[Open Log] If I were a painting, captured on canvas

Who: OPEN - for artists, portrait-sitters, and park spectators!
When: Noon-3pm, Monday April 23rd
Where: Versaid Lake Park
Summary: "The Charles Redcliff Art Museum is sponsoring a Portraits in the Park Art Contest, beginning today at noon. Artists and their Portrait Subjects will have 3 hours to complete their entries at the lakeside. Any drawing or painting medium & both amateur and professional skill levels welcome. Supplies will be provided. Three Winners will be featured at the Redcliff’s spring gallery, and receive store credit at Redcliff Photo Labs, for 500 high quality fine art prints of their work."
Warnings: Sitting still for 3 hours might be difficult for some of you...




It's a mild and sunny day, perfect for a spring outing. Down by the lakeside, contest sponsors have set up easels and a long table of different supplies to use, donated by the Redcliff museum and other affiliated art supply stores. Judges, ribbons pinned to their lapels, wander back and forth among the participants throughout the afternoon, appraising the works.

It's easy to sign up and join in, open for anyone to give their best try.

Wanda smiled sympathetically. Jubilee wasn't the only one desperately missing someone.

"This place is strange and mostly full of strangers. Some of it's good. You make friends you'd never have back home." She's thinking fondly about Anya but keeps her promise about not mentioning her.

"It also takes a lot from you. No matter what else you get, I doubt it ever feels like a fair trade." Now, she's thinking about how much she misses Pietro.

There's a quiet moment before she tries to change the subject slightly.

"But, girl, please don't give it any ideas about Creed." Her face screws up with exaggerated disgust. "That 'man' is nas~tay!" Which is putting it lightly, very lightly.

Jubilee smiled crookedly. Back home, she'd be on the other side of Magneto, but here? Here she defended him, stood by him and wanted him to come home.

"I dunno; there are some trades I could make." She continued to sketch, making swift lines on the paper.

Jubilee ticked up an eyebrow. "Oh, there's no denying that. He's threatened me with dismemberment more than once, but, ya know, he can play well with others. Given the right incentive." Smirk. Jubilee would give him the right incentive, alright.

Wanda smirked right back at her. "Seeing the way you handle Loki and Deadpool, I'll bet you could."

Getting a little bit sore from keeping the same position, she arched her back while stretching her arms.

"I'm glad to hear you've found something worth holding onto. It would've been a difficult 2 years if you hadn't."

Wanda would like to hold fast to her long-lost sister, take the girl back home when the time came. All signs pointed toward that being an impossibility. Even so, it didn't stop her from wishing to make it happen.

"You can shift position if you're uncomfortable." Jubilee could sketch if she needed to move. She was doing a headshot, anyway.

Jubilee pursed her lips for a minute. "I didn't spend it alone. Nightcrawler's been here twice. Gambit once. Franklin Reed's been here." She shook her head. "We've had kinda a revolving door for X-Wearers." She grinned. "We're even on our second Tony Stark." Because the thought of more than one Tony Stark was hilarious to her.

"Also, the current building is our third HoA. First was a dingy two bedroom apartment I had with a couple of friends. Then, we got a bigger place and more people started showing up, then we got the building we're in now." She shrugged. "I think Michael wants to add onto it too." A glance up. "How do you feel about nude sunbathing?"

"IF I'm uncomfortable?!" Wanda made an exasperated sound while giving Jubliee a pained look. "I can't believe it took you until now to tell me," she said with mock annoyance. "I could have used that tidbit of info at the start of all this. Ugh, my back's killing me!"

Slumping down, she let her head fall forward, arms hanging heavily like dead weights. She wasn't the picture of elegance anymore, but this definitely felt better. Eventually, she shifted into a much more comfortable position for sitting long term.

The information about all the X-People and others who had been here that she might recognize was filed away for later. It was further fuel to keep alive her dream that some version--any version--of Pietro would show up.

At the mention of Michael's name, Wanda decided to ask who he was. He had come up a few time in reference to the HOA but she really didn't know much about him. However, Jubilee's sunbathing question diverted her thoughts.

"Sunbathing? I have no problem with that. The in-the-nude part is outside my personal comfort zone." She shrugged. "But to each her own."

Wanda quirked an eyebrow. "Why do you ask? And please tell me it's not so you can warn me about Deadpool being a nude sunbathing aficionado."

Jubilee rolled her eyes. "If you'd said something, I would've said you could move earlier, Wanda." She stuck her tongue out at her model. Why be mature on such a pretty day?

"Well, there are skinny dipping times on the pool, just so you're warned." Jubilee had to tease her. Had to. Considering her Wanda's costume, she just couldn't imagine her uncomfortable with being nude.

"And Deadpool is known to wander in from time to time..." Okay, that was just mean. Really mean.

"But no. It's more because Michael is kinda planning a huge green house that is..." A slight cough. "Probably going to be clothing optional, since several of us really have no trouble with nudity." A wink. "I have no tan lines."

[OOC: Throughout the Exiles, this Wanda is shown to be a bit conservative when it came to clothing--despite the fact her costume is technically more revealing than 616 when you remove the cloak. And she constantly complained about the "slutty" costume of her alternate, who was actually wearing the exact same thing as her, only without a cloak. Gah! Stupid writers. Ah, well, gotta stay IC.]


Naked Deadpool: Wanda was horrified as that mental picture seared itself into her brain.

Then the comment about tan lines made her blush ever so slightly. Wanda wasn't a total prude or ashamed of her body. But she was more much reserved than Jubilee. She preferred to mostly cover up, showing only a hint of flesh, like a bit of leg or shoulder, instead of baring it all at once. As far as Wanda was concerned, the naked body was for private moments, not public displays.

However, she didn't expect others to feel same or change their behavior for her. (Unless, that 'other' was her doppelganger. Then, she'd have all sorts of problems with it because seeing herself letting it all hang out was just too much to handle with grace.)

"Would the green house have special clothing-required times?" The question was asked rather hesitantly. She really would like to visit the green house but not at the risk of being flashed by Jubilee, Michael or anyone else.

Jubilee often said things just to get a reaction. She was mildly surprised to see the blush. She couldn't help but tick up an eyebrow.

She continued sketching for a moment. "There will be signs posted to warn people." Jubilee was trying to be reassuring, but she really failed at it. Between Ororo, Logan, Kurt, and a few others, clothes just didn't matter any more.

"Just like there is on the pool door. That way, no one sees anything they don't want to."

Jubilee ticked up her eyes at Wanda and then continued sketching. "There's several of us... well, we've been around people that just don't care about nudity."

Quite frankly, Wanda was shocked by the blasé attitude about public nudity that the X-Crew from Jubilee's world supposedly held. The X-Men Wanda knew were never like that--especially Jean, with whom she'd been quite close. Now, to be fair, the only X-Men she'd ever known well were those in the original line-up. Perhaps things were different amongst the newer recruits, such as those Jubliee had named.

In contrast to the X-Men, the Avengers were always more clotheshorse than clothes-optional.

Lounging by the pool in a skimpy bathing suit? Sure!
Bumming around Avenger's mansion in your skivvies? Who cares!
Strutting your stuff around others while in the buff? Only in Tony's private suite! And that was a place Pietro had forbidden Wanda to go. Though he needn't have bothered because Iron Man was not the one on whom she'd had a crush.

Wanda had no intention of pushing this issue. If there were times when clothing was required, then that's when she'd visit the green house, assuming it ever got made. If not, then she'd relax elsewhere and happily leave the nudists to their plants.

Moving on from the green house and naked people, Wanda decided to ask about Michael. His name had been introduced into their conversation repeatedly by Jubilee, piquing her curiosity.

"When you say 'several of us' are you including Michael? Is he from your world too?"

Jubilee paused. Oh boy. She really had failed at the whole 'Michael is Magneto' thing with Wanda. Just... great. She started her second sketch because, dammit. She was going to get these done.

"He is. So is Emma. I think Deadpool is ahead of me in the timeline, same with Loki and Spiderman." Because she was pretty sure they were all from the same universe. "Tony and Steve, who recently arrived, are from a different universe from me, but from the same universe, I think. Kitty Pryde that's here is from yet another universe." She shook her head. "It's hard to keep straight, but hey, whatever, ya know?"

Wanda nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, yeah, it can be hard to keep track of all the multiversal alternates! So many worlds, all of them similar but still remarkably different. The Exiles, my former team, were made up of nothing but alternates. It was a bit jarring at first." She shrugged.

"But you get used to it fast when you have no choice." Not to mention being seconds away from certain death had a way of making you accept and appreciated any version of life pretty darn quick.

"I haven't heard from Tony or Steve since I arrived. I have a feeling that means we're also from different worlds." She's obviously saddened by that. The Avengers were her second family, and she misses them almost as much as her brother.

"I met an alternate version of myself once. She was a slave for Mojo." Jubilee wrinkled her nose.

She cocked her head to one side, shading in a bit of the sketch and then darkening in some lines. She sketched silently for a moment, thinking.

"They're in the other condo. Well, one of them. Michael's in the other when he's in the house." Which, hopefully, he would be doing again soon.
