Who: Jake, Jane, Dirk, Roxy and the AR
When: Nowish
Where: Starting out their apartment, branching out from there.
Summary: Teenagers put on fancy clothing and run around the port.
Warnings: ... Teenagers put on fancy clothing and run around the port.
Jake hadn't used the suit Yukari had forced him to buy since the fancy little event the two of them had gone too. In all honestly, it was not as comfortable to wear as his normal set of shirts and shorts. However, it was sort of a reminder of the two roommates he'd had before his friends from "home" showed up, and he'd moved in with them. It was kind of nice to be able to take out something like this and have a chance to recall Travis and Yukari. Yukari especially, after all she'd saved his life after he'd been caught in an explosion in his very first apartment ever.
Come to think of it, Jake really didn't have much luck when it came to his houses not blowing up.
Those memories aside though, Jake really didn't have much use for a suit. He had something to wear at work, and he had more than enough things to wear on his own time now (again, thanks to Yukari), so the suit was just sort of left to sit there most of the time.
He wasn't sure why he had pulled it out of his sylladex and was looking it over right now. Maybe just for something to do, or maybe because a guy in a suit had reminded him earlier he had this thing in the first place.

The door creaks open, and Jane peeks around cautiously. She feels primped and polished within an inch of her life, thanks to Roxy, and is barely comfortable in the party dress she's been strapped into. As she steps into the boys' room, she gives the neckline another firm, desperate tug.
"When are you going to be ready to go? Because Lalonde's getting-"
Then, she takes a look at Jake, and her eyebrows go up.
"Wow, Jake, you-"
look so incredible I might pass out"-have a suit? When did you get that? It's pretty spiffy."no subject
The smell of burnt hair wafts into the boys' room. Whoops! Turns out Roxy isn't very good at curling her hair by herself, after all. At present, she sets the curling iron down on the dresser of her room and gingerly touches the tip of her ear. It's inflamed, and she winces at the touch, but she'll just have to deal with it.
She leaves her hair alone and follows Jane into Jake and Dirk's room. She's dressed, but she still needs to put her accessories on. Leaning against the door, she lets out a low whistle, very much impressed with what she's presently seeing. "Hot damn. Lookin' good, Jakey!"

Both girls have cleaned up rather nicely, and Jake finds himself almost wishing he had a handkerchief to grab hold of right now. He never expected the two of them to not look good, but wowza!
He clears his throat and tugs a little at his jacket, looking down at his own suit to give him something to do that isn't ogling his female friends. "This? Something my friend Yukari picked out for me back when we were living together. I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces yet, but I figured now was as good a time as any."
Jake looks back up at the two girls and swallows audibly with an almost cartoon nervousness. "And can I add that you both look absolutely stunning!"

Suits appear to be Dave's thing, from any version of the universe, but they definitely aren't Dirk's. He gives his reflection a minuscule frown, mussing up hair that's barely styled any more. He doesn't know how long he's zoned out, staring at this own reflection, leaning against the sink before he starts at the sound of Roxy's scream and the smell of burnt hair assaults his senses.
And here Dirk would have assumed living alone for so long would have made her a little more adept at hair care, sober or not. Finally deciding he's delayed this long enough, he drags himself out of the bathroom and enters the room, fiddling with the sleeves of shirt.
He affects a grin and makes a low whistle at the two girls, before turning to Jake with an arched brow. "As usual, you look like a mess."

Of course, the person is usually Dirk, because as much as the responder goes along with his plans, he's also there mostly just to fuck with him. Or, alternatively, to fuck with Jake. If he could find a way to manage both at the same time, he definitely would.
As it is he forces the holo-function active on Dirk's sunglasses, obnoxiously displaying his sass in the center of the room.
"That isn't how you wear a tie, Jake."

"Jake, have you ever even worn one of these before?" Sorry, Jake, but you're getting your personal space invaded now, by a pair of hands intent on fixing this mess you've made of your necktie. "Like this. You don't tie it in a knot."
As she works on the tie, she keeps her eyes low and her lips pursed in concentration. "We should go ahead and leave, before it starts to get late." She looks back at Roxy and Dirk. "Are you guys almost ready?"
no subject
She quiets down as Jane sets forth on fixing Jake's necktie, and a mischievous smirk reaches her lips. Sorry, Jane, but you're about to get a bunch of obnoxious eyebrow waggling from your girl friend. Roxy's sneaky enough to make sure it goes unnoticed by Jake, though.
"Oh, I'm ready," she finally answers. She lets go of Dirk's arm to pull up her dress a bit. "Just need to get my necklace and earrings on!"

Not that he really minds domestic. He does look just a little flustered by the whole thing though.
"Yukari fixed it for me last time. It's not as if I've ever had an occasion to bother with a tie before."
He tugs one of the sleeves on his suit to straighten it out a little, and distract him from Jane being right there.

"If you need to add to your outfit, you're not ready Rox. You should do that now, they're almot done." He pauses for only a moment to gesture to the new and improved shades, with one singular rhinestone glued to the top left hand corner. He's even decked out his little program friend.
"We're ready." Did you just...Fail to pay attention to anyone else, Janey dear?

"My particular levels of swagger tonight will be penciled in on dangerous, hovering towards life-threatening. Keep an eye on the heart rate of anyone we cross, I wouldn't want to be responsible for any number of untimely trips to the hospital because of my bodacious bod tonight."

"Go finish up, Lalonde. We need to get going!" She slips one foot into its heel, but has to steady herself on the doorway to do the other one. Her feet are not meant for these silly contraptions, darn it.

"Hey, Crocker. What can I do about this?" After she's put the stopper on the second earring, she pulls her hair away to reveal the minor burn on her ear. "It stings like hell!"

Once Jane has skipped off, Jake twists his neck so he can look himself over, and he looks about as ready as he thinks he can be for something like this, considering he's not much of a formal occasion kind of guy.
"I'm sure people will manage to stay on their feet just fine." Jane can fluff up his ego all she wants, because Jake will be there to tear him down whenever possible.
He walks towards the door where everyone is gathered around the time Roxy shows back up.
