I saw you walking in the dark
Who: Tonegawa and Manfred von Karma
When: 28th June
Where: Lion's Gate
Summary: Tonegawa and von Karma run into each other over a drink. Fancy meeting in a smaller world after all.
Warnings: Just swearing
[It's been a long day, but a rewarding one. A couple of his boys turned up with their payments in full after a gloriously long stretch of interest and a few dozen broken bones, and he's managed to suggest drinks with some AGI big-shot over his stock portfolio. Making friends the old fashioned way. He could always do with someone to overlook Ukyou's old tea-house, but frankly if that gets to be too much of a bother he can always find someone in the corporation to hand it off to now that he has a few more numbers to call.
There are still a few problems, of course. There always are in business. The embarrassment of his poker night is beginning to fade, and he's fairly sure he managed to bluff his way out of any serious trouble, but it's hardly the impression he wanted to leave. Cheating's only worth a damn when you don't get caught. And of course it would have been Claire who figured it out, given his trouble with Laforet-kun.
But that doesn't matter. He's dismissed her for the evening- the current silence between them, though technically identical to the usual silence, is just plain overbearing now- and Tonegawa's only too happy to give himself a pat on the back for a week well spent. He orders himself a large glass of cognac and settles down at the bar, just about resisting the urge to loosen his tie or take off his suit jacket; who knows who could be around? God fucking forbid he look sloppy. He might as well stand on the nearest tabletop and declare himself bankrupt.]

"Mm. A worthy sentiment, Mister Tonegawa, that I feel should be better utilized among those who would see to society's ruin, in their madness."
Indeed, there were far too many for his tastes who would prefer the disturbances of the night, and who stopped at nothing than to undermine what von Karma stood for. Granted, the alleged allegations stood against the company whom he currently chose to affiliate with, but it was a necessity he would readily choose rather than the alternative.
Despite the somewhat questionable repute of the company the sort of Justice it afforded him and allowed von Karma to enforce would bring criminals and fools to their rightful place, he was certain. He had been none-too-pleased about the Szayel Granz case, after all.
