I know I'll be alright, it's just overkill

Who: Duo Maxwell and Jesse
When: Evening of the 13th, after his talk with Claire
Where: Somewhere in Sector 5
Summary: Duo is dealing with conflicting emotions, making him one pissy Gundam pilot. He needs a friend to (maybe) put some things in perspective. Or just get him drunk. One of the two.
Warnings: Language, possibly under age drinking

An empty can clanked along the quiet street, disrupting the silence with it's noisy sound. The offending foot that had kicked it belonged to one Duo Maxwell, who was scowling as much as any teen could scowl. Despite the anger on his face, his eyes told a different story, betraying just how hurt and worried he was.

He wanted to scream in frustration. Claire was one of his closest friends in the Port, and while neither of them were great at being completely, totally honest with each other due to their individual pasts, he had hoped that maybe she wouldn't try to brush something as serious as Sylar's attack on her off as "not a big deal". He was angry that she had told him to just run if he ever ran in to the man. Maybe she could handle him better than Duo could, but that didn't mean he was okay with just letting her go toe to toe with Sylar alone.

But he was worried, too. More worried about her than he'd been worried about another person in long time. And he really didn't understand what it meant. He was street smart but he certainly didn't know everything, and even his own emotions confused him sometimes.

"Damnit..." he huffed, kicking at the can again once he reached it. The sun was already getting low, though the sirens hadn't gone off yet. He didn't want to go inside. He knew he wasn't going to sleep tonight. He just wanted to walk for miles and hope that maybe exhaustion might take him before the darkness monsters ever did.

Great plan, right?
