Who: Dirk Strider, Jade Harley, and the Three Stooges. [aka bro, dave, and davesprite]
When: Friday, early evening before any sirens
Where: Streets and the apartment
Summary: A chick and a totally rad dude go on a personal quest to bond with his forefathers, unwillingly. Also there are puppets. It's like a musical but sans any actual singing.
Warnings: PG-13 for a dirty mouth. It's cool though, they got soap.
It's a strange, cruel twist of fate, that Dirk is at the right place, at entirely the wrong time. He'd been particularly annoyed by the soundtrack of whatever movie Jake had happened to be swallowed by that day, and had given up on finishing the numerous blueprints for important projects to be out shopping for the necessary parts.
Which is why ten minutes into his excursion, before he's even had a chance to make any purchases, he runs into one Jade Harley on the side walk, he steps smoothly past her with nothing more than a nod, entirely content to bypass her as if he hadn't seen her.
For being such a big place, he had the irritating in ability to go more than five paces without running into the people from 'home' that he'd rather avoid.

She says it but isn't actually thinking about it, although she does scrunch up her face exaggeratedly as if she were. Of course, she could've just let him walk past her on the street and gone about her day, but geez back home they've got two more years left of traveling before they can make it to the new session and meet the players there, and here in the Port there's no need for waiting at all, let alone for so long. She may know a lot now, but also only so much, so she's curious.
"Maybe I do. I'm shopping, too. I almost forgot how no one here knows how to work with uranium or use basic stuff like cookalizers or transportalizers. Though I guess I don't need one of those anymore anyway."

There isn't any bite to his voice, but he figures it was pretty obvious what he was getting at. Shopping is pretty standard fair. He might not have ever gotten a chance to do it before Siren's Port, but if you wanted to eat, be clothed and fed properly, it was necessary for all of those things.
It still had nothing to do with him or why she was speaking to him, though. "Uranium is a better source of energy that what they're using, more sustainable. It's useful whether or not you technically need it. If a source can be found."
Lookit how good he humours.

"I wanted to talk to you, duhh!"
She skips forward a few steps so she's less trailing behind him remarkably like a bad stalker and more keeping up with his pace as best she can before going on.
"We never got to talk that much before I went back to the Medium or after I got back."
no subject
It doesn't however, mean he's any more at ease with her seemingly taking an interest in him where there wasn't one before. He doesn't like having questions.
"I didn't know we had anything to talk about. I figured the lack of communication was intentional."
no subject
She smiles at him in a completely innocent and not even a tiny bit playful or devious fashion.
no subject
"And did you?"
no subject
"I did! It's not as much as I'm used to working with, and I didn't want to take too much from Mr Chaolan, but it's better than nothing."
no subject
Now he just needs to figure out who this guy is, and how to get his hands on some of it. Unlike Jade, he has no qualms about cleaning the guy out of the stuff, if it comes to that. What he needs the Uranium for is a lot more important.
But he'll be moving to try and go around her now.
no subject
"That's it?"
She doesn't actually look or sound overly annoyed.
no subject
"Yes. I don't have anything else to discuss. And neither do you." There's a beat in between the phrases. "Enjoy your day, English."
no subject
"What?"
no subject
At least, ignorance is something he can claim. If he has to.
"Don't worry about it, you aren't exactly Jake's grandmother, yet."
no subject
"Future spoilers, huh?" And then - "Oh, that reminds me! Did you ever get a chance to meet Dave or Davesprite?"
no subject
He certainly had no intention of telling Dave- either of them.
"I've spoken with them." Close enough, right? And well, he'd run into Davesprite once, when they'd gone missing. He doesn't really count it as much of a meeting.
no subject
"What! Really? But that's so dumb, you're in the same city and everything."
no subject
But they aren't his Dave's. Not now, and not ever. On top of that, he's met their brother, the one who's supposed to be an alternate version of him. He's here, healthy and alive. Even if he wanted to compete with that he can't. He doesn't know any version of Dave, and starting at square one with one who might be nothing like the guy he's trying to resurrect...
Well, it's not his priority. "Our level of communication is mutually intentional." So leave it alone, Harley.

She stares at him a moment, and then just rolls her eyes, before striding up to him and...
> Jade: Make use of excessive ladygrit to pick up the Strider. Nooo, not like that.
She does, hauling him up right over her shoulder.
