Who: Eric Slingby and Magneto
When: August 18th, evening
Where: HoA
Summary: Eric goes for allergy shots, and there is a... talk
Warnings: Relationship angst, nothing serious

[Eric leaves a little early, telling Alan he wants to get to the field, because they're close to being due for another wave. Instead of going to work, he goes to see the Good Doctor.

He knocks on the door, rubbing the back of his neck.]

Hello?

You're getting it because of how you acted when he arrived and was stable while you were injured and in need of medical care. Because you are keeping information from him which if the role was reversed you would be upset over.

Ah, but you being in distress was upset and stressing him - and you were too focused on Alan to see that. I'm not saying he shouldn't have something to make him happy - pets are beneficial, medically, but if you were to reserve the situation - he was seeking medical treatment in secret so as not to tell you. it just something you need to watch for.

No, I'm not. But you aren't the only immortal beings to exist Eric. But if you are going to use that metaphor - go to the beach, and try to hold onto a handful of sand.
magnetic_magpie: (616 Magneto - SIGH)

[personal profile] magnetic_magpie 2012-08-22 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a reason that metaphor is used.

[He did understand Eric wasn't Human - that was something so few understood - he could easily understand how others weren't Human, how other other cultures handled things or didn't handle things and it not be analogous to Humans.

That didn't change what this was - which was Eric was in fact too enmeshed.

Like any other teenager in love. Immortal or no, older than him or no - Eric was very much a teenager to Magneto's mind.

And he never really dealt with teenagers well.
]

I understand more than you think.

Not that you are going to listen to a think I have to say, are you?

Ah, but that is not the case here. I do understand needing to hold onto something good. But you do have to adapt, to change.

[He shifted, pulling a chart loose.]

You know something really interesting about heart rates?
magnetic_magpie: (616 Magneto - Doctor)

I'm not suggesting you do.

[He waves it lightly.]

When two people lay chest to chest or chest to back, their heart rates will begin to match each other. So if two people are laying together and a person is anxious or upset - or in pain - and the other is calm, then the upset one's heart rate will start to calm down and match the other.

The more calm and relaxed you are, the more Alan will be - which is good for both of you.

[He answered plainly as he made notes on the chart.]

I don't believe you are 'too in love' with him. I think you very devoted, but anxious and worried - and I'm not saying you don't need to be. He's ill, that is cause to fret. But you are...overly protective. Which means you carry anxiety and tension. Which isn't good for either of you.
