Summary: XEMC/AGI Valentine's Day couples' party, fun, dance, etc. for your enjoyment! Dine, romance, and dance the night away. Be warned though, not everything is as it seems. <3

There's a ladylove or beau in your life you are aiming to please; You seek to prove your love, obtain their affections, or have them swooning off their feet by the end of the night. Or perhaps your intentions are less than pure…Either way, you know this, of course, because you've chosen to bring them here. The Grey Line is an elegant restaurant whose very atmosphere is a recipe for romance, and tonight, everything your special someone needs to have an evening solely dedicated to passionate desire between the two of you will be provided for, to enjoy at your leisure.

Tonight is going to be perfect. Tonight is special.

Let the siren's song of love overwhelm you as you enter; open the doors, and walk inside.

The staff will greet you as an old friend, and take your coats, their friendly smiles a gentle contrast to the elegant decor around them. There's a feeling of euphoria which flows gently through the air, basking all those who attend.

And why shouldn't there be? The very design of the Grey Line is a masterful one, the modernity and sleekness lending to its natural beauty, played up by the fact that the structure of the restaurant itself is set into a shallow bay, with wall to wall glass windows in the main dining room which allow for the majesty of the ocean to be seen with the coming of the tides. By night, underwater lighting installed in the rocks outside attract a strange array of monstrous sea creatures.

You'll be lead back into the grand ballroom and placed at a table of your choice, a live company of instrumentals set back on a higher tier in front which overlooks the dining area.

The colors from the City bleed from the sea with the tide sweeping up the sides of the glass, bleaching it a deep aqua color.

Quiet awe overwhelms you as the soft illumination descends and caresses the faces everyone inside, giving them a soft, gentle look that adds to the undercurrent of tranquil calm.

Now, you're ready. Seated, you can observe who else is here with you, or bask in the ambience of your surroundings. Baskets of wine and chocolates are set at each table, along with a centerpiece of roses.

"Anything that you desire on the menu, sir, madam? Please, order anything you like. Compliments of your host."

It's Valentine's Day, and we're here with the same man. I think we're allowed to get a little personal.

[A slight flush creeps up into his cheeks; he looks away to hide it.]

I fail to see what any of that has to do with anything, but if you're so insistent, you go first. What do you think of yourself?

[That's not how these things usually work, but he'll give him a pass. After all, Edgeworth seems to be fairly new to socializing, and even newer to 'dating'. Especially the unofficial kind, like this little shindig.]

All right. I think I'm the only one of my kind who can see things clearly. I think that the only reason I'm still alive is to make this little world a better place.

I also think I'm a terrible fiddle player, but I'm decent at poker, and you will not find a better chess player in this world or the next.

[And Edgeworth crosses his arms, frowning as his embarrassment only deepens. But this man responded freely, and as such it's his duty to do the same, even if he looks away as he does so.]

...I am a good attorney, because I put sufficient diligence into my cases. And that truly is the heart of the law. A mind can be trained to be sufficiently logical, and oration can be studied and learned; all that truly matters is how hard one works.

[thelightbringer]

[Lucifer listens, as if there are no possible distractions in the room.]

Does that mean you don't believe in natural talent?

[ergomaniac]

That should be like refusing to believe in gravity. No two brains are completely alike; no two people are completely alike, and one person will always have more aptitude towards something than another person will.

But talent is given far too much weight and importance. A lazy born athlete will always lose to the man who trains every day. You can be born brilliant, but you will accomplish nothing if you simply watch television. Talent affords advantages; it's worthless without hard work. But hard work without talent is still worthwhile.

[thelightbringer]

[Lucifer smiles quietly and nods.]

Good points. And I've always been of the opinion that the one who works harder at it will come out on top eventually, talent or no.

[He snags two flutes of champagne as a waiter passes.]

It's a party, you shouldn't be empty-handed.

[Edgeworth hesitates, but accepts. There's a strange sort of wryness to his manner as he confesses:]

I never drank before I came to know Sam.

[He does sip.]

Did you truly mean what you said about seeking to improve the world?

[thelightbringer]

Neither did I.

[Lucifer grins and, again, checks to see where Sam is. Protective? Or maybe just possessive.]

Yes, I did. You have a similar goal, don't you?

[ergomaniac]

[He has grace enough to look embarrassed, but he nods.]

I do. Though I will do so only through the law and legal means.

[thelightbringer]

What makes you take a case, then? Or do you get to choose?

[ergomaniac]

That's a rather...complex question. I have the right of refusal of any case - particularly now that I'm a defense attorney, though as a prosecutor I could in extraordinary circumstances recuse myself from a case. But -

[Another, deeper sip.]

Well. I am of the school of thought that...everyone deserves representation. Consequently, so long as I am able, I will take a case.

[thelightbringer]

That's very honorable of you. Especially where you've had real cases; it's an easy thing to believe that when you're in law school, but once you start meeting people....

[He sips his champagne finally.

And makes a face. Ugh.]

What say we go find some brandy?

[ergomaniac]

[He pulls a slight face. The last time he drank hard liquor, then...Well. Certain...things occurred between Sam and himself, but...He can see no harm in this, he supposes. And champagne really is rather unappetizing.]

In some small amount. I've no desire to abandon my wits this evening.

[thelightbringer]

I can't get drunk off of anything here, so you're safe. As long as you think I'll stop you from doing anything wild.

[He leads the way through the crowd.]

[ergomaniac]

You can't become intoxicated? [The correction of the phrase into the higher register is unconscious, at least.] Then why drink?

[thelightbringer]

I can. It just takes more than this. But if you'll look around, [nodding at the other party goers] everyone is drinking. It's safer not to stand out.

Hasn't Sam picked a drink for you before?

[ergomaniac]

[Edgeworth clears his throat.]

In what sense do you mean, "picked a drink"? You mean has he offered me advice?

[thelightbringer]

No. It's a little trick he does; he can pick out what drink you'll enjoy most. It's why I'm taking brandy.

[ergomaniac]

[He clears his throat and shakes his head.]

Not...per se. The last time I went to his bar, I wasn't drinking at all.

[He wonders if he should perhaps be envious.]

[thelightbringer]

You go to bars not to drink?

[He gives him a judgmental look, then winks.]

Anyway, it was an ice breaker. The first time we had really 'hung out' together. You should ask him about it. [If Edgeworth doesn't, Lucifer will.]

[ergomaniac]

Indeed. At times, such places serve as neutral meeting grounds. But forgive me - what happened, that your first meeting was...noteworthy?

[thelightbringer]

It wasn't our first meeting. Just the first time we'd traded, ah, parlor tricks. I showed him mine, and then he picked my drink.

[ergomaniac]

Oh. So you were not saying to ask about the meeting - about the drink, rather... [A pause.] But forgive me - "parlor tricks"?

[thelightbringer]

What, you don't show off your talents when you want to flirt?

[...No. No, Edgeworth probably doesn't, actually.]
