Eponine smiles triumphantly, as if she had meant to lead Hattie here all along. It was actually sheer luck, but Eponine isn't about to let onto that.

"See, Madame. I told you everything would be fine."

She leads Hattie over to a low wall, bordering what looks like a park. It's damp, but there's no help for that.

"Madame. I will be back in ten minutes - twenty at most. We need some money and I can get it, okay? Don't come - stay out of this, or you'll be in trouble, okay. And if any man approaches you, Madame, you must find yourself a loose brick to throw, or scream for me, okay?"

It wasn't a light warning, and definitely not said in jest. Eponine knew who could approach and what their intentions might be. And Hattie in her current state of smeared make up and messy hair and ripped and bloody clothes might easily be mistaken for someone desperate. At the same time though, Eponine couldn't bring Hattie with her. The silly woman would only scare off her victims. And Eponine's planning on using her new secret power, which Jesse has told her not to show.

She goes quickly, hunting down victims, and pushing her hands into their pockets, carefully wiping their memories of the strange girl in the strange dress. She listens all the while for Hattie. Perhaps this would be a good life lesson for her?
