November New Arrivals Log!
Who: October Arrivals, Greeters, NPC recruiters & anyone else who happens to be hanging around the Tower Apartments to 'welcome' newcomers.
When: Throughout October, 2012 (Please Specify Date & Time in Thread Header)
Where: The Sector 4 Baseball Diamond, Parking Lot & Lobby of the Tower Apartments
Summary: This is your catch-all one stop log for arrival interactions! New Newcomers can also meet and mingle in the apartment lobby.
Warnings: Nausea, potential for violence, language- add on any warnings or ratings as they come up.
It feels like a whiplash, like being plucked up into the sky and sucked through a very tight dark space before being deposited rather roughly in the City. You will be disoriented, dizzy, slightly nauseous, and very sore upon arriving in Siren's Port. The weather is chilly in November, and while new arrivals may be lucky enough to arrive during the safety of the day, the danger of night is growing longer.
Until recently, no one knew why, but every new arrival from another world gets deposited in the dead center of an ill-kept baseball diamond.
Some of the fences and signboards have been replaced with information and welcoming signs, posted by Newcomers as encouragement. However, from time to time some form of degrading graffiti'd tag might appear here or there, 'Go Home!' or 'Now You're Fucked, Newmeat' 'Welcome to Sirens Port, Population: Too Many to Add One More' and 'Attention Newcomers: Please wait here till sunset sirens to receive your welcoming package!')
A person is thrown from their pull somewhere within the fenced-in baseball field, either in the dirty infield or tossed rolling into the overgrown dirty outfield. A recent fire has charred the left side of the outfield, and grass is only starting to grow back.
Standing on second base and facing home plate, one will see a rotten, old and deteriorating backstop and chain link fencing, much like any little league baseball field. Broken down bleachers made of worn out green painted wood can be seen in disarray behind this, and some old trees line the wall and fencing along the right side.
To your left is a walled in Dugout with a secured door. The dugouts are made of thick concrete and set low into the earth. This one has been outfitted as a safe place to enter during the night to hide and wait out the morning. Sometimes Greeters can be found here, waiting for people to show up. The Dugout to the right has also been cemented over and secured with a heavily guarded and armored door.
The Baseball Diamond is maintained by the city Government, who allow greeters access to the infield to retrieve new arrivals, but preserve the area's neutrality. Everyday citizens and corporate affiliates are not allowed access to the diamond. The small building constructed over the right dugout is still guarded heavily by government-controlled Voids, to block public access to the Core. Those who cooperate with greeters will be treated fairly and be given helpful information, lead to the Tower Apartments and offered a month's lodging. Those who put up a fight will be met with Voids and detained by police.
Just beyond the fence, in the Tower Apartments parking lot and lobby, SERO and AGI recruiters will be passing out informational leaflets presenting company propaganda, including discounted coupon booklets and travel-sized toiletries as a "Newcomer Welcome Package".
Other then the lights around the Core dugout, there is one single electric light above home plate that remains on, even in the Darkness. There is an open walkway near the dugouts that leads into the parking lot of the Tower Apartments. The front doors of Tower One are always kept unlocked, but you had best close them again quickly if you slip inside during the night. The office of the Landlord is well marked near the lobby, and you'll receive keys there.
The second tower is abandoned and boarded up, still scorched in places. Asking around, you might hear about the anti-newcomer movement and an attempt to blow up both towers back in January. You'll be advised not to go wandering in there- it's no doubt structurally unsound, though the first tower still stands tall and (mostly) functioning.
The general atmosphere in the city is tense this month- the darkness is longer and the nights may seem claustrophobic- the Underground Mall is a packed escapist paradise on the weekends, with overnight stays at the many motels popular. AGI dominates the nightlife scene in Sector 1, but SERO's state-of-the-art Zipz Arcade, nearing its 2nd year in operation this month, is a serious contender for the bored and restless. Many people are anxious about tightening corporate security and the demands of loyalty for affiliates and employees of both Afterglow Inc. and SERO, though SERO appears to be taking the most dramatic measures to ensure their people are full supporters of company values.

A cat?

[Frau shrugs because really he still hasn't figured out what actually happened. It was just too weird.]
Ah, yeah. This is Tolly.
[He leans down to scoop the cat up into his arms, and she promptly goes to work chewing on her favorite thing. His gloves.]
no subject
[He never really pictured Frau as a cat lover..or much of an animal lover at all but there is still so much he doesn't know about the bishop.]
no subject
When I first got here there was a big subjugation you could say of feral cats. A lot of people did rescue efforts and then had to find them a home. The guy was a good salesman.
[Not that Frau had been a hard sell.]
no subject
[Teito actually doesn't know too much about cats. But at least if the cat was here..it meant Frau couldn't have been too lonely while Teito was gone. At least that is his hope.]
no subject
She's demanding at least.
[Though Frau did love her quite a bit, and Teito would probably be able to pick up on that fact. Frau isn't going to give him that much of an opportunity to do so though.]
Let me show you your room.

Teito walks in to his room then looks towards Frau again, giving him a look that has more confidence then he might actually be feeling.]
I'm not going anywhere. I won't leave this place without you again. [Teito would find a way..somehow.]
no subject
[It's said almost deadpan, the real emotions boiling behind the words so deeply locked away they aren't remotely visible. Frau knows full well that it could happen again. The last time he'd let his morals slip more than he liked to admit. Next time, well, he didn't really want to think about what could happen.]
no subject
[Teito is determined and when he puts his stubborn little mind to something..well he isn't going to rest until he finds what he needs. Even if something seems impossible, Teito refuses to just let things play out like that..he will not let Frau be hurt again.]
no subject
[Frau really isn't all that bothered by the fact that he's here. The only thing really going for him at home is Teito, and since he's been living off the belief that time is standing still at home it's been okay. Besides, there's more porn here.]
Don't try to dig too deeply. You'll get in trouble.
no subject
[Teito briefly considers helping. Maybe they just need more manpower..]
Why would it get me in trouble? If something is broken then they must want to fix it. Maybe we can help.
no subject
[While Frau doesn't know much about the two companies, he knows enough to want to keep Teito away from them. He turns and locks his eyes solidly on his apprentice. There is no room for misunderstanding here.]
Listen to me. You say away from the companies and debates about the core. Got it?
no subject
Why? Shouldn't we help if they need it? Wouldn't it be better then just sitting around and waiting for this place to decide if we should stay or leave?
no subject
[Frau can't help thinking of Kevin. The kid had been put through so much because of the companies.]
no subject
Where is this core?
no subject
[Frau is feeling decidedly uneasy now. The thought of Teito anywhere near one of the companies isn't one he likes to have.]

So what am I supposed to do here?
no subject
Live. Try not to get yourself into too much trouble.
no subject
Right..And just what kind of trouble is here?
no subject
[He'd almost forgot about that, though he's hoping that by this point Teito is strong enough to handle that on his own as long as he doesn't get in too deep.]
