Hnh. Like he would follow in Riku's footsteps that far on purpose.
If anything, the darkness gave him plenty of excuses to do what's true and right- be a part of the Teen Titans, and try to catalog all the monsters, like Darkwin. A keybearer couldn't make any more significant dent in the darkness here, so it didn't matter if what he could put it didn't amount to Sora, Riku, Terra's saving of things.]
