He'd made appointments with various people. He was going to keep them. But even still, he was looking entirely well. He'd lost a little weight, was tense, and mostly very still. Except his eyes. They never stopped moving.

"I'd imagine not. Taffies are fairly easy. Do you have have kinds you like more than others?" He doesn't like sweets, but he does like to cook for others.

[motioned]

"Ruthie? So that's your sister's name, huh?

[magnetic_magpie]

"Ruth, yes. We always called her Ruthie. She was named after our great-grandmother." Neither of them had ever met her, but they had both known Ruthie was named after their mother's grandmother.

[motioned]

"Well, she sounds really nice. I hope you can see her again."

[magnetic_magpie]

"She died a long time ago. I like to think she's at peace, I'd rather her stay there." As hard as the memories were, at least they were better than they could have been.

"Do you have siblings, back home?"

[motioned]

"Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that..." She pauses, looking towards the ground, a shade more somber.

"No, I don't have any family."

"It was a long time ago." He reached over, placing a hand on her back, gentle.

"Family isn't all about blood. It's about who you love too."

[motioned]

"Well, there are a whole lot of people I love, both here and back home!"

[magnetic_magpie]

"That helps a great deal." He smiled but didn't remove his hand. It helped keep him calm too.

[motioned]

"Do you have people like that here?" She doesn't shift from his touch, though she does still seem tense, as she had before.

[magnetic_magpie]

"Quite a few." Whether or not they still returned his affection he didn't know, at least in some cases.

[motioned]

"Do you want to tell me about them?"

[magnetic_magpie]

"You're one of them." Warm and gentle. "Jack. Griffin. Jinx. Jubilee. Some aren't here anymore."

[motioned]

She smiles at his first sentence, looking at the ground as she speaks.

"Jack's a really good person, he deserves it. Tell me about the ones who went home." Because as much as she wants to know what he did, she really does love hearing about the people her loved ones treasure.

"Well, I have my children, the twins and my youngest. My grandsons and granddaughter. Then the others I love as my own. Katherine. Rahne. Danielle. Illyana. Douglas, although he was murder several years ago. Samuel. Wicked and Freakshow - I'm afraid they won't tell me their real names, just their nicknames. Some adults, Charles and Rogue mostly."

He took a breath. "The other children where my students. I was...afraid, at first. I'm not good with teenagers, they were wary and hurting. All had suffered horrible loses, they didn't trust a stranger. I was surprised by how much I grew to love them."

12 April, Early Afternoon

On Thursday afternoon, Walter arrived as promised. Having been caught by one of the day's light showers on his way over, Walter took a moment to shake the water from his umbrella before giving a ring at the door to alert the household to his presence.

Luckily, Walter had possessed the foresight to bring the umbrella in the first place; the conversation to take place had the potential to turn stressful, so the last thing he wanted was to get his cigarettes wet.

Magneto heard the door bell and unfolded himself from the chair to answer it. He was a little more stressed than he had been at the beginning of the week.

"Walter. Welcome. Come inside?"

House had sent over drones with food, which was set up in one of the common rooms.
