He studied her quietly, knowing that there was more to it than that, but not meaning at all to question her more on the subject. He wanted her to relax around him, so they could at least stand to wait for Peter to come back, but that couldn't happen when she had her mind on murder and mayhem.

And if all else failed...well, he'd have to find a way to keep Peter from being implicated. Harbouring a criminal--it was a serious problem.
