My irreplaceable you Just to look at you
Who: Diegodot Armando and Mia Fey
When: 3rd July, around 4pm.
Where: Diego and co.'s apartment.
Summary: Sometimes reunions can come as quite a shock... especially when they're unexpected. Diego comes home to find the last person he ever expected sleeping on his couch.
Warnings: Angst. And a lot of confusion.
[Mia's headache was beginning to wear off several hours after she had woken up in the middle of the baseball field and even after meeting up with Maya and beginning to let some of the situation sink in, she still couldn't get past the impression that everything was spiralling out of control in some way. It was one thing finding out you weren't dead and stranded in the middle of a thoroughly unorthodox island in Canada, it was quite another to discover that you had family in same situation.
After Mia had managed to pick at some kind of light lunch- the residual nausea hadn't gone away fully even after all this time- she had finally given in to the urge to fall asleep on the sofa. It had been too inviting not to, and on top of everything that had happened that day, she was utterly exhausted. At some point, her lap had been invaded by a small, purring ball of fur, who was doing his level best to be hospitable. Mia, however was far too deeply asleep to mind or protest.
The clock reads 3.55 pm. Mia is asleep, Maya had vanished on an errand and all is still in the apartment.]

[That one, surprisingly, he doesn't mean in a self-deprecating way. It's the truth.]
I can't say for certain that I haven't changed, myself.
no subject
[She puts her hand over his, leaving Mir unattended for a while. The cat can complain later, this is more important.]
Some things haven't changed though, even after all this time.
no subject
Well. He'll need to consider how to phrase a few things.
For now, that warm hand over his is something he never dreamed he'd be able to have again.]
That's right.

[She brushes her thumb over his knuckles and examines her coffee cup for a moment before quietly adding:]
You know... this is the first cup of coffee I've had in five years.
no subject
[HOW DID SHE POSSIBLY SURVIVE?! Well, no, Diego knew that she didn't love coffee like he did. Nobody loved coffee like he did. But she had enjoyed it when he made it and she liked their coffee dates well enough.]
I don't know how you lasted so long.
no subject
[Her eyes are still on the cup in her hand for a while before she takes another sip.]
And you always said that salt ruined the taste.
no subject
[He was teasing. But he lost the will to tease at her next comment, his smile evening out into a quiet, thoughtful look. He takes a long sip of his own coffee before he answers.]
Who in the world would put salt in your coffee? What a terrible person he must have been.
no subject
[After that last sip, her cup's almost empty.]
There were days when it was really hard, and I felt like I was stupid holding out for the cup I wanted, but there's no point in rushing a good brew, is there?
Besides, nothing else was good enough.
no subject
[He smiles again, though there is a wrinkle on his cheek that suggests it's a sad one.]
I'm sorry I made you wait so long.
I should show you my tricks sometime.
no subject
[Her own smile is melancholy; she follows it up with her last sip of coffee and then she sets the cup down.]
You'd better show me all of those tricks, the old ones and the new ones. We've got a lot of time to make up for.
