[She hasn't been out much since he left. Save the day she went to hunt and accidentally gained a new employee, she's been shut inside, barely moving from her spot on the couch. She's waiting for the moment he decided to come back to her and she wants to be ready.

She saw him kill someone, a girl. Alice wanted to scratch her eyes out on principle, getting all close to Jasper like that, but the urge vanished when she thought of what he must be feeling.

Then she saw him attack Jesse, and that was the only time she nearly bolted to the door. But it would be too late, everything said and done by the time she got there, and if she sent a text it would give Jasper a better and earlier opportunity to pounce while Jesse was distracted.

She can't win.

She's destroyed two good men being completely selfish. Jesse's hurt when she promised she'd keep him safe, and Jasper.....

Well now he's heartbroken, hurt, and a human.

But then something amazing happens, something she's been waiting to see for days. Jasper decided to come back home. The second the vision dissipates, she's in a frenzy. Pulling out blankets, spare clothes (she prepared for him, months ago when she thought he'd be right behind her), even putting on some soup. She's not sure if he'd even want to eat, but that's what Bella told her she ate when she felt sick, so it couldn't hurt.

Of course, the frenzy lasts all of two minutes before she runs out of things to do. Vampire speed will do that. So now, she waits.]

Alice, I don't care. I'm not gonna let you be used as some sort of tool just because of your visions.

So, what, you're just going to be human forever now? You'll get old and I'll stay like this?

[If hell were real, that's what she'd imagine it to be.]

No. I won't let that happen

[empathetics]

[He shakes his head.]

Alice, no. I'm not worth it.

[manicpixiedreamgirl]

Jasper, stop. You sound like Edward.

[Okay, so that's a low blow, but maybe it'll knock some sense into him.]

[empathetics]

[He pulls back at that, his brow coming together and with honestly nothing to say.]

[manicpixiedreamgirl]

Yeah.

[Think about that, mister.]

So what I'll do is, I'll talk to him in a few days and if that doesn't pan out [Probably won't, chances are slim to none] I'll wait until the New Year.

And if that doesn't work, I'll just ask him to take mine too.

[empathetics]

[His eyes widen, and he grasps at her hand.]

You would do that? But Alice... darlin'... being a vampire is all you've ever known.

[manicpixiedreamgirl]

I know that. But I can't stand to be like this while you're forced to be human. I don't want to see you age and I don't want to be so much stronger than you that I have to check myself before I can touch you.

[Tanya and her sisters say it's easy, but the prospect scares her to death.]

I tried it once [Twice, but details] you know. I was having some...dietary problems so he took it away for a little while. Being human isn't so bad.

[empathetics]

[Jasper is silent for a few moments, reaching out with a careful hand to cup her face. He runs the pad of his thumb gently across her cheek, a part of him cursing his now weakened eyesight. He can't fully appreciate her beauty through these human eyes.

But it's there, inside and out, and he can't help but feel humbled and marvel over just how perfect she is. What she's willing to put herself through, for him.

If he still had his gift, he would pour those emotions out to her, because words simply can't suffice.]

[They've been together for so long, she understands what he's doing. If he had his power now, she'd be so full of wonderful emotions and they'd kiss and everything would be okay again.

Alice knows he was in the right, but she can't help but hate Jesse a little for stealing that from her.

She leans into his hand a little, and a little smile creeps across her mouth.]

You know, I feel a little cheated. I wanted to see what color your eyes are.

[empathetics]

[He smiles wryly, nearly all the tension from his face and stance having dissipated.]

If I'm not mistaken, they used to be brown. Nothing exciting.
