1/2 Billions and billions

A small light flickered, brightening and dimming several times. The camera lens readjusted itself accordingly during the process, the device left to receive the latest of texts. It hovered quietly next to the man who did nothing but stay where he was.

He could choose any path at this point. His stance alone had a subtle hint of calculation behind it, but he made no real show of what was going through his mind. That was usually how it went. And no matter what he chose, everything would end in a certain manner. Any attempt had to go wrong sooner or later. Perhaps that was the very benefit of having no feelings -- no poignant memories. They were nuances that added to an experience, but they could be discarded. All of the times spent remembering doses of certain feelings back in the City of Change only strove to reinforce a sense of cold emptiness toward everything. The less relevance set with every interaction, the better.

His focus was important.

His goals were to be obtained no matter what stood in his way.
