Should've called in sick today
Who: Sora (
lockandkeyblade) and You!
When: July 18 through the week, Backdated for some threads
Where: various locations
Summary: Sora's been body-swapped with Vanitas! This may or may not end badly. Open to all, as well as to those who've plotted with me beforehand. Feel free to plot with me too, or contact me if you have questions!
Warnings: misunderstandings galore, possibly violenceSora getting punched in the face, cat stealing, and Xigbar in PJs
If Sora had known that an encounter with Vanitas and the old lady would end like this, he probably would have taken the long way home. Or even better, taken the day off. Now he's stuck in a body that is definitely not his (even if his face hasn't changed that much) and who even knows if Vanitas is going through the same. He needs to find his friends, or at least an NV to warn them. He needs to find Vanitas and the one who did this to them.
But at the moment, he'll be wandering the streets as Vanitas, looking uncharacteristically frazzled compared to the usual. He's got to deal with the more pressing, immediate matter: the unsavory creatures that spawned around him the moment he woke up. Now they're wandering the street in broad daylight running amok.
Anyone walking in the streets today might find themselves accosted by a rather large Wild Bruiser. If they're much luckier, they might run into a more subdued Prize Pod, bobbing around harmlesslywhen smashed, it gives you cake! They might have things pilfered from them by the Archraven or the Floods.
Either way, whether you run into 'Vanitas' or any other of his Unversed creatures, good luck. Because he knows just as much about stopping them as you do.

[Things aren't going the way he planned. He looks about ready to rip Sora a new one. But he's only temporarily derailed by the latter half of that. (Did he warn Vanitas against...?)
Later. He has to deal with this now.]
I'm not trying to mess with Sora. I am Sora.
no subject
[He snaps the words out harshly, his fury boiling over now.]
I don't care what you look like, you're not any part of him! Stop trying to mess with our heads when it won't work! Just stop!
[And with that, he hauls off and punches Vanitas right across his nose. There's a satisfying crack as the boy stumbles back, and Roxas just steps closer, glaring at him.]
I haven't forgotten that you pulled this on him after he first got here. I know you shouldn't have forgotten what happened next. Or do I have to break another few ribs to get through to you?
no subject
And second? He has to wonder what he's really hearing.]
You... you what?
no subject
[Calmly, Roxas steps forward to loom over Vanitas. Summoning Oblivion, he lifts it until the Keyblade is pointing directly at the other boy's face, its sharp black tip just inches away.]
Do you really want to do this? Think about it.
no subject
This isn't the first time he's been on the other side of Roxas' keyblade, but things are vastly different between them now. Or at least, they should be. He's feeling a whole world of emotions, and he's sure that somewhere more Unversed are probably cropping up. He's upset that Roxas won't believe him, but... he also can't forget what he's heard. Everything Roxas has said, has all in defense of Sora. Even if Roxas doesn't know it is him under there.]
I'm not-- [He'll be standing now, wiping the smears of red trailing down his lip with the heel of his palm.] I'm not gonna fight you, Roxas.
[Not Ventus-Junior. Just Roxas.]
no subject
His name. Vanitas' has only used it once before, and he was clearly out of his mind at the time. Now...]
What did you call me?
no subject
[He says it clearly, though he's not certain of the significance of using Roxas' name. There's a soft sound, like a bloom or a burst of darkness nearby. Not within sight, but definitely close by. It sounds like heartless, but Sora already knows it's not.]
no subject
And yet.]
What happened to 'Ventus Junior'?
no subject
Look. I didn't mean to hurt anybody. It just sort of... happened.
[He can hear the Unversed, feel them more acutely now, moving about. He has to go. And there's likely nothing he can say that won't just get Roxas angry again. Takes one step back, then another.
He has to either find a way to control them himself. Or he has to call for a help from a few friends of his.]
But I'm gonna fix things. One way or another.
[A slight pause.] I'm sorry.
no subject
Yeah, right. You're not sorry for anything.
[But instead of striking or turning to get back to the non-annoying part of his day, Roxas...waits. As if he expects something more, something to convince him one way or the other.]
no subject
A warning, apparently. Because he doesn't want anything bad to happen to Roxas either.]
Just remember what I said about Sora.
If he tries anything, ask him about stuff only we know. [His mind scrambles to think of something. And then, it comes to him:] Ask him about the diary.
[Sora doesn't wait for much of a reaction. No time, really. He's backing away again and then turning, breaking into a run that'll take him further down the street where undoubtedly, there'll be something waiting for him.]
no subject
[He reaches out, tries to stop Vanitas from leaving, but he's too unsure to do anything definitive—to run after him, or cast a Stop spell, or even just yell.
Why would Vanitas say something about his diary? How would he even know about it? If anything, Roxas would expect him to use such a thing against him—make fun of him for having one, or send an Unversed to try to steal it.
Eventually, he turns around and trudges back to Kahve, pulling his NV out of his pocket as he goes. He scrolls down to Sora's name in the contacts lists, and pauses. What would he really say, anyway? Ask him if he remembers the diary? There's no way Sora would forget. Really, the whole thing is stupid. Vanitas is just trying to mess with him again.
He stuffs the NV back where it came from and tries to put the matter out of his mind. There's no way this isn't a trick. No way.]
