December Arrivals- OPEN LOG

Who: December Arrivals, Greeters, NPC recruiters & anyone else who happens to be hanging around the Tower Apartments to 'welcome' newcomers.
When: Throughout December, 2012 (Please Specify Date & Time in Thread Header)
Where: The Sector 4 Baseball Diamond, Parking Lot & Lobby of the Tower Apartments
Summary: This is your catch-all one stop log for arrival interactions! New Newcomers can also meet and mingle in the apartment lobby.
Warnings: Nausea, potential for violence, language- add on any warnings or ratings as they come up.

It feels like a whiplash, like being plucked up into the sky and sucked through a very tight dark space before being deposited rather roughly in the City. You will be disoriented, dizzy, slightly nauseous, and very sore upon arriving in Siren's Port. Every new arrival from another world gets deposited in the dead center of an ill-kept baseball diamond.

The weather is chilly in December, and while new arrivals may be lucky enough to arrive during the safety of the day, the danger of nights are growing steadily longer. Pedestrian traffic is hurried and bustling, particularly in the hour before siren.

Newcomers are thrown from their pull somewhere within the fenced-in baseball field, either in the dirty infield or tossed rolling into the overgrown dirty outfield. Standing on second base and facing home plate, one will see a rotten, old and deteriorating backstop and chain link fencing, much like any little league baseball field. Broken down bleachers made of worn out green painted wood can be seen in disarray behind this, and some old trees line the wall and fencing along the right side.

To the left is a walled in Dugout with a secured door. The dugouts are made of thick concrete and set low into the earth. This one has been outfitted as a safe place to enter during the night to hide and wait out the morning. The dugout interior is lit with a string of Christmas Lights by night, and contains a box of coats, an electric kettle and a box of Hot Cocoa packets, provided courtesy of the Newcomer Community Center. Sometimes Greeters can be found here, waiting for people to show up. The Dugout to the right has also been cemented over and secured with a heavily guarded and armored door.

Some of the fences and signboards have been replaced with information and welcoming signs, posted by Newcomers as encouragement, but from time to time some form of degrading graffiti'd tag might appear here or there, 'Go Home!' or 'Now You're Fucked, Newmeat' 'Welcome to Sirens Port, Population: Too Many to Add One More' and 'Attention Newcomers: Please wait here till sunset sirens to receive your welcoming package!') However, someone has also recently decorated the fence with silver and gold garlands.

The Baseball Diamond is maintained by the city Government, who allow greeters access to the infield to retrieve new arrivals, but preserve the area's neutrality. Everyday citizens and corporate affiliates are not allowed access to the diamond. The small building constructed over the right dugout is still guarded heavily by government-controlled Voids, to block public access to the Core. Those who cooperate with greeters will be treated fairly and be given helpful information, lead to the Tower Apartments and offered a month's lodging. Those who put up a fight will be met with Voids and detained by police.

Just beyond the fence, in the Tower Apartments parking lot and lobby, SERO and AGI recruiters will be passing out informational leaflets presenting company propaganda, including discounted coupon booklets and travel-sized toiletries as a "Newcomer Welcome Package".

Other then the lights around the Core dugout, there is one single electric light above home plate that remains on, even in the Darkness. There is an open walkway near the dugouts that leads into the parking lot of the Tower Apartments. The front doors of Tower One are always kept unlocked, but you had best close them again quickly if you slip inside during the night. The office of the Landlord is well marked near the lobby, and you'll receive keys there.

The second tower is abandoned and boarded up, still scorched in places. Asking around, you might hear about the anti-newcomer movement and an attempt to blow up both towers back in January. You'll be advised not to go wandering in there- it's no doubt structurally unsound, though the first tower still stands tall and (mostly) functioning.

The general atmosphere in the city is tense and full of mood whiplash this month- the darkness is longer and the nights may seem claustrophobic. The Underground Mall is a packed escapist paradise on the weekends, with overnight stays at the many motels popular. Conspiracy theorists and doomsday preachers seem to be found on every streetcorner, and they seem to have more of a presence than charity-collection "Santa's Helpers". Retail stores seem doubly desperate to rake in holiday profits during daylight business hours, and competition between the companies is mounting as the year comes to a raucous close.

gonna touch the core!

"I think I can try. This isn't really... I'll do whatever I can, to make sure he's stable, so we can get him to a hospital," Tenma nodded seriously, listening to him breathe. He was resting well enough, but he was worried that with this thing sticking out of his chest, he wasn't getting enough oxygen.

He really needed to check this thing out. He needed to see what was going on, before he could even think about moving him. Tenma slowly moved aside some of his clothes, reaching out to carefully touch the core.

"Be careful.." Teito knew that touching that thing was probably a bad idea, but what else could they do? "That thing is pretty important. I don't know that he'll want you touching it." Plus Teito wasn't sure if it would hurt Tenma for doing so..or if Frau might hurt Tenma if he touched it. Teito kept a calm hold on Frau though, tensing slightly as he became ready for anything.

As prepared as Teito was, he could never have been ready enough. The second Tenma's hand brushed the core Frau shot up, fingers locked around Tenma's wrist. He glared dangerously at the man and zaiphon flickered around him in warning.

At the moment Frau didn't seem the least bit exhausted or hurt. Unfortunately, the only thing that was driving him was fear. If the core was destroyed or moved from him it would all be over. Both for him and likely Teito and the others as well.

Holy... Tenma actually jumped. Or at least jerked hard at that, because while he wasn't doing anything to it, not really, he had been prepared to help this guy come back from the dead. And now he wasn't even close to there.

"...Sir? Are you, ah... are you okay?" He gently tries to extricate his hand from Frau's grasp. He wouldn't touch that thing again.

"Frau!" Teito tried to pull the ghost back before he hurt Tenma. He really didn't need anyone getting killed because they tried to help. "It's okay, Frau! He wasn't going to hurt you."

Teito looked at Frau in desperation and he tries his best to help free Tenma's hand.

The moment Teito spoke Frau's gaze snapped from Tenma to his apprentice. The anger and warning faded, replaced by relief mixed with disbelief. Teito had been taken, how could he...? Only it didn't matter. Not really. All that mattered was that Teito was here with him.

Frau's grip on Tenma's wrist slackened a moment before his eyes closed and he collapsed again.

"Okay, he seems to be out again," Tenma said after a moment. "We're going to move him somewhere safe. We're not going to touch the thing in his chest, we're just going to get him on a stretcher, so we can transport him to the clinic. He might need to go to a hospital, but I want to see if he'll wake up again and be able to talk to us."

He looked to Teito. "Okay?"
mikhail_in_me: (Surprise blush)

Teito looked rather panicked by all of this. He stared down at Frau who was once again unconscious in his lap. What was he going to do?? He heard Tenma's voice and slowly looked up at him, but it couldn't be clear if he actually heard anything that had been said.

Frau didn't hear anything that was being said. He'd been sucked back down into the heavy darkness he'd been left in after Ayanami's attack. The energy to pull himself out of it was virtually nonexistent. He was just too tired.

"Teito," Tenma said again, reaching out and putting a hand on his shoulder. "Teito, I need you to focus. We're going to move him. I need you to help me move him. I can't hold the stretcher up by myself, you need to help me. I need you to focus right now. Okay?"

He looked at him seriously, with a sense of urgency, both in his voice and on his face. They needed to do this now. He let go of his shoulder, standing up and running over to the dugout to get the stretcher.
mikhail_in_me: (So much angst)

[personal profile] mikhail_in_me 2012-12-23 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Teito watched as Tenma ran off to get the stretcher then looked down at Frau again. He lowered his head until his forehead was touching Frau's. "Don't you leave me, you damned bishop.." He tried to control his emotions as he slowly lifted his head back up. He needed to focus..he had to be strong and help Tenma carry him.

Very carefully, Teito moved so that he would be ready when Tenma got back.

Coming back with the stretcher, he laid it down on the ground next to Frau.

"Come and get his legs. On three, we lift him on. I'll strap him down, and then we can go. He's going to be heavy, but the clinic isn't that far, it's just down the street. On my count, okay?" He moved into position, holding him up carefully by the arms.

"One, two, three, lift!"
