Teen Titans' Third Training Log
Who: The Teen Titans
When: Forward dated to Monday, November 26th, 2012.
Where: Teen Titans HQ and an abandoned apartment building.
Summary: The Titans have new members, and it's time for a new kind of training.
Warnings: Possible cursing, fighting, getting hurt while fighting. Here is your theme music for tonight! Have fun!
It'd been awhile since Red Robin had gotten a new training exercise ready for the Teen Titans, but considering the amount of people who had joined and who had left, it had been a little difficult to figure it out. But it had been a few months, and they'd recently gotten some new Titans; now was the perfect time to test all of them. Red Robin had been working on this exercise for awhile, sketching plans, looking for the perfect buildings that could be used without disturbing anyone else, gathering enough supplies so that everyone would have an equal challenge, and then taking time during work to design some of the foes they'd need to fight.
Not to mention setting everything up, which had taken a few weeks at this point. But Red Robin knew that the Titans, most of them, anyway, could work as a team in a large space. Chasing after people, fighting against monsters in open space; those were easy enough in the long run. But you weren't a Teen Titan unless you could work in a small space without breaking too much stuff. That was why each group was put before a small apartment building, and told to get to the top. There would be points given for the group who made it to the roof quickest, points taken off for the group who did too much damage, and anyone who mishandled the "people" might not even make it near the top of the list.
And you want to make it to the top of the list, if only for the useful prize at the end.
OOC Information: Okay, guys! Everyone has been split up into pairs, and everyone has two floors to go through to get through this training. Several abandoned buildings have been "appropriated" by Red Robin for the length of this training, and at the end everything will be put back to normal. Each floor has been outfitted with enough attack robots that should leave everyone busy for at least an hour or more. Each Titan group will need to get through three floors, from the first floor to the third, and then to complete the exercise, they need to make it to the roof. Only those that make it to the roof will be finished the course. And if there needs to be more incentive instead of just training, the group at the end with the most points will win something helpful.
There are several things that will hinder the Titans on each floor:
The First Floor: For the first challenge, the entire floor is filling up with smoke! The fire alarm goes off as soon as your characters open the door, and they'll need to be careful of inhaling too much smoke. There are three apartments that have a sign on their doors, meaning you'll need to go in and grab something (or someone) from it. One room will have a child in it, the next one will have an adult, and the last will have a baby in it. Gotta save them all! Get them out of their apartments and outside without any damage, then move on to the next floor.
The Second Floor: For the second challenge, it seems like someone has been hoarding items. Remember that scene from 28 Days Later, where tons of shopping carts create a barricade in the apartment? If you've never seen it, you should Google it. But otherwise, if you've seen Hoarders, there's a lot of trash and other items that could be dangerous. You'll need to get through all of this to the stairs to get to the next floor.
The Third Floor: The third, and last challenge is a little more difficult then the others. Everything seems to be normal, until you see something scurrying along the wall. Then you'll see something come rolling out of one of the rooms. There are a lot of them, and they'll keep coming until you've gotten rid of all of them. Watch out, they will give you several electric shocks if you get too close (none will be fatal, but they will hurt like a bitch).
Red Robin and Warbler will be in the HQ and will advise everyone over the communicators. Each group is supplied with a basic map of what the floors look like, and while time is important when it comes to finishing each floor, the biggest challenge will be to do as minimal damage as possible to the apartment. Red Robin and Warbler will go through each floor at the end and give a score based on what they have heard and seen the damage.
Red Robin and Warbler: Teen Titans' HQ.
Kirin and Cambion: Apartment #1.
Kyuubi and Songbird: Apartment #2.
The Heir of Breath and Oathkeeper: Apartment #3.
Sugar Plum and The Pillager: Apartment #4.
The Duckling and Darkbeat: Apartment #5.
Skull and Occupational Hazard: Apartment #6.
Kusunoki Masashige and Knight: Apartment #7.
Blood Rose and Guerrilla: Apartment #8.
The Great Saiyaboy and Mugetsu: Apartment #9.
Like always, there will be a thread for interactions in the Teen Titans' HQ after the training is complete. Soda, pizza, snacks, and First Aid kits are there for you!

Re: The Duckling and Darkbeat: Apartment #5
Ducking down to try and get beneath the smoke, she covers her mouth and looked around.]
gah, sorry I'm a bit late hopping on this!
Process of elimination meant this girl was the same one he'd spoken to not long ago, on the network. She seemed...a bit gentle for this kind of intense training. But then, lots of girls had surprised him with their powers, for how helpful they could be in the middle of action.
Luckily he's excited for this- any practice that's drawn up like a competition, with points and teams and status, usually draws out the aggressive streak in him.
Joe makes the mistake of inhaling early, immediately coughing and squinting at the sting of smokey air. It's a good thing he's practiced with Riku, the blind fight and nagivation of relying on his instincts and the darkness rather than his eyes to guide him- that'll help them out here.
If would be easier to locate people if they were real but these targets they're going for]
Okay.... [he gasps, tugging his cape over his mouth to be some kind of makeshift filter] we've gotta be quick about this!
Me too. ;_;
Gesturing for him to get down, she approaches the nearest room. She wonders if their first target is in there. It's not as if they can afford to wait too long...]
Re: Me too. ;_;
And maybe, if he can find the source of it first, shut it off...
He turns without warning his partner, heading for the room where its billowing even thicker.
Re: Me too. ;_;
Ineffectively tugging, she tries not to cough.]

Sure enough, the smoke machine and a high powered fan are in the far room down the hall, well separated from Prim. He has to hang onto the doorframe and all but fling himself into the room, face sooty with chemical smoke.
He gags loudly, fighting his way into the room and fumbling blindly at the device for an "off" switch... or for a power cord to pull.
He gets to the fan first.
...and as the smoke goes on thicker, hanging in the room, "Darkbeat" feels the darkness closing in on him.]

There's only one chance for her to actually find him.
Putting the baby down, she lets her body twist and turn, shrinking down into a much smaller form. As a duckling, she can reach her mind out in search of other living beings. Although she doesn't think she'll be able to communicate, maybe she can find out where her partner has gotten to...]

That should...just about do it.
He tries to stagger back to his feet, but the world suddenly reels out from under him. Ugh... maybe this was a bad idea.]

The doll are fake. Her partner is real - and the contest can wait. Still not speaking, she tries to lead him out.]

"Window?" he manages to croak, in hopes of finding fresh air?
