Let's give them something to talk about

Who: Hattie of Ehvenn and Lee Chaolan
When: April 27th, 6pm
Where: Seaside Restaurant
Summary: One guy, one girl, and an EXCELLENT dinner.
Warnings: Talkin' about love.

Well, to say Hattie was excited would be an understatement. She'd never actually -been- to a seaside restaurant before, let alone with such an important person! Being quite the fashionista, however, it was simple for her to prepare something glamorous for dinner- She decided upon a strapless, violet cocktail dress.

The blonde also insisted to meet Lee at the agreed location instead of having him pick her up- that was for her own reasons, of course. The restaurant is gorgeous and classy, with the atmosphere not too hoity-toity.

Hattie arrived a little early, but it was difficult for her to tell if she did so earlier than Lee. Regardless she was quite easily entertaining herself at the waiting area, staring at the massive fish tanks filled with all sorts of exotic fish.

Lee sipped at his wine thoughtfully. "I was planning to hold an open house one day. When we do so, I'll make sure to let you know."

Now, for Hattie's second question, Lee's lips pulled into a tight line as he found himself quite uncomfortable with that idea. And besides that, it was against his principle.

"Miss Hattie, to start of, I am an adopted child. So the idea of favoring my own blood is like denying my roots. To be honest, I would rather let the company go into the hands of a promising manager or a ward I had trained personally. A son or daughter too young or too dull to grasp everything about Violet Systems-- or worse, an offspring wholly uninterested in it will do more harm than good."

Despite his firm words, Lee kept his voice as gentle as possible, not wanting to seem angered by the suggestion. He simply wanted to make his point clear.

"Oh! Thank you, I'd like that."

Hattie had to keep an open mind here- She'd embarrassed herself jumping to conclusions last time, so she had to make a stronger effort not to feel like she was being talked down to.

What he says was all very surprising; adopted? Letting it all go to some person? Granted, he raised a fair point to how a family member could be a downside but she was still shocked and a little perplexed.

"I see, that.. Wasn't what I was expecting at all." Hattie replied with a small smile, "I apologize, where I'm from that's.. Entirely unheard of. It's a little frustrating seeming so 'old fashioned' sometimes, but I think I understand. Rich owners aren't nearly as fit as yourself, either. Do you do some sort of hard labor as well?"

It seemed that Hattie still had to process this new way of thinking. And Lee couldn't blame her, seeing that she was from a completely different day and age-- much like Lady Sheila. Perhaps she'd be surprised by the next tidbit he would give her.

"Actually, staying fit is a pasttime for me. I did build my company from the ground up, but I've never done what people term as hard labor. I keep fit by practicing martial arts-- like brawling, if you're unfamiliar with the term."

Surely enough Hattie was surprised! Though not as much as she would have been when she first arrived; she had heard about all kinds of fighting arts.. She just didn't understand them too well. Thankfully, she was very familiar with the term 'brawling', which she would have turned her nose at before.

But she's very accepting of it these days. She pokes her pointer fingers together, cheeks redenning as she asks, "Um.. I've. I've heard of it. I didn't realize it was a way of keeping in shape. I don't really know how to ask this properly but.. Do you.. Well.. Teach? Martial arts? .. To women?"

Now, it kind of takes a while for Lee to consider an answer to the question. He draws out time by taking a long sip of wine.

"Well... to be honest, I don't teach because I've devoted almost all of my time to building my enterprise, but I supposed it should be good for me to spend a bit of time doing something other than work."

He beams at her.

"I have to say, though, I've never really taught before. I had a friend who was much more capable of it."

Ah, so that's an important detail that Hattie should have picked up earlier- Lee is a workaholic. There were hints before, but he's pretty much just thrown that on the table, as it were. Speaking of which the food has arrived, causing the blonde's eyes to light up. "Ooh!"

But she settled down afterward, only to look rather charmed by his smile. "Well that sounds like it would do you a bit of good then, I think. I'm sure you're good enough to teach me the basics, at least. Ah, but it'd have to be a secret, if that's all right."

"A friend? Was that person your teacher?"

"Ah, well, I don't mind if it gets out in public. Not a lot of people know that I do dabble in martial arts. They often forget that I can stand my own in a brawl, so they have this impression of me as some kind of soft, corporate tycoon." Lee began to pick at the food served to him.

"Just let me know when you would like to learn and I'll try to make time. And... as for that friend of mine, no. He wasn't my teacher. We were classmates, more like."

"Oh yes, I know but.. Well, where I'm from it isn't very.. Ladylike to be well professed in such things." Hattie explains with a flush of her cheeks, "And yet, I do see it's use, so I can't remain ignorant to it forever. At least not while I'm here."

After that slightly awkward confession, her expression brightens, "But yes, I would like that very much, thank you! I think my schedule is more flexible than your own, though. By the way, does your friend know you're a big businessman now?"

"Of course it has its use, especially in a place like this. While it's more convenient to have someone guard you, there will be times you will be caught out on your own."

Lee took yet another bite of his steak.

"Well, if you're working on my time, early mornings during the weekend are the best. And yes, my friend has known for a while that I'm a tycoon."

Hattie would love to have her own bodyguard; that isn't quite in her budget at the moment, but perhaps fortune will eventually smile upon her. The blond pauses mid-bite for half a second, "Oh! Well, I think that'd be perfect, actually! So I suppose that just leaves a location, right?"

Weekend mornings noooo! Her poor beauty sleep. But she'd do it for him!

"And you aren't kidding, this place is crazy.. I'm curious, do you have a rival company? I mean, specifically against you?"

"As for a location... well, we could always demonstrate in the park. But if you'd like, my condominium has a gym. That should be a little more convenient for a beginner such as you."

At the question about a rival company, Lee took a while to consider this before answering--

"No. There haven't been any real rivals for my company here just yet."

"Oh, I see.. It must get a little boring not having someone to keep you on your toes, I bet. Er, not that I plan on taking that spot, I'm mainly using my business to help kick-start a career in fashion design."

That said, her eyes light up at the mention of a gym. And a condo! "Oh a gym! Yes, that'd be perfect!" she exclaims, hands clasped together and looking far more excited than she should.

At that first comment, Lee couldn't help but laugh. "SERO is all I need to keep me on my toes. They're not my direct rival, but I consider them as one."

"Well then, I guess we've got our meeting time and place settled for your lessons. Will you be alright with that?"

Hattie hadn't been keeping up on the AGI and SERO rivalry. Would it have an impact on her own business plans? She supposed she could just deal with that whenever it hits; why bother worrying about it now while it's still small? "Well, I think you'll handle yourself just fine against them."

"Oh yes, of course I'd be all right with that!" she said, with a light clap of her hands, "I can hardly wait, it's so exciting!"

After having Nell get her into fitness, she's a liiiiittle more lenient about breaking a sweat.

"Though.. I do have one more request, if that's all right?" the blonde then asked with redenning cheeks. "I'd thought about it, and I was wondering if, perhaps.. You could give me a ride home after dinner. If that's ok."

"Hm? That's it?" Lee laughed. What a funny lady Hattie was. Then again, it should be expected, given her background. "I wouldn't be a good modern gentleman if I didn't give a lady a ride home, especially at this time. It's too dangerous."

Hattie gave an embarrassed laugh, "Well, I think I sounded a bit snobbish about not asking for a ride before. But that is a good point too, I don't do well against darkness beasts. Thank you for being so patient with me."

The one time she faced them with Ella was enough! However once she starts living a night life, that is going to become pretty inconvenient. She's learned and gained so much this evening! Hopefully at some point she'll be able to return the favor.
