Who: Frau and Lab
When: January 4th, evening
Where: The prison
Summary: The first darkness has sprung up and Frau is still in jail. Lab comes to inform him that it's time to break out now.
Warnings: It's Frau. Nothing major, but probably some swearing and irritation.

Frau had felt the sudden rocking of the ground beneath his feet earlier. At about the same time an unsettled feeling came over him. No matter what he did, he couldn't shake it despite the fact that he couldn't find a reason for it. Nothing seemed to be much changed in the prison besides the increased murmur of voices trying to figure out what had happened.

It wasn't until hours later, after the sun had set, that Frau felt the change. Something familiar was creeping over the land once more, though it hadn't been seen since he'd been brought here. Darkness. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he moved to the bars of his cell, watching and waiting. If it was darkness, it would soon leak in. Frau could manage that, but if the creatures came in as well he would have trouble dealing with them in the confined cell. Escape might become necessary.

If that isn't the creepiest present Frau has ever gotten he doesn't know what is. Really. He honestly has no idea what to do with it, and no idea what Lab could possibly be thinking. Since it is Lab, however, he doesn't waste more than a second to put the thing on. He's had enough experience with Labrador going way over the top with things.

Just do as instructed Frau, at least he's not using any bombs?

A short while later, everyone else around Frau falls asleep then Labrador appears in front of Frau's cell. "Good evening, Frau."

Frau tugged the mask off, really hoping that he waited long enough. At this point though he doesn't really care one way or the other.

"What's good about it?"

Because, while he didn't mind being in jail, he hadn't exactly planned on getting out this way. He hadn't really planned on needing to escape because of the sudden return of the darkness either.

Really, Frau, you should have waited till Lab said it was alright. Luckily, there was only a trace of the sleeping fragrance left and the most it would do is make Frau is little drowsy.

"That is what people say in greeting, Frau. There's no need to be impolite. It's your own fault after all that you were arrested. Now be patient. I have to figure out which key opens this door."

And with that he held out the ring of keys and tried them out one by one...

Frau just... wasn't in the mood. At all. Either for dealing with Labrador, having patience, or being accused of being violent or dumb. Or both, because it easily could have been both. He let Lab get through about two keys before he was done with the whole thing.

The scythe was out in a second and a moment later Frau swung it toward the cell door, careful to keep it well away from Lab. A second swing was all it took to have part of the door wall outward, leaving Frau a hole big enough to walk through.

"I let myself get arrested. There's no fault!"

It is always both, Frau. You are dumb and violent.

Labrador looked up in surprise when he sensed the scythe then he quickly leapt out of the the way.

"Frau!! Look what you've done now! Let yourself? Why would you do something like that?"

"I got myself out!"

And he just happily walked out of the cell as he returned the scythe to his arm. Really, he didn't see this as a big deal of this was. The entire point of Lab showing up was getting Frau out anyway.

"Because what the heck else was I going to do? They already had me, I was too dizzy to fight back, and I had nowhere else to go."

He shrugged again.

"They treated me well enough here."

Labrador sighed ~~and resists the urge to slow clap.~~ "Then why did you need me to come in the first place then?"

Destruction of public property is a crime, Frau.

"Well, I'm glad you were treated well then. Now we have bigger problems to worry about outside."

"When the hell did I ask? I've been in here the whole time!"

And he would have continued to argue too, if he hadn't noticed something coming for them right then. Something dark and soulless. And with lots of friends a short distance behind.

"Lab."

The one word has a warning note to it that should get across most of the message.

"You might not have directly. But it was obvious you needed help or you would have got yourself out long ago. Were you just planning to languish in here while I had to deal with Lord Mikhail and-?"

He immediately steps out of the way and behind Frau. There you go. Have fun, Frau.

Frau noticed the move and...

"What the hell, Lab?!"

Of course he didn't have much time to complain about Labrador's sudden desire to let Frau handle things. The darkness creatures had spotted him and were flying toward him. As it was Frau barely had enough time to pull the scythe from his arm again and take a few steps forward to put some distance between himself and Labrador.

"You guys are a freaking pain."

Labrador remained where he was.

"I'm tired. I've been fighting them all evening already. Anyway, you are better at this."

"Yeah, great, thanks."

Not that he could argue about that either because it was true. Might as well get his enjoyment out of it. He bounded forward, a smile already splashing across his face as he did. There were five of them? Oh, okay. No big deal. It'll be fun. A good warm up.

As long as he could keep himself under control, which actually seemed possible today.

It only took Frau a few minutes to wipe the floor with the darkness creatures and turn back to Lab. He flashed his friend a quick smile and just waited for him to catch up.

Labrador meanwhile looked for a spot to sit down and waited, then he got up again when Frau was finished.

"Mnnn... you seem a little slower than usual, Frau." Then he hurried after him.

"I still hurt, what do you expect?"

Only he should have realized that Lab wouldn't know that. His injuries had come before Labrador's arrival. So had his recovery and treatment. The fact that he was still in a little bit of pain and hadn't fully recovered wasn't something he shared or let show.

Labrador frowned at that. "Still hurt? Still hurt from what, Frau? What did you get yourself into now...?"

"Nothing from here. I was dragged off here when I was hurt."

He keeps walking, heading out of the prison even as he speaks. The last thing he wants to do is look Labrador in the eye. Of course, considering Lab was from a time Frau didn't know about yet, it was fully possible he already knew that Frau had failed miserably. Either way, Frau didn't want to see the look on his face.

"Enough people here are healers, so they could get me back on my feet... but nobody really knows about the core."

Labrador follows after him and listens then he runs ahead of him to stop him and looks up at him sternly. "Let me see."

Frau just crossed his arms over his chest and stared at Lab. It wasn't that he was really against him seeing the damage done, but he wasn't sure he could mentally deal with talking about what had happened at the moment. Besides, there was another very valid reason to postpone this little party.

"This really isn't the place."

((Argh, stupid switching tenses... I never had that problem until recently.))

Labrador looked around a bit then back up at Frau.

"I suppose not. But I will have to see your wounds, Frau. If you are from the time you say, these wounds are way too serious for me to just ignore. And I'm sure there aren't really any people here who can fully heal them."

((I didn't notice anything...))

All of the hope that maybe he'd get away from this and not need to discuss what had happened wilted in Frau. The pain of it returned only added to the fact that Labrador knew his failure. Frau seemed to shrink in on himself a bit as they kept going.

"Yeah..."

Labrador followed after him. "Frau... Don't be so hard on yourself... All is not yet lost."

"Maybe not yet, but it's getting pretty close."

They didn't know how long anyone stayed here. There was a chance that when Frau finally did get sent home it wouldn't really be "him" that got there. At the moment though he just kept his eyes in front of him and continued walking.

"There are still things we can do, Frau." Labrador walked beside him silently. "But the thing we have to worry about at this moment is... what are we supposed to do now in this place..."

"Live. Stay away from the companies. Enjoy the abundant porn industry."

Frau flashes Labrador a smirk as he continues along. The what they do here is the easy part.

Labrador sighs and shakes his head a bit. "But Frau... there is one tiny problem.... don't you notice that most people are dead here apart from us?"

"There are more than we're used to, yeah, but not everyone is."

Okay, yeah, so most of Frau's friends here were dead, but that was just coincidence.

"A lot of the people here aren't human technically."

He felt like that was a more accurate statement.

"Well, yes, they aren't human anymore and we're kind of stuck in the past... so I don't think your idea of indulging in your hobbies here will work."

"What's that got to do with it?!"

How people who were dead and porn went together Frau didn't know. And even if they somehow did, Lab's assumption was wrong. This place was just overflowing with opportunities.

"How can you even be in the mood for something like that when we're trapped here among undead creatures, Frau! Shouldn't we be trying to find a way to at least get back to present time?"

"We're trapped among undead creatures back home too."

And it didn't bother him there. Besides, they're only trapped with the darkness creatures at night, and Frau usually spends his night out with them.

"Finding something won't do much good. Whenever this place wants to send us back, it will. I don't think we have much choice in the matter."

"Yes, but they aren't quite the same..."

Labrador was silent for a moment. "But when will they send us back?"

Frau shrugged, not bothered by the fact that he didn't know. He's been here long enough to realize he doesn't have a choice in the matter so there's no point in worrying about it all.

"Whenever it wants to. Both back to the normal time in this place and back to our own home."

"You've completely accepted this situation then, Frau?"

"So all we can do is wait then...?"

"What else can I do?"

And, really, it was a truthful question. There wasn't anything else Frau could do even if he didn't want to accept the situation.

He sighed a little.

"I... suppose you're right..."

"Course I'm right. I've been here long enough to know."

And he wasn't as stupid as people made him out to be. Of course he also knew that Lab and Castor knew that, it was just something nobody wanted to admit and they all questioned.

Labrador nodded at that. Well, people would take you more seriously if she behaved more maturely, Frau.

"Where are you going now then?"

"Uh..."

Frau really didn't have a plan on where he was going. He, honestly, rarely had a plan.

"I just figured we'd find other people. They should stand out."

Sticking together sounded like a good plan, right?

"Yes, we should go find them and see if they need help. Well, let's go then!"

And he'll start to walk off.
