It's our rate of success that's sadly been weak...
Who: Meowth, Mary Winchester, and Jesse Pinkman.
When: TODAY.
Where: Mary's apartment.
Summary: Mary had a little cat that promptly got in trouble with every crime lord in Siren's Pull, lost his gang, his "status", and now owes a lot of people a lot of money. So clearly the only thing for a Pokemon to do is get super powers to hide himself. It goes badly.
Warnings: GRATUITOUS USE OF ACTION SPAM.
[Meowth paces around the living room in frantic little circles. Jesse should be here any minute, but that doesn't stop him from whining in Mary's general direction while her actual cats stare at him.]
What if I can't talk no more when I look like them? [He points accusingly at the cats who yawn and glance away.] I mean, I gotta keep this talkin' thing on the downlow anyway, 'cause the jig'll be up for sure then, but this cat ain't one to hold his own tongue forever, y'know. I worked hard t' learn how to speak human.
[There are so many variations on this rant and Mary has probably heard all of them by now.]

Is your cat trying to shake me down?
no subject
Sorry you had to find this out.]
He's a little slow on th' ol' uptake, ain't he?
tardy to the motherfucking party
He does that. Sometimes.
[She doesn't understand any of the people in her life. Or why they're there.]

Hey, cat. Relax. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't gonna deliver. But if you scratch me, I'll seriously throw you in a bathtub.
[And then back to Mary:]
Hold him still.
[He doesn't really wait before reaching out to place his hand on the top of Meowth's head.]
no subject
I CAN HOLD MYSELF STILL, YOU PEABR- Huh. [And now he's calm. Out of curiosity more than anything.]
no subject
What exactly are you giving him?

[Jesse keeps his hand firmly planted on Meowth's head while he talks. And... he can't help but give the ears a little scritch. It's a cat, okay. He wants to pet it. Meanwhile, the power transfer is actually occurring, but there's nothing obvious to signal it. No magical glow or anything. Only Jesse can tell it's actually happening.]

[Then again, learning a new ability usually didn't make a Pokemon feel any different and that's all this was. Actually being able to Transform after all those months of faking it for Jessie! If only she were here to get a look at him now.
Now all he had to do was focus on what he wanted to be and then...
Shifting, as it turns out, is incredibly unpleasant when you're not made of putty like a Ditto. Meowth lets out a yelp of surprise when it starts. He's seen evolution and transformations and everything like it, but feeling it is another thing entirely.
And when it's over, he feels dizzy and lightheaded. He opens his eyes blearily and blinks.] That was a trip. [He groans and raises a hand to scratch his ears only to find his fingers digging into hair.] Huh?
[He touches his face.
Oh.
Yeah. That's the face of someone about to have a panic attack. Enjoy that. Along with the fact that there's, in fact, a very naked teenage boy where a cat was moments before.]
no subject
I don't think you would feel different.
[then he starts changing and Mary drops him unceremoniously with a yelp.]
Oh my-!
[It's as weird looking as it probably feels, even though she's used to the archangels changing form in front of her. Given that, though, it's easy for her to get over her shock first and grab Meowth's wrist to stave off the warning signs she sees of impending panic.]
Meowth. Breathe. Do you want a mirror?
no subject
I dunno if a mirror's the best idea, yo...
[That's experience talking. Few things are more unnerving than one's reflection - especially when it's radically changed.]
Hey, cat, don't freak out. You can change back any time.
