Who: Dave Strider and John Egbert
When: Around 6 am on the 4th
Where: The baseball diamond
Summary: Just the best of friends beating each other up after coming back from the dead plus a canon update for John.
Warnings: Swearing, violence, mentions of death and gore from getting eaten

[It took a moment to remember, but John knew this place. He remembered this feeling, remembered being here before. Siren's Port. It was really weird having memories of the ship, memories of here, then another year's worth of memories on the ship again, but he was glad he recalled his time here. He'd been able to see friends he still hadn't met back home... and speaking of one of those friends, hey, there was Dave right there next to him.

... Wait a minute. Dave had died, he'd seen Dave get eaten. Suddenly worried, John shook his best friend a little frantically.]

Dave!!! Dave, are you okay?!

[He gives him a hard shove backwards.] Oh, so you'd run if it was me getting eaten and I threw myself at some monster so you could get away?!

Let me point this out so your mind can actually process it. I was already fucking dead. Dead. Finto. Kaput.

Passed. [Dave snapped as he felt the ground dig into his back. It's going to be vicious in a second. And by vicious, his knee is snapping up to say howdy fella to John's stomach.] on.

[John's eyes go wide as he lets out an 'oof!', flopping onto his side and holding onto his stomach. He wheezes for a bit, trying to get his breath back.]

You... dick... ! [Throwing a punch in retaliation.]

[Dave waits on the dirt, knowing John is going to come after him. He's not disappointed and lashes out with a drop kick.]

[Yep, he's not getting back up to his feet. Damnit, Dave, why do you have to be better at hand to hand fighting. That just makes John more mad though and he tries to tackle him now.]

I am going to kick your ass for that!!!

[He could vanish or attack to meet him halfway, but Dave lets the tackle happen. He's mad John died too and mad at himself for letting it happen. So naturally when his best friend is just as angry a fight breaks out. He tries to grab hold of him to roll them over.]

[He's too intent on attempting to punch Dave in the face to fight from getting rolled over.] I can't believe I actually missed a jerk like you!!!

[Dave gets whacked but what does he do. Drop all his weight down on John like a big ass anvil.] Shut up. Just shut the hell up.

We died ok. It happened. Let's not do that again.

[John fights back for a bit, but deflates when Dave's done talking, grumbling in return.] If we do, I hope it doesn't suck as much as that did. [Because that had to have hurt.]

...yeah that just sucked and I've died a lot of ways. [He's not bothering to get up. Just going to pin you down until you calm down.]

[John is starting to feel a liiiittle awkward.] ... Well. At least we're back now. [He cringes slightly.] So how mad do you think everyone else is going to be?

[Dave rolled off of him and sat with his shades covering his eyes as he scanned the network. The he opened a window and checked in with sollux.] Don't tell Karkat, he's on my ass like I'm hobby horse and slobbering on my bro as it is. Dirk will be pissed. Jade's just going to be happy to have us back. I warned her before,

[He goes quiet and scrubs his face.] Didn't warn her before. Thought it was only fair to tell her this time. Dirk too. She'll have kept him out of trouble. Sollux is apathetic which I figured. Now here's the important part, looks like whatever took Castiel is still out there. You're coming home with me to the boarding house tonight. Then you stay with Jade and I'll see about locating my Bro after I explain to the boss what's up.

[Sits up and brushes himself off a little, listening quietly.] Whoa, stay, what? Where are you going? Boss who?

Stay with Jade in the morning. And dude, I've said it before I got work. I have to explain at least where I was. [Dave climbs to his feet and stretches. Another check of the network makes him shake his head.]

Oh. [He visibly relaxes.] Okay. I thought you might go running off and do something stupid again.

Will you relax? It's like you're chock full of hot air or angry tornadoes. The thing about what we were up against is it was too much for us.

We were dead the moment he found us. [And it rattled him. He gets to his feet slowly, dusting himself off as he goes. Time to go home and shower until he can't feel that fucking weird black shit all over him. Even though it isn't.]

Let's go. Got a hot date with an order of take out and the shower.

[Huffs a little in annoyance, getting to his feet after Dave.] I just don't want my best friend to get hurt again, sue me.

[He stops, one eye trained on John from the corner of his shades.] I used to tell you Bro kicked my ass on a daily basis. I'm fine with a little pain. Part of life.

[He sounds the same as always, unconcerned with it. His life had been shaped by pain and it was going to kick him around more before he gave his last. Dave frowned at the cold and hugged himself with a colorful curse.] But this cold as balls freezing shit? That's going to kill me.

Reason number who cares why Canada sucks.

Do you want my jacket? I grew up in Washington, I'm used to this kind of weather.

Nah. I'm fine. I got one in my sylladex. Come on, let's go. [He does just as he says he would, equipping his coat which is a long dark trench coat that falls just past his thighs, ending right at the back of his knees. Coupled with his dark suit he looks like some hard boiled detective and he walks away, trudging on with heavy boots. It had taken a pay check or two to get enough for it but had been well worth it.]

Yes sir, Detective Strider. [Teases as he follows.]

And don’t forget it. [He tosses over his shoulder as he shoves his hands into his pockets and starts away from the baseball diamond. He feels a little nasty still, unable to help thinking about dying. Ugh. He needed a shower bad.]
