A wolf scents the air...
Who:
magnetic_magpie and
southernreaper
When: Feb 9th, 11pm
Where: Random abandoned warehouse in Sector 9
Summary: Kevin saw something and he's not sure what it was.
Warnings: Talk of human experimentation
Kevin had shown up here a couple hours ago. He wasn't taking the chance. He'd climbed up into the rafters and was sitting on a metal beam, his hands bare. He didn't want to run the risk of getting caught without his weapons open.
A shadow was in the doorway and he tensed, but it resolved into Dr. Xavier. Kevin took a moment to be quiet and watch, hoping he'd come alone like he'd been asked to.
Carefully, Kevin climbed down the metal girders, then he tucked his hands into his pockets.
"Dr. Xavier." He said quietly, his shoulders hunched forward. His hair fell into his face, hiding his eyes in the shadow.

"Dr. Xavier." He said quietly, his shoulders hunched forward. His hair fell into his face, hiding his eyes in the shadow.

"Kevin."
He studied the boy, making sure he himself wasn't harmed.
no subject
"Ain't no one with ya?"
Kevin wasn't sure he fully trusted Dr. Xavier, but it was better him than... well, there wasn't anyone else, except Frau. And that wasn't a good choice. Besides, Frau wasn't a mutant and certain things only mutants understood the fear of.

Although that could change in the span of a thought.
"What's wrong?"
He was on edge yes, alert, aware, senses thrown wide, over the area, leaking back to the House, and it wasn't a strain, but it did make him tense.
no subject
"Ain't rightly sure what I done saw." He shoved a hand through his hair, looking very, very young and uncertain. "But." His ears began turning an interesting color. "Sir, I'm from Georgia. I done seen all sorts o' thin's, with Christians claimin'..."
Kevin was a fifteen year old boy who wasn't very comfortable talking about things like this. "It looked like them pictures the protesters carry outside o' lady clinics. Bu' not. Ain't rightly sure what was different, but ya ever seen raw chicken wings?"
His ears were about to explode. He knew it.

"SERO is pretty well known for genetic experiments." It was soft, hollow. Something, some instinct was warning with his mind, some niggle he couldn't explain. He couldn't keep it out of his voice, too caught off guard. Those instincts had been what had kept him alive, he couldn't not listen now. His posture was changing slowly, sharpening to the moment, more alert.
no subject
He'd known that he might be called on to destroy... genetic material.
"Maybe it was." He shrugged. "But there ain't nothin' right 'bout this. Ain't no one talkin' 'bout it. These ain't Voids an'..." He shook his head again. "It's a gut feelin', Dr. Xavier. Somethin' ain't right."
no subject
His face was drawn, jaw clenched. "Were was this?"
no subject
He shoved his hands through his hair again. "Think they's just below the regular genetic labs. Ain't real sure, though. C'n lead ya in, bu' that's 'bout it."
He couldn't even draw a map.
no subject
He thought it over for a minute. Kevin, as of yet, didn't know he was working for SERO.
"You remember the image inducers from school?" He reached for his wallet, waiting on the answer.
no subject
Of course, he'd love to have one himself, but that was for different reasons.
no subject
"Ever noticed him around?" He'd noticed Kevin.
no subject
He disliked that woman.
"There's a corridor off of C Wing, that ends in a staircase. Take it down, then take the first right then the third left. That's where I was." No harm in telling, was there?
no subject
"I can check it out. Do you know who is working on it?"
no subject
no subject
He took a breath.
"Kevin. Lad. I'm going to ask something terribly unfair. Something I understand which will be very difficult for you. And I'm sorry, but I must. Understand?"
no subject
His hands slid from his pockets; his only weapons but deadly enough. He didn't trust Xavier, except Ms. Frost did, which was the reason he'd brought it to him, rather than her.
He tensed, ready to run.
"What's that?"
no subject
He recognized Kevin was tense, and there wasn't much he could do about it. Getting Kevin to trust him was extremely difficult.
no subject
His jaw ticked and he looked away. He didn't want to be a hero. Not here. Not without the rest of the Hellions. He missed them. Julian, Soo, Cess... all of them were grounding for him and they understood each other.
But he was alone. It was just him trying to figure out how to deal with an alternate dimension that made no sense, where people hated him just as much as back home.
"Fine." He turned away. He'd help, but he sure as hell wasn't going to like it. He was going home.
no subject
He wasn't going to ask Kevin to get involved, but whatever he would see any way? Yes he wanted him to pay attention. He needed that information.
no subject
"I ain't lookin' fer fair. Stopped doin' that a long time ago." Kevin snapped. "I'll do ya dirty work, Xavier."
He turned away again and left the warehouse. He didn't have anything else to say.
