And I am done with my graceless heart.
Who: KLAINE.
When: TODAY.
Where: THEIR APARTMENT.
Summary: STUFF. IT'S A SURPRISE.
Warnings: A lack of angst oh my god it's what the Mayans were talking about
Slowly but surely Kurt finds himself getting better. Every day is like something is building and growing inside of him, repairing deep wounds little by little. The scars all over his arms are still there--but the sickness of his mind and heart, that's healing.
He'd never thought that quitting a job would ever make him feel better about himself, but it is. So is the therapy, honestly. He's remaking himself from the ground up, and he feels resilient-- Like nothing can break him down again, even the knowledge of what Blaine had done back home. It just doesn't matter, not when placed side-to-side with what they've been through here.
Maybe this is what being an adult really is, he wonders as he slips a loaf of freshly made cinnamon bread into the oven to bake. Maybe it's not so bad. Maybe it's better.

They were damaged but at least they were still together. At least they were slowly repairing themselves and each other. He wasn't sure what they were back home and the thought of going back, of losing Kurt, haunted him every day when he woke up. What if today was the day they went back home again? What if they forgot everything? What if he was alone?
Blaine had made up his mind that he was going to do everything he could to make sure that their time here was the best it could be. The best that he could make it. They might be in a world filled with monsters, but at least they still had each other.
He had promised that he would make it up every day by treating Kurt the way that he deserved to be treated, to treasure him. He came into the room where Kurt was and grinned at him. "Hey, can I use your ears?" he asked. "I'm working on something and I want to know what you think."
FLIP-FLOPPING TENSES HERE why not
He set the timer for the bread then followed Blaine into their room. Blaine's space was occupied as usual by his piano and stacks of sheet music, and Kurt never bothered cleaning it up anymore. Now he just found it charming.

He offered Kurt a half smile, showing that he meant for it to be a little bit of a joke. "You'll have to let me know if I'm communicating what I need to, okay?"

He sat on the edge of the bed, hands folded in his lap as he listened raptly.

"Forever can never be long enough for me To feel like I've had long enough with you Forget the world now, we won't let them see But there's one thing left to do
Now that the weight has lifted Love has surely shifted my way..."
It's when he got to the chorus that he looked up, staring directly at Kurt. This isn't just singing at him, but to him. The thing he needed to say is the most important thing that he could think of, something he wanted to ask.
"Marry me..."
[Music Video of the song he's singing, Train's Marry Me.]

"Blaine?" he said softly, stalling, undecided, unwilling to let himself hope.

"If you say yes, of course. If you want to be my husband."

"You--" It was all he could manage for the moment. He slipped off the bed and onto the floor with Blaine, hugging him so tightly he knocked them both over onto the floor.

"Oh good."

"I thought," he whimpered softly. "That you'd never--"
He pulled away abruptly, holding onto Blaine's shoulders, his eyes wide. "Oh god, are you sure about this? I know before you wanted to wait, and then I rushed things, and I might have pressured you, and I never want to pressure you into anything, and you can't just do this for me, you know, you have to do it for you, and--"

"Gimme," he said playfully, his eyes twinkling with happiness.

"There's so beautiful," he cooed, turning them so they'd catch the light.

Kurt's hand threaded through the hair at the back of Blaine's neck as he tugged his fiancé forward, needing him closer. He kept their mouths together, moving his lips softly yet insistently.
