I must become a lion hearted girl, ready for a fight
Who: Nill & Dave
When: Forward dated to the night of the 18th.
Where: Some street in the darkness.
Summary: Nill got her ass kicked, and Dave just so happens to be immune to her best defense.
Warnings: Blood and gory descriptions! Seriously, if that stuff bothers you, don't read this. Also Dave's mouth maybe.
[Nill isn't actually sure where she is. Though she tried to pay attention to the streets after she'd started to run, at some point her vision got to blurry to see them, and she'd kept moving. Even though time was stopped and the streets were virtually empty at night, Nill needed to keep moving, needed to get as far away from that monster as she possibly could. If she didn't, it was going to kill her, and she couldn't afford that.
Maybe if it was only after her, but she'd been able to take pictures after she stopped time. She needed to get them on the network, to warn people... She couldn't stop now just because it would be easier.
So Nill kept moving, breathing heavily, using the air circulation to create bursts of wind under her feet to help keep her going.
But even with that determination and effort, she can only go so far for so long. Around her reality flickers, everything moving for half a second before coming to a halt again. The added strain of keeping time stopped makes Nill stumble and trip, falling to her knees, blood splattering messily against the ground. She drops the gun in her hand and presses a hand to the gaping wounds against her side and part of her back, though it does nothing to stop the flow of blood.
This wasn't good... she was so cold.]

so no one else has this feelinghave to feel like this again. She's so cold, almost like a corpse. He can see the signs of death encroaching upon her as he jerks back.Dave's power flares out, the red over taking the stilled time as he uses his power to stave off the bleeding just a little longer. She's alive, she's still with it. He can save her.] Chill. Looks like you got a bit of time's touch too.
[He winks at her, as if he's not scared he's going to lose his friend. A wide confident smirk graces his face as he reaches out and puts his arm around her, hand placed so he can pour his power into her wounds directly. The other arm goes under her knees and he lifts her gently.] Hold onto me, kay. Just tell me where the hospital is and I'll have you there. Don't worry about a thing, I got time.
[Scarlet power floods the area like a sea as gears begin to turn in his pupils behind his shades, that back lit with the red.] All of it.

She tilts her head just a little; if she had more energy, she'd shake it, but she's worried moving too much will make her bleed out faster. She doesn't have time's touch, not really; her time was stolen and bought, and she doubts whatever really rules over it favors her. Maybe that's why it's harder for her than it seems to be for him.
He doesn't fool her, though. Nill has seen people bleeding out, and just like her hands shook then and adrenaline coursed through her veins, giving her away to anyone that looked, his thoughts give him away. She's so sorry to put him through this.
Nill's gun is forgotten on the ground as he lifts her, and she raises an arm to wrap it around his neck, even though it's kind of uncomfortable and she's already shaking in his arms, shock beginning to settle in. The other arm, though it tugs at her ripped skin and sends pain (that that's becoming worse by the second as the adrenaline ebbs away) shooting through her nerve endings, she clumsily reaches into a pocket on her jacket with, and pulls out her NV. She presses it to Dave's chest, just enough strength to convey that if nothing else, this is important.
And then, she starts talking to him; a soft, quiet voice in his head, though there's urgency there. It gives nothing of her pain away.]
Dave. Listen-- please, this is important. The thing that attacked me. It was huge. It was so fast, and I couldn't do anything. I took pictures. If I can't, you need to get them on the network. Tell people that if they see it, they need to run. They can't fight it.
The password is 3897981. 3897981. Okay?

It's a shock when her voice slips into his mind. His smile drops and he frowns at her, whisking her NV into his sylladex to protect it. He doesn't like what she's saying, but like the game...some times things are bigger than one person. Like breeding frogs and walking right into your own death. Or staring into the abyss where the dark gods wait to hear from a prince.
He'd get those pictures where they needed to be. Even if it took a thousand time loops to do it. That is all there is to say on the matter.
It takes a second to locate the hospital. He takes off, darting down the street. His speed coupled with exploiting time eats up the distance like as if it were tissue paper. Water is thrown up as he races past, and he hopes it's not too late to save her.]

It's not like she hadn't known she was going to die, though. That had been the whole point. Get away from the people that mattered, so that someone else could be responsible for her death, because there was no way she could kill that many people. No way she could even think about touching the people she loved - so Nill ran away to die.
Sometimes there are things that are just more important than your own life, or what happens to you in the end. Sometimes there are people that the world needs, and they're an awful lot more important than you are, even if the rest of the world doesn't actually think so.
This isn't quite the same really, but it's close enough, and Dave understands. So when he looks down at her, she manages a small smile back up at him (even though her lips are starting to look a little blue).]
Thank you.
[He gets it, and she's not sure who else really would. With her NV gone, her fingers curl in his jacket, in part because moving her arm in any other way would hurt too much right now, and in part because she doesn't want him seeing that her nails are starting to go blue, as well. The fact that he's stopping her from losing much more blood is helping immensely - she might already be dead if it were still bleeding at the rate it was - but she's still lost a lot of blood, and her body isn't coping with it well.
Nill closes her eyes and holds on for the ride because the whole world is spinning, but she's not sure if that's because of Dave or because of the blood loss. Either way; she's still alive when they reach the hospital, though breathing shallowly and quickly. Now that they're finally far enough away, she lets go of the hold she had on time, and sags with relief against his chest. There was no way it could have followed them there... right? They probably hadn't left a trail for it to pick up on after Dave picked her up.]

But he holds fast to the time he's poured into and is holding at bay for her. Even as the nurses shout and people treat the situation like the emergency it is. He doesn't leave her side even as the gurney comes. He has to reassure himself she'll pull through. Because he's sick of losing people.]
no subject
She's totally unconscious by the time the gurney comes, and there's no resistance in her limbs when the frantic staff pull Nill away from Dave to set her down and actually see what's wrong with her. Her jacket is black, and it's difficult to see the full extent of the damage until they cut it off of her.
The damage looks a lot worse than they were expecting. There are five huge, long claw marks in her skin, running from the side of her shoulder down over her side, and over her hip. It hit her wing, too, but the damage there doesn't seem too severe, while bits of white show through the mangled flesh where it cut as far down as her rib cage. Whatever attacked her was most definitely trying to kill her.
One of the nurses runs off immediately, saying something about her having a chart, them knowing her blood type. The people of Skye Medical know Nill, either from the weeks she spent there over the summer or the two times she's brought half-dead people in the past few months.
They also know she's good for her bills, and so they don't hesitate to start talking blood transfusions, surgery to try to stitch her side back together, though it's all rushed while they try to get her ready. They can't wait, she can't wait, and they're all moving as fast as possible. One of the nurses pulls a now-bloodstained locket off from around Nill's neck and drops it into a pan, while others work at cutting away the rest of the clothes in their way while they wait for the first nurse.
She comes back eventually, and then they're trying to take Nill away. The whole time, another nurse is there, trying to make sure Dave doesn't get close to the point that he'd get in the way, and then trying to make sure he doesn't follow.]

He rubs under his shades, aware he's covered in Nill's blood. Blood, they mentioned her needing blood. He can do that. He has been here once before.] Would you at least let me give blood for her. Even if it can't be used, you can use it for someone else.
no subject
"Do you know your blood type?" [And then, after looking back up at Dave,] "You should probably get cleaned up before you try to give blood. I can bring some scrubs out for you to change into, and there's a shower you can use."
no subject
Just point me at the shower and I'll get cleaned up first. [He'd change into something else. He thinks about it and reasons a pair of jeans and a shirt from his sylladex would work.] Don't worry about spare clothes, I got that covered.
no subject
"You should be fine to donate, then." [Normally she'd bring up a parent or legal guardian signing him off, since he looks pretty young, but a lot of the Newcomer kids don't have them, and just looking at Nill's chart it's obvious she's a Newcomer. So this time, she waves it off. They might actually be able to use his blood.
That said, she gestures off to the side of the main emergency room unit.]
"Go down that way, and make a left. It should be the second door on the right. When you're done, make sure to press the button inside so someone comes to sanitize it."
no subject
Dave follows the instructions and washes off. He takes a moment to look over his scars, mechanically getting the blood off and rinses out the shirt he'd been wearing along with the pants. When he's done the clothes go into his sylladex and he steps out, drying off. The scrubs are waiting for him and he debates with himself about it. Only to put them on a moment later, and putting his shades back on. He hits the button and steps out into the hall. He's ready to give up some blood to help a friend.]
no subject
You're the one that brought her in?
[She has an actual physical chart on hand instead of a computer, and she flips a few pages in it.]
Aren't you a little young to be out at night? Even that girl is always getting mixed up in things...
no subject
Youth ain't got anything to do with it. I know how to take care of what's out there. So I do.
no subject
I assume you have no family here? Most Newcomer children don't. Have you been given a legal guardian?
[Apparently while the last nurse wanted to get things over with quickly, Sa'ida is slightly more old fashioned.]
You're a bit too young for this... The legal age is seventeen. You're younger than that, aren't you? Or do you have ID saying otherwise?
no subject
Just. Ok. Look. [He pulls his shades off, exposing his red eyes to show how serious he's about to be. The stoic look drops away, leaving a tired but serious beyond his years boy in its place.]
She lost a lot of blood, to the point her lips were turning blue. Do we really have to roll through this run around when she needs what I can give right now? I assure you I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. Shit in my family you just kept on rocking through any pain.
We also don't have any history of heart defects, or weird diseases. Does that cover this?
no subject
The nurse considers arguing the point further, but when she looks in Dave's eyes, she sees something that she's seen in the eyes of a lot of kids who come in and out of here. She saw it in Nill's eyes the last time she came here with the boy everyone thought had tried to kill himself, the boy she was with, almost everyone that was there over the summer... And the thing is, none of those kids tell anyone a thing when they come in here, and even if they did, no one is listening to them anyway.
Sa'ida lets out a sigh, and flips her chart closed. This was going to be hell if she got caught... She was too old for this stuff.]
You're her brother, right? I don't think we can say you can't help her when you're so close to seventeen.
[Without waiting for his response, she starts heading down the hall, with a gesture for him to follow.]
no subject
He learned that way early in life. If you walk like you know what you're doing most people ignore you. Score one for Dave Strider.]
hahaha that icon is beautiful
You can't actually leave the hospital until sunrise after this, but we have a few rooms set aside for people that get stuck here at night, if you want to lay down.
[She stops, back near the main ER, and pushes aside a curtain. The inside looks a bit like a typical doctor check up room, separated from the rest of the place by the curtain.]
Take a seat on the table there, dear. I'll be back in a moment.
[And just like that she's off again, marking off sections on her chart while she walks. Sa'ida's an expert at this stuff, even if she can't say she approves entirely. She's got this.]
I will do it icly one day
He's already starting to feel it. But being Dave Strider, he endures. It's not a huge deal.]
as you should
This isn't quite standard, but it's a lot easier to do things here and not get caught than to actually go to the chairs where donors usually sit for donations, which are considerably fancier than this. She pulls out a packet with a swab inside that's soaked with iodine, and rips it open.]
Which arm do you want this done to?
no subject
It helps he is what he is. That he's been so tired he could barely scratch the records. He knows how to operate and keep going longer after he should have stopped.]
no subject
Thankfully, Sa'ida is a very experienced nurse, so she doesn't miss the vein. Blood starts flowing through the tubes immediately, and she tapes the IV down near the entrance site as well, before covering that with a large square of gauze and taping that down.]
I'm afraid this isn't an immediate thing, dear. You'll have to wait for about fifteen minutes. Try not to move your arm too much.
