Summary: Checklist: Give Eponine a hard time, Make Warsman a man, and get Garry to cook dinner. Let's see what happens.
Warnings: Will update as necessary.
"Mnnghh.." Hattie awoke, bleary eyed, at 7:05 am. She didn't even party that hard the evening before. Perhaps her body was just tired because it was almost time to head down to the gym and the weather was getting colder.
Needless to say, she wasn't very fond of the cold. After washing up, she headed downstairs to look at her notes she placed upon the fridge with a magnet. It looks like it's going to be another busy day..

"Coffee would be delightful. Do you have cream?" He asks, following after her briskly.
no subject
"Of course I do!" Hattie replies, leading him into the kitchen which is a lot more rustic in comparison. Once she does, though, she pretends that she doesn't remember where it is.
"Now, let's see.. She keeps it in that cabinet.. Or.. Was it that one? Hmn.. It could be near the sink, perhaps.."
no subject
At least he know knows where the tupperware, spices, and canned soups go.
no subject
The cream isn't difficult to find, in fact it's right in the fridge. There are five different types to choose from and all of them seem to be on the pricey side. This could be a hint to Garry to why Hattie is stingy with pay. Also the coffee is found near the spices, and there's even more variety there.
"Ah, and here's the coffee machine!" Hattie declares, standing at the leftmost counter.
no subject
He'll have found the coffee (presuming that Hattie had hers all grounded up instead of buying bags of whole beans!) and the bag of coffee filters to fill with enough to keep him on a buzz for a while.
"... I'll suppose that you'll want me to prepare everything?"
no subject
Soy milk? Of course! It is unopened, and about a week from expiration date. The coffee is grounded, due to a terrible, terrible accident involving coffee beans eaten whole. To his last question, Hattie actually looks hesitant, as if trying to decide how to answer that.
Eventually she clasps her hands together and laughs it off, "Oh no, I couldn't ask you to do everything." followed by, "I can get the cups!" said in a somewhat childish 'I'm helping!' tone. "So the big December holiday is coming up, Garry, and I'm anticipating we're going to get pretty busy toward the end of the month; since you're working with me, I may not have to turn any down this year!"
Unfortunately that's a lie, last year Hattie overworked Ella like crazy; but since Garry doesn't have an obedience curse, she can't do the same to him.
no subject
"Oh, thank you." He smiled as she said she'd get the cups and occupied himself with filling up a double layer of filters with the coffee powder, slipping it inside machine before taking care of the water supply.
"It sounds exciting. I'll be sure to do my best." He smiled, inwardly a little uncertain that he'd be able to keep up for the holidays. Well, hopefully any small mess-up wouldn't cost him his job. Hopefully!
no subject
"And I'm certain you will, Garry. I'm quite excited, you're the first person outside of my family that I've employed for sewing. Though, I admit, I was under the impression you may not have that much planned this season either.." she coughs lightly, "Have you met other people to spend time with, if you don't mind me asking?"
Nosey nosey. o/~ "Oh! Come to think of it, seeing as we're here, we should have a home cooked meal rather than ordering out. What are you in the mood for tonight?"
no subject
When Hattie asks if he has other people to hang around with, the embarrassed man makes an uncertain little smile, scratching at a little spot on his cheek with a finger. "Not entirely, no."
The mention of a meal certainly appeals to him, and it's a more comfortable shift in subject. He's used to cooking for himself, so he suspects that Hattie would want him to prepare a meal for them both. Or whoever else stayed in the household. "It's been a while since I had Asian. Do you have any preferred recipes?"
no subject
"No one understands the logic behind it, nor how it approaches it's decision I'm afraid. But yes, I went home, and then it pulled me back, though I didn't remember a thing about the Port while I was home."
The blonde isn't surprised about his embarrassed response, and it draws a little smile to her lips, "Well, the parties that are held are usually for everyone. It'd be an excellent opportunity to mingle."
Conversation about food? It's one of her favorites! "Oh, I love asian food! Well, actually I love sushi, I've never really had much of any other kind. What do you think about sushi, is that easy to make? I can't really tell from the bars I've been to."
no subject
He's glad for the shift of the conversation to go to food. "Sushi is one of my favorite! It's a bit tricky, but I know how to make a few rolls." And with that, Garry starts looking for a bamboo rolling mat for the rice.
"Do you have any particular favorites?"
no subject
Then, Hattie's eyes light up. The very moment Garry declared sushi his favorite and he could prepare it, he became her favorite person in the world. "Oh that's wonderful! Please, you simply must show me how you do it! I've tried but, well.."
Let's just say it didn't work out well. That said, her curiosity is piqued and she actually wants to know a little more about her employee. Knowing what he's looking for, she moves and supplies him with a rolling mat which is protected in plastic film. She also points out to where her rice barrel and specialty knives. It's clear she's invested a lot into it... And ended up only using them all once.
"Shrimp! Though those are in the freezer. And I have vegetables in the fridge." ... "So why did you learn to cook? I don't know many men that do; that aren't servents, I mean."
no subject
At Hattie's enthusiasm for sushi, Garry can't help but laugh a little. "Certainly! Are the shrimp already cooked or raw?"
While she gets to setting the intruments on the counter, Garry takes the time to wash his hands with soap, rolling up the sleeves of his dress shirt to his elbows.
"I live-- well, I lived alone before too, so I decided to build up my cooking skills to avoid adding the inches to my waistline from too many nights of fast food. I actually like baking most of all, especially with confections." Macarons!
no subject
"Oh the shrimp is.. Frozen. I try not to eat too much fast food myself, but.. Well, you know how it is," Hattie confesses with a bit of embarrassment, then she actually makes the effort to go to the deep freezer and draw the bag from it. She gasps at how cold it is, quickly bringing it to the countertop. Garry just becomes more and more intruiging! "Now that's interesting; you're handsome, into fashion, and you can cook and bake? You must have the luckiest girlfriend in the world~."
no subject
"G-girlfriend? Um, no, no I don't--" Clearing his throat, he tried to distract himself by opening the back of shrimp and grab a mesh colander to dump a few handfuls of the crustaceans into in order to run them under the hot faucet water.
no subject
Smirk.
Well, he should be fun to have around; Hattie couldn't have asked for a better employee! If she could get him to cook more often then things would work perfectly. She'll just need to come up with a carrot to entice him.
"You're kidding, Garry!" exaggerating her surprise, "Well, chances are that won't last for long once more people get to know you. If you don't mind me asking.. What are you looking for in your ideal woman?"
She then assures, "Don't worry, I don't plan to set up a blind date, I just like to know these kinds of things for.. Inspiration."

Once the the ice frosting the shrimp begins melting, Garry starts to select some individuals to peel the shell, tails, and legs off of them, setting the remains in the sink to wash down the garbage disposal.
"Wh-what?" He starts when Hattie pops that shocking question. Pausing mid-peel, Garry sort of gapes at Hattie in a stunned manner before a faint blush coats his cheeks and he looks back to the sink with a soft, throat-clearing cough. "I like a partner who is kind, intelligent, shares the same interests that I do.." He didn't exactly say woman, :>
G'ah! Sorry, it's that brain addling season!
"Though a hint of elegance doesn't hurt, of course.. And maybe not too daring, depending on the situation. Now, I don't always get customers like that, but they tend to want something 'unique'. So that makes me happy enough, I suppose. Oh, actually that reminds me.."
Hattie leaves the kitchen for a moment, then retuns with a sheet of paper. "I put up a few of your designs on my website and I have two customers interested in suits for a business party, though they're undecided on what they want exactly. I told them to come by on Monday. How do you feel about making recommendations to people? Are you comfortable with that?"
(OOC: Btw, if at any point you'd like to handwave, feel free to let me know!)
