Yes, Hattie sees the purses. And she wouldn't mind taking a look at what's inside, probably plenty of money as already guessed. However she looks completely and utterly surprised when Eponine snaps at her.

She gasps, hand raised to her chest as if she were the one being insulted, and yet she had difficulty finding the words to say. What does follow, though, are gasps of shock, and a 'no!' when the wallets are tossed aside.

Yet, the strange thing is, she can't help but feel Eponine is... Right. It's the part about her being older that shakes her up, and even makes her feel a little ashamed, especially as she thinks about what Xellos had said to her.
