makethemguilty: (Von Karma - Overconfidence)

He could be quite appreciative of his...talents, in a word. Men who showed weakness under his eye had something to hide, and once assured of their guilt, Manfred swooped in for the proverbial "kill". Like a tiger circling its prey, his gaze never quite left Tonegawa's. Not completely.

To see that he thrived under such attention only brought him amusement and possible pleasure that there might be another individual among the countless masses whom he could find himself working with and tolerating. A rarity for him, indeed! Tonegawa, he was sure, was a professional.

"It is a principle I never stray from," he murmurs as his lips finally stretch into a terrible smile, one only mirrored after victory against some fool in court. In his courtroom there was no room for that, not anymore after the countless stunts that had embittered him into heartlessness.

"To step beyond their station is...foolish," von Karma concurs, likewise lifting his glass of wine and sipping slowly from it, savouring the flavors.

"I suppose I could appreciate such a sentiment, Mister Tonegawa. Though in my line of work it is more that I take care of those who take self-entitlement to an entirely new level."

And for their deeds, he would seek the maximum punishment swiftly and unmercifully, should that be practical.
