I got the blues... Purples.. Uh.. Something.

Alouette did not think she was going to have a super day today. The work she did after returning to the present time of Siren's Port had been an adequate distraction, and really she was more than happy to assist in getting Funtom back up and running; plotting her own direction to go in was nice, practicing her archery was good even though she still avoided going out at night.

But every now and then she thought about the horrible timing of the core's antics and she'd get upset that it messed up her birthday plans. She didn't know what to do about it, and she didn't feel comfortable bringing it up with Alois since everyone was having a difficult time.

She's come to understand that, unlike at home in Pensee, she was not the center of the world.

Oftentimes she'd tell herself to 'toughen up, there's always next year', but.. Would there even?

That aside, it brings Alouette to today, where she's going about her usual Sunday morning routine of getting up, getting washed, then having a cup of hot cocoa in a coffee mug while reading up on the news upon her NV. Recette tended to sleep in late on Sundays, so she could look forward to not getting interrupted until at least noon. Probably.

[Alouette nearly spills her hot cocoa, but thankfully she does not. She shoots the prince a sharp look but.. Well shoot, she can't stay mad at you!]

Bonjour, Prince Soma.. You appear to be in high spirits today, non? Did something good happen?

Well, everything's back to normal. That's good, right?

It's certainly normal enough, thank goodness. I have read that a number of newcomers are still having difficulties; it seems I have gotten off quite lucky.

[She sips from her mug.]

And to what do I owe the pleasure of your calling today?

[If it has anything to do with Keigo, she's busy.]

It was your birthday, silly. Did you think I forgot?

[ ...wait for it...

Waaaiit for it... ]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

[Alouette points her NV away from herself, then plugs her free finger into one of her ears in preperation. SHE'S ON TO YOU, SOMA.]

[Crisis... Averted. Sort of. Alouette looks a bit flustered at first, then embarrassed.]

W- Well, no.. Of course I did not think you had forgotten..

[She fidgets a bit, and looks downward.]

Merci beaucoup, your highness.

I would have called sooner but Agni's been really fussy over me since everything went back to normal.

[Alouette quickly shakes her head and waves her hands.]

Wh- Oh I know! You do not have to apologize, Soma! [She snickers a bit, as it's easy for her to imagine Agni's behavior.] So then he is normal as well, that is good to hear.

[She scritches her cheek sheepishly.]

Everyone has been busy, even myself, so I truly understand. I just..

I suppose I am just a little disappointed that I will have to wait next year to celebrate. I am not a very big fan of The Core right now.. That is, even less than usual.

Yes, Agni is fine. But seriously, he needs to calm down. I didn't get hurt or anything.

[ Soma's pouty face doesn't last much longer though, as Alouette's last comment makes him give a laugh. ]

Why would you have to wait? We can have your party, anyway!

Well you cannot blame him, it was a very dangerous scenario to be in.. Especially when everything blew up! But then again.. I do think that it would not hurt to relax on the decaffienated coffee...

[Alouette stares at Soma for a moment with a neutral expression. She just stares at him. Then after about ten seconds, her eyes light up.]

What, really?? Do you have the power to turn back time??

...No. But a birthday party doesn't necessarily have to happen on your actual birthday. Besides, we were substituting a day for your real birthday anyway since this place is all weird with different months and days and stuff, right? So what's it matter when we have it?

Hey, what's going on with that party? I still have a present for you.

[Czeslaw knocks on the door shortly after contacting Alouette on NV. He's carrying a lavishly wrapped silver garment box, it's so large as to be awkward for his small form the carry.]

.. Is.. That so? But, that was a different kind of problem!

[Alouette is a bit perplexed, about to make a dispute, when she thinks about her horoscope. She glances to the side a moment, then begrudgingly agrees.]

Well.. That does not make much sense to me, but.. If.. You are absolutely certain, Soma. I suppose I viewed the situation as a holiday.

Czeslaw! Er.. B- Bonjour!

[She wasn't expecting a call from him. And he has a present!]

Ah, I.. I am not exactly certain; things are still up in the air at the moment.. It is good to see you are all right!

Oh yeah, I'm doing okay. Things got pretty crazy with that whole time-traveling gig. Did you get home safely after that?

Oof, tell me about it. That may have been the longest week of my life..

[She raises a hand to her cheek.]

Ah, oui, I have! My housing situation has not changed, and while things have been a little shaky work-wise, I am still in a positive enough position. But, more importantly..

[Well this is neat, it's the first time Alouette's had a boy over. If her dad were here, he'd flip! She opens the door, revealing the spacious foyer behind her.

Welcome, Czesl- Wow! Wh- What?

[That's a big box!]

Whatever. You turned a year older so you are getting a party!

Hmmmm... we need presents and decorations and music... OH! And food! Agni can make curry and I learned how to make cookies!

[ Horrible cookies that no one should eat ever, but ITS THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS ]

[Alouette looks a bit surprised by how easily he brushes her reasoning aside, then can't help but laugh a little.]

Well.. If you insist, I cannot very well say no, can I?

[She listens and nods on occassion.]

That sounds about right.. Um, should I help with the decorating? Actually now that I think about it, Alois said it would be all right to hold the party at his estate. I.. I think it should still be all right to hold him to that.. Right?

I have heard about curry; it is rather spicy, non? Could I have mine plain?

[Waaaait a minute.]

D- Do you.. Bake as well as you draw, Prince Soma?

Alois will not go back on his word! I will make sure of it!!

[ ...by being even more annoying to the blond then he already is. ]

Agni's blessed right hand of the goddess Kali can make you any kind of curry you wish for! It does not have to be spicy.

[ He stops to ponder the last bit. ]

Well, I have been drawing for so long. That is an artist years in the making. I have only really baked a few times. BUT I HAVE TO PRACTICE MORE IF I WANT TO BE AS GOOD AT COOKING AS AGNI IS!!

I.. I appreciate that.

[Her expression softens a bit, but then her brows raise in surprise!]

Welll then, I ask the blessed right hand of Kali to make mine very mild!

[Alouette isn't certain what to make of this, but she is willing to give Soma the benefit of the doubt. Surely his passion would make his sweets at least passable, would't it? As painful as it is to hear how long he's been drawing, she'll... Give him the benefit of the doubt.]

My goodness. W- Well then, I am sure they will be memorable. But that is the kind of attitude I like to see. Well then, all that is left is to decide the new date, non? How about the third of February?

[Inside is a lavender taffeta dress with a white bow in the back, something in the style of the early Victorian era for young girls.]

I almost got you a deep purple one, but I thought... the next big occasion you'll likely want to wear the dress for is spring, so I hope this works.

[Alouette tries to resist the urge to open it but.. She fails miserably and tears the paper. It isn't like her dad's around to stop her, ho ho ho! Once she does, she gasps.]

I.. It's.. Non, non, it's magnifique! It's gorgeous!

[She's stunned by how thoughtful he is. Alouette is happy. So happy, in fact, that she sheds tears of joy.]

.. It's really wonderful..

Ahh... Don't cry, it's just a dress! [This was not what he expected. Czeslaw pats her shoulder awkwardly.] A pretty dress for a pretty girl...

Wh- What?

[Alouette stands up straight suddenly, and quickly turns away, embarrassed. Which also means she pulls away from his touch- not that she disliked it.]

*sniff* I am not crying! It is just that it is so cold out, it is making my eyes waterQ! Why would I cry over a gift??

[That's her story and she's sticking to it. She wipes at her eyes with her sleeve.]

Ahem.. W- Would you like to come in for cocoa?

I love cocoa. [Czeslaw grins.]

[She looks back and smiles.]

Wonderful! This way, then.

[She closes the door behind him, and walks through the foyer, which is very large; it has a circular stairwell that goes upstairs to the right, but she goes left which goes into a large but somewhat bare bones dining room. Upon the long table, there is already a silver tray atop it with a christmas themed pot and mugs.]

You may sit here, of course. Ah, as you can see, we haven't had luck obtaining an adult yet. Pardon the mess.

This place is fantastic! [Czeslaw flits from place to place, admiring the furniture and the space, tapping at the molding around the windows and examining the darkness-proofing.]

How many rooms does it have?

[Alouette sets the box upon the table, then pours a cup for Czeslaw with a proud smile. She gestures to another dish that has marshmallows in them. The proofing appears to be acceptable.]

Isn't it, though? However some of the doors are still locked, so I have not been able to account for all of the rooms yet.

Thus far I have counted around fourteen. That does not include the indoor garden~.

You tried getting someone out here to fix the locks? Or maybe a thief to pick them.

[He's thoroughly distracted by the cocoa, not even bothering to blow on the hot stuff while he drinks it, nor reacting with a wince at burning his tongue.]

[She blinks in surprise.]

Well, I have asked several locksmiths but they could not make heads or tails of the locks or the keymaker.

While I am uncertain how wise it would be to advertise looking for a thief, I suppose I could question the network.. I'm surprised I overlooked such a simple answer!

[Now then, about him not burning himself.]
