Conner crouched down to the ground to make himself less of a target if someone was scoping him out and stilled himself for a moment, listening around him to see if he heard anything. With his super hearing, he would be able to tell easily but he didn't think using his superhuman abilities would do much good if he was in too much pain to really focus.

Not hearing anything he could pick up, he cautiously made his way forward, keeping his eyes and ears open for so much as a twig breaking or a flash of movement.
