[OPEN] [Groundhog Day Brainstorming Post, backdated to the fourth February 2nd.] TIME IS FLEETING...

Who: A bunch of nerds. Everybody who wants to brainstorm on fixing the Groundhog Day situation.
When: Noon->afternoon->evening on the fourth iteration of February 2nd.
Where: The House.
Summary: TIME IS WEIRD WHAT DO
Warnings: Should be pretty clean.

The House directs them all to the ballroom, a broad expanse of elaborately inlaid stone dotted with clusters of cozy chairs. Drones scoot about the room, offering plates of delicious little sandwiches, coffee, juice, and tea. The entire western wall is a single diamond-paned window overlooking the ocean, save the doors set into it that lead out to the balcony. On small tables beside the window are sleek, pen-sized implements not unlike a tablet stylus, that everyone can use to write out ideas, equations, or conceptual doodles in the responsive nano-circuitry lacing the window. Make yourselves comfortable.

OOC: Discuss ideas in small groups or larger ones, with subthreads as necessary. Feel free to ask the House to run statistical models for you. Inhabitants of the House may mingle as well, if they are so inclined.

[Arches an eyebrow]

Magic. Obviously. Temporal magic with a predetermined off switch that the user- someone such as myself- OR MY FRIEND- ah yes. My friend. Could use to-

I would have an off switch that either the person could trip or I could pull to call a halt to things.

Oh, Ox, don't pout. It's unbecoming of one so intelligent such as yourself. Think of magic like science, after all, science is like magic to humans, is it not? Following rules and principals, laws with predictable outcomes. Two reactants create a new product, etc, etc.

Yes but you -ah - work for humans, yes? So you use their logic... or something.

[Tips his head and grins.]

Yes, yes I suppose it does skip steps between the particles and the product but to someone who does not know that x and y make z, well, that seems like magic? Yes?

I am trying to comfort, here.

[Loki holds up the half eaten cookie, then lays it flat in his palm, a moment- a narrowing of green eyes and a spark of green limning the edges of the half eaten cookie and reality simply shifts- becoming a white rabbit with a half bitten ear.]

...Oops [He fixes the ear with a thought, then offers the rabbit for inspection. It's white and speckled lightly with brown flecks, small with large ears.] Ma~agic.

It's all fun and games until someone pulls a time loop. [He puts the bunny down and allows it to do whatever is in its newly made bunny heart. Likely chew on things and poop in inconvenient places. He shall call it Stanley.]

There is no magic in your world?

[Snorts]

At least you've no idealized notions of humankind and their capacities.

Political experience, inordinate intelligence - why, you're rather a force to be reckoned with if your intention was for politics or power here.

[Might be testing the waters with that.]

But a knowledgeable House. And here, well, so many people are not knowledgeable. Or are naive of the reality of things.

[Loki would find that awesome. Like Terminator.]

How do you fare here? Not having your Mistress? I mean, obviously you cannot take on a new Master. So ... does that make you a sort of regent until you can be reunited with her?

[He thinks that in and of itself sounds a bit depressing, but if it makes House happy, well, he cannot judge.]

[Loki is so hoping he remembers this so he can build his own House back on Midgard when he returns.]

I suppose so, but in this situation, leaving yourself out of important decisions would open you to the dangers of being at the whims of others, I should think. Being that you already have a Mistress, it only seems that taking a decisive stance in ensuring that you are not taken or misused or the like would be imperative.

[He's speculating.]
