An ounce of practice
Who: Snow White (
towerlocked) and Celes (
runebladeknight)
When: Backdated all the way to Oct. 14
Where: A secluded field.
Summary: Snow wants to learn to use her knife properly. Who better than a former general to help out?
Warnings: Possible violence, of course. But nothing bad.
It had been a while since she’d taught anyone. Back in her old Imperial days, she’d done it all the time as a matter of course. But since leaving the Empire? It hadn’t been necessary. Her friends had been plenty skilled without her having to drill techniques into them.
She waited in the field, hair pulled back to keep it out of her eyes while they trained. She hadn’t been the kindest teacher in the past, and she had little idea what to expect of herself now. Would she be a little kinder? Or resort to her old ways as a default. There was only one way to find out.
And regardless, Snow would learn.

She greeted Celes with a nod, taking out the knife and holding it out. "I am ready to learn."

"Defense first; you'll need to learn about fights from both ends." She slipped her own out of its sheathe, the blade smooth and well-kept. Let it not be said that she did not care for her weapons, even if she didn't use them often.
Her fingers instinctively slid into the hammer grip. "Set your wrist, keep it steady. The first thing someone is liable to do is to try and disarm you; this grip grants you the best stability and greatest range of motion."

A part of her knew she probably wouldn't remember this lesson if she ever returned home. A part of her wasn't sure she would even be alive. But here and now it was important.
