Deep down, maybe she knew this day would come.
She'd hoped it wouldn't, certainly; hoped that she go on without ever having to help hurt anything. And as they were rushing to the site, she had a sinking feeling that he wouldn't be able to handle it alone. But all of these observations have been so buried under her natural, bright optimism that his words honestly shock her. It's enough to make her pause, almost stumble, even in her more graceful state.]
Count on me? What do you mean?

[Joe's never ever seemed afraid of facing monsters, and there's no fear in his eyes now, but the height on this this is a little daunting.
Instead, he's calling for tactics- something the Teen Titans practice missions have taught him, the importance of teamwork and strategy over full out enthusiastic recklessness.]
It's gotta be taller than most of the buildings around here...We need to figure out some way to get up on it- So I can hit 'em in the weak spots!

What if they're both killed?]
Too big to handle on your own? I can't - you know I can't do anything to it!
[Because no matter how much she trusts him, the level of distrust she has in herself for a situation like this far outstrips it.]

[He asks weakly, lips pulling back into a wince. Joe takes both of her hands in his and grips them tightly with encouragement.]
C'mon, this is what we're heroes for, what we've been contracted to do! And it's going to destroy everything, unless we do something!
[This is where it might have been better to partner with some kind of heavy hitter. He'd always helped Ahiru not because she was the strongest to team up with, but because she was someone worth fighting for, and guarded his heart from taking on too much darkness in her own way]
If you can just... help me get up on top of it, and distract it, I'll take care of all the ugly business.

Even so, his words manage to break through her fear. It's going to destroy everything. She knows he's right; however tragic it might be, there's no going back from becoming a witch. How many people would be killed if she was too weak to even help him reach the top of the monster?
She looks down, closing her eyes for a second and taking a deep breath, trying to convince herself she can really do this. After a few seconds, there's one though that cements it: if something happened and she turned into a witch somehow, she would want someone to stop her before she hurt anyone. And if this was the only way to accomplish it... Maybe in a way, they were freeing them.
So she looks back towards him and nods. Whatever the danger, they'll be stronger together.]
Do you have any ideas for how to get on top of it and how to distract it? And - are you sure you'll be alright if I leave you up there?

[ Grellzilla, meanwhile, is scooping up cars and tossing them into the air, like so many pieces of confetti. His feet stomp through buildings. He opens his gaping jaws - fiery hearts stream out.
If he gets any closer, they'll be drawn into the psychedelic, disorienting Witch dimension, with its polka dots and mameshiba. ]

[He shakes his head- extensive planning was never his strong point.
But they're wasting time. That thing could be crushing cars and killing people!]
You could...uh...you could dance, right?
no subject
I could dance. I think I know a way to transport you up there.
[And then she looks towards the ongoing destruction; she knows if they get much closer, they'll be pulled into it's dimension, and that's really the only way to make physical contact with the witch. Before she makes any moves toward it, though, she turns back to the boy and hurriedly wraps her arms around him in a fierce hug.
Just in case something happens.]
But you have to promise me you'll be careful.
no subject
It'll be okay. Of course I'll be careful- we can't afford to mess this up.
[One more reassuring squeeze to her hand.]
...You ready to cross to the Witch's side?
no subject
I think - no, I'm ready.
no subject
[Joe doesn't release her hand- they cross the witch's barrier in the same moment.
Not far from here, the world shifts into a realm that's far more colorful, disorienting, with all the floating objects and bright neons. His eyes go wide, to see the lizard-witch close up.]
Whooooahh! Ahiru, it's huge!
no subject
I didn't think... [But she trails off.]

[ Mameshiba! Mameshiba everywhere! And goats!
...hey they got swept along for the ride from Sector 7! ]
