I've got my roots and you've got ties
Who: Alan Humphries & Eric Slingby & You [That is to say this is OTA]
Where: One of the local restaurants
When: Nov. 11th - Evening, pre-sirens
Summary: Eric finally takes Alan out on a date or something like it but with these two nothing ever really goes quite as planned.
Warnings: Odds are this is going to end up a mess of crazy shenanigans and embarrassment - I'll add in warnings as they come.
One would think that when making a date both parties would arrive on time or as close to the agreed time as possible. Indeed one would think but if you were Alan Humphries you would be wrong and glaring at the chair across from you - the emptiness of it mocking and somehow strangely; insanely personally offensive. He didn't even want to bother with trying to figure out that whole mess and what it might mean.
Instead, he glanced at his watch and ticked off another couple of minutes of waiting. In the back of his mind he was wondering why Eric was late. Odds are Eric went to the wrong restaurant or he got distracted and sidetracked. Sometimes he was pretty sure if it wasn't for him the other wouldn't be on time for anything.

[He kisses Alan on the top of his head, and then sits down across from him. He picks up a menu as he drops himself gracelessly into the chair.]
What do you want to eat?
no subject
He blushes a bit peering down at the menu on the table, a shy little smile tugging at his lips. He flipped the menu open and was reading it over having not even looked at it since it was put on the table before him. "I haven't really thought too much about it. Did you have something in mind?"
no subject
You know me. I'll eat just about anything.
[He scanned the menu.]
Order what you like. Don't worry about the check.
no subject
Oh he knows alright and it makes him chuckle softly. The first time he'd ever gone to Eric's he'd taken one look at the kitchen, shrugged back into his coat and left to get what he deemed as real food. Alan shook his head and put the menu aside.
"I think that chicken pasta thing sounds divine. That along with a salad and I'm set." Leaning forward he tapped at Eric's menu with a finger, a brow arching. "Are you trying to spoil me? Because if you are this is the right way to go about it."
no subject
Of course I am. Aren't I always? Are you sure that's all you want?
no subject
"I'm sure." He makes a soft humming sound and nods. "We can discuss desserts if you want."
no subject
He looks thoughtful for a moment, then smiles a softer, warmer smiles. "And you'll always be spoiled rotten if I get any say in it."
no subject
That smile tugs right as his heartstrings and he smiles back, if it wasn't painfully obvious before he was smitten it would certainly be now. "I don't need to be spoiled. I ready have more than I've ever expected."
no subject
"Well, I've made my choice. Maybe you should..."
no subject
Alan tries to effect a scolding tone but it falls a bit short and into more than a bit playful. "I'm not already? Just what plans do you have for me?" Because it there was more coming he wasn't sure he could handle it. He's got his rag-tag family, a cat, a real home that isn't just him in a flat by himself and Eric - life is good.
"I'm ready when you are."

[He leans over and waves for a waiter to get their order and...
He sees Ronald and William.]
Is that who I think it is, Alan?
no subject
"Eh?" Alan tilts his head then turns to glance over his shoulder. It doesn't take even a second before he knows exactly who it is. "The boss and the rookie getting tanked? Absolutely."
no subject
It is indeed. Should we go over?
no subject
"Anyway I don't see why not. We might as well go over and invite them back to the table." There can't be any harm in that besides how often did they all get together outside the office?

"You're going to ruin me. If you haven't already." Alan reached and tugged gently at his tie, leaning down towards him his voice quite. "Not that I would have it any other way." He presses a kiss just under his ear.
"Now then let's go be social shall we?"
no subject
Of course, whatever you want.
