[A Girl's Best Friend]
WHO: Mary Winchester and Lucifer
WHEN: January 26
SUMMARY: Lucifer goes ring shopping. It's best not to question his motives.
WARNINGS: None, will adjust as needed.
Saint Valentine's Day wasn't for another two weeks, but sales were already springing up with red and pink hearts and discounted diamonds. Lucifer had only one store in mind for all his needs. He sauntered into the shop shortly before closing, and took his time examining a case full of engagement rings and loose stones.
He clucked his tongue thoughtfully, and tapped his finger over one of them. "I think the princess cut is overrated in this day and age. And yet, there's something so timeless about a diamond solitaire, don't you think, Mary?"

Mary bent down to unlock the display and pull out the ring in question, leaning it across the counter to show him with a raised eyebrow. Her life, man. Sometimes he reminded her of a walking Monty Python sketch, stuck in the first and third acts. His question, then, was normal enough to get another bemused look. "The owner put out a help wanted on the Network, and I needed a job."

He set the ring down, rubbed his chin as he looked in the display. "Which one is your favorite?"

She shook herself out of her own thoughts and considered the diamonds. Being married, being temporarily separated as she and John were, Mary never let herself look at the engagement rings long or hard enough to start thinking, so she passed those over in her selection. Instead, she made a beeline for something unusual and laughed. "I've always loved this. Just look at that. You could really hurt someone with that."

"You may be the only person in this store to say that so cheerfully. Kudos." He examined them a second longer. "But this doesn't say quite what I'm looking for. The last thing I need is to encourage more violence, don't you think?"

Still, Mary gave them an amused glance as he fiddled with them. "I just can't believe there's a market for this."

Hunting, or living with John again. Either or.

The lock on the display snapped shut with a click. "So, what can I do for you?"

In all seriousness I'm looking for new things to show someone. I thought you, with all your experience and intuition dealing with hardheaded men, might want to help.
