broken down by the sound of your prelude
Who: Dreamin' (
iudex) & Accidentally Dreamwalkin' (
psychopath).
When: Late night on the 31st.
Where: Phancyhive, but in a dreamfield.
Summary: In which Oswald takes the risk of making a part of Lake Meridian in a dreamfield and accidentally tugs the closest sleeper (Jack) in. oops??
Warnings: Thankfully no pie gallows! Check yourself before you wreck yourself, Jack.
[oswald slips up when he starts - the key tonight is to make sure the setting is the last thing in your head before you sleep. he thinks and thinks, and slips because while he's thinking of lake meridian golden lights come to his distant mind.
the abyss taints this field that's mostly forest, but when he opens his eyes and sees the lake - shallow waters just in case someone wandered in and right into the lake - and nessie basking in the sunlight near the shore, maybe it's not so much of a mistake. the lights aren't present where he can see, so maybe they're further in. he tends to tuck the more personal aspects of his fields away in boxes, in spheres, under tight lock and key -
he pushes himself away from the tree he's sitting against, atmosphere as calm and quiet as he can make it, and slips over to the lake shore, blinking when nessie doesn't move. sleeping? weird thing. looking up warrants the sight of the bottom of the floating mountain - strong enough to make that in its entirety he sees. as long as it doesn't drift he should be fine; it'll stay immobile and he won't have to waste any dream energy on it. lake meridian is beautiful as it is, all stones, crystal clear lake, strong lake monster, the forest, and...
that temporary house that had a purpose. he'd rather sleep near the lake than go there and look. at least- for this visit. oswald thinks he can get away with it once.
with luck, he won't end up pulling anyone in; jack's first in his mind, and ciel, gilbert, and ahiru are all next. there are other occupants, but oswald far from cares (about anyone who isn't jack). - still, he didn't make this field to stress over things. he made it to escape from his nightmares for a night - maybe two if he can manage to not pull anyone in. if he does pull anyone in, it's likely that they'll show up close so it's not as if he'll miss them at any time tonight.
forcing them out would just hurt them.
it's a long shot, but it's worth it to save himself from the sight of another noctaere.]

oh no so tenacious why this gently unbarnacles you from self
and, sure he remembers that, and raises his head when he feels that tug so that he can properly nod without further burying his face against jack's neck. jack's lips surprise him and it's definitely quick enough have oswald blinking and remembering that he thought he wouldn't let that happen anymore.
it's still really, really weird, but jack blushes like he did before and oswald counters by kissing a corner of his mouth. it's alright because jack's a man and oswald's not tired now! logic produces tiny spider babies like that - somehow, anyhow.
although... he wasn't hiding out, and for a second he looks jack in the eyes and looks like he has something to say—
but, he decides against it.
there's no point.]
;o; drifts slowly away into sea of tears
he settles back again, satisfied, lazily thumbing oswald's cheekbone before poking him in the forehead. maybe his eyes will cross.]
I'm going back to sleep. [happy dreams, come to daddy.] You?
noooo glues hand to your face--
oswald's content enough to deal with being poked in the forehead, though. no crossed eyes for you, mister!]
...I think I might go out. [so sweet dreams, daddy.]
bites hand X-(
[he threatens, in a very non-convincing fashion, seeing that he's already half-asleep, fingers scraping at the back of oswald's neck.
doesn't oswald know how attractive he is...and would he like to be reminded of his impure effect on jack's thought processes....maybe if he looks into oswald's eyes really hard he'd see an elephant. golden elephant.]
Come back to me, okay? [he murmurs, eyes-half shuttered, entirely trusting that yes, maybe promises won't be broken this time.]
bites cheek B(
[because healing... and then he realizes he's not helping his case any.] I won't get hurt, Jack. [- at least jack's half asleep and hmmm. oswald hums, low and throaty as he starts pulling himself away.
oswald doesn't think of himself as attractive... pshhhhh bring it. pure pure pure-- there will be not be a golden elephant. only in your dreams, jack.
he does pause though, reaching down and brushing his fingers over jack's jaw to reassure him.] ...mm. I'll be back.
[he's just not sure when. maybe in an hour, maybe in the morning when the darkness recedes - maybe after he takes a nap in the woods somewhere like a doofus.]
.....no dont do that too cute brb dying
okay he really is half-asleep; apparently getting sucked into a dream field is exhausting. As well as confessing your love, but- yeah.
jack turns his head into oswald's touch and closes his eyes, breathing evening out into blissful sleep, smiling. he'd better be there when jack wakes up or he'll go yan all over again :T]
nope bites the other cheek too!!
oswald will be far more careful with his dreamfield next time - the glens want a Meeting and he'd hate to catch anyone up in that. but, later. much, much later, when oz and jack are the least of his worries.
for now, he's making sure that jack's asleep before he snatches up his coat and boots and heads out tttto exhaust himself and blow black feathers all over siren's port! he'll be there when jack wakes up...... with freshly changed clothes bc nope not seeing any scratches on him, good sir! he likes being a Free Bird ty.
he's getting the hang of this "hiding my healing wounds and torn clothes from jack" thing!
he's been doing it all month]
