There Is A Dinner Party Right Across The Hall
Who: Phancyhive and invited/close CR!
When: Wednesday Evening for supper
Where: Phancyhive
Summary: With so many new additions to the household, it's only proper to welcome them with a dinner party.
Warnings: A bunch of crazy people around a dinner table. What could possibly go wrong?
[Ciel hated parties. Really, he did. They were an unbearable drudgery of having to socialize but he could manage to endure for one night. It was expected of him to host such an event, what with the new additions to the household, so despite his desire to lock himself away in his office, he'd been dressed in lovely clothes and had the whole thing arranged.
The dining room itself was decorated exquisitely and the food that had been set out was unbearably tempting to anyone who'd glance upon it. Hopefully, the whole night wouldn't be an ordeal. The last thing needed was more stress.]

[And all the abuse sails over his head, or rather, bounces off his megawatt smile. Can't faze him yo.]
Will you please help me with my hair, love? I keep plaiting it crooked.
no subject
[Ohhh so haughty. But after a beat, he holds his hand out to Jack, even if he's pointedly looking in the other direction.]
Come on. You should look decent before you go in.
no subject
I missed you quite a lot, ah-
[He mutters, scrubbing at an eye while he curls his hand around Alois'.]
no subject
You're kind as ever, [is all that he murmurs. He's very good at shying away from things he sees and knows.]
no subject
Thank you.

[It's a quiet question. Alois' hands are curled over Jack's shoulders, and without realizing it, he's gone up on his toes ever so slightly, to better reach. His voice, too, is muffled by Jack's hair, which is everywhere, and makes Alois sad.]
You came home already, so why are you crying?
no subject
[he says, shaky and pained and with a voice so raw it's like it hasn't been used in a century,]
Back in my world, I think I never knew it at all.
no subject
[His fingers tighten, then loosen.]
Your plait - let me...

[he lets Alois go, still sniffling, but he seems genuinely relieved that Alois didn't push him away. He drops a quick kiss on the crown of Alois' head before trotting off to the nearest chair, pulling out a brush and a ribbon.]

When your heart hurts and you want to cry, Jack... When you need something and it seems like that need won't ever be filled - that's what love feels like.
[Abruptly, he wonders what it would be like to wind Hannah's hair into plaits. It makes him stop for just a moment as he fights the urge to yank Jack's hair harshly, but it passes and he takes cautious care of the gold he's holding.]
I don't like loving things, anymore. But I won't ever forget what it is.

[He tips his head to the side, a fraction, and he draws up a knee to his chest. The ribbon, he winds across his fingers.
And here's a thought, and he smiles into his hands.]
Goodness, you really do sound like a teenager.

[The only relief now is that Jack can't see his flustered face. It's nice to drop the chilly features and sulk with hot cheeks. The brush is wandering up, making its travels to the crown of Jack's head, though right now it's only a little below his shoulders.]
no subject
[ he laughs to take the sting out of it.]
It's nice to see you acting your age.
no subject
...Well, he refrains.]
I'm not saying I know everything! I just - I just know this. And anyway... [He's separating Jack's hair, now, trying to keep the brushed bits away from the mussed.] I'm nearly an adult now.
no subject
Do you want to become an adult?
no subject
Does it matter? Wanting to won't make it happen any faster, and not wanting to won't make it happen any slower.
[Now the task of gathering aaaaall that hair and dividing it evenly into threes.]
no subject
[TRYING TO PEEK AGAIN. Let me see your face, Alois.]

[Jack smiles, soft and warm, and he shifts to pat Alois on the cheek - good thing his hair is long enough.]
