February Arrivals Log
Who: February Arrivals, Greeters, NPC recruiters & anyone else who happens to be hanging around the Tower Apartments to 'welcome' newcomers.
When: Throughout February, 2012 (Please Specify Date & Time of Say in Thread Header)
Where: The Sector 4 Baseball Diamond, Parking Lot & Lobby of the Tower Apartments
Summary: This is your catch-all one stop log for arrival interactions! New Newcomers can also meet and mingle in the apartment lobby.
Warnings: Nausea, potential for violence, language- add on any warnings or ratings as they come up.
It feels like a whiplash, like being plucked up into the sky and sucked through a very tight dark space before being deposited rather roughly in the City. You will be disoriented, dizzy, slightly nauseous, and very sore upon arriving in Siren's Port. Every new arrival from another world gets deposited in the dead center of an ill-kept baseball diamond.
The weather is chilly, and while new arrivals may be lucky enough to arrive during the safety of the day, the danger of nights are far ore threatening. Pedestrian traffic is hurried and bustling, particularly in the hour before siren.
Newcomers are thrown from their pull somewhere within the fenced-in baseball field, which is overgrown and dirty. Standing on second base and facing home plate, one will see a rotten, old and deteriorating backstop and chain link fencing, much like any little league baseball field. Broken down bleachers made of worn out green painted wood can be seen in disarray behind this, and some old trees line the wall and fencing along the right side.
To the left is a walled in Dugout with a secured door. The dugouts are made of thick concrete and set low into the earth. This one has been outfitted as a safe place to enter during the night to hide and wait out the morning. The dugout interior is lit with a string of Christmas Lights by night, and contains a box of coats, an electric kettle and a box of Hot Cocoa packets, provided courtesy of the Newcomer Community Center. Sometimes Greeters can be found here, waiting for people to show up. The Dugout to the right has also been cemented over and secured with a heavily guarded and armored door.
Some of the fences and signboards have been replaced with information and welcoming signs, posted by Newcomers as encouragement, but from time to time some form of degrading graffiti'd tag might appear here or there, 'Go Home!' or 'Now You're Fucked, Newmeat' 'Welcome to Sirens Port, Population: Too Many to Add One More' and 'Attention Newcomers: Please wait here till sunset sirens to receive your welcoming package!') However, someone has also recently decorated the fence with red and pink paper hearts.
The Baseball Diamond is maintained by the city Government, who allow greeters access to the infield to retrieve new arrivals, but preserve the area's neutrality. Everyday citizens and corporate affiliates are not allowed access to the diamond. The small building constructed over the right dugout is still guarded heavily by government-controlled Voids, to block public access to the Core. Those who cooperate with greeters will be treated fairly and be given helpful information, lead to the Tower Apartments and offered a month's lodging. Those who put up a fight will be met with Voids and detained by police.
Just beyond the fence, in the Tower Apartments parking lot and lobby, SERO and AGI recruiters will be passing out informational leaflets presenting company propaganda, including discounted coupon booklets and travel-sized toiletries as a "Newcomer Welcome Package". AGI is using the excuse of Valentine's Day to heavily promote its Adult Entertainments.
Other then the lights around the Core dugout, there is one single electric light above home plate that remains on, even in the Darkness. There is an open walkway near the dugouts that leads into the parking lot of the Tower Apartments. The front doors of Tower One are always kept unlocked, but you had best close them again quickly if you slip inside during the night. The office of the Landlord is well marked near the lobby, and you'll receive keys there.
The second tower is abandoned and boarded up, still scorched in places. Asking around, you might hear about the anti-newcomer movement and an attempt to blow up both towers back in January. You'll be advised not to go wandering in there- it's no doubt structurally unsound, though the first tower still stands tall and (mostly) functioning.
There's one more troublesome thing of note... locals seem far more ready to accurate identify new arrivals this month, and 'greet' them rather cruelly in public places.
The reason for this is an anonymous live-steaing videofeed, 'NEWCOMER WATCH', which is trained on the diamond 24/7. Anonymous viewers are making an online event of new drop-ins, making crude commentary over the chatroom, posting their pictures and descriptions up over local NV networks and generally encouraging nasty behavior towards these individuals.
So prepare for some very mean and possibly violent treatment in the coming weeks.

Grell Sutcliff: Febuary 4th 3:47 AM
HEEYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The field is full of Grell's wild screams. Grell is on his back, his magnificent hair trailing in the dirt. The pain and nausea hit and bring him back to himself. As he scrambles to his feet his hands reach out to the red object in front of him.
"There you are. Will couldn't take you away from me my...
Huh...
Will? WILL? Where did you go? You're going to punish me, you bloody sadist!"
Yet, there's a fear that creeps up on him. Where is William? Where is HE? This place is bad, he knows that. He clutches his saw closer. Is this his punishment? Punishment usually involves paperwork. The thought of being abandoned completely...
He pushes it to the back of his mind.
A creature runs out of the darkness at Grell, who flies towards it and his chainsaw slashes it neatly in half.
"Will WILLIAM COME BACK!"
Re: Grell Sutcliff: Febuary 4th 3:47 AM
He hadn't even bothered to put on his suit or some other comparable outfit before heading out into the darkness. His pajamas would just have to do. It's not as though Grell was hard to track down, anyway. His yelling, along with the buzzing of his scythe, could be heard well before William reached the baseball diamond. ]
...honestly.
[ William summoned his own scythe and in an instant, it extended far enough to latch on to the back of Grell's dress shirt, effectively leaving the redhead to dangle from its end. ]
Keep quiet. You're going to attract more darkness monsters.
Re: Grell Sutcliff: Febuary 4th 3:47 AM
"Lemee go you dirty, ugly piece of..."
He stops abruptly as he recognizes the voice.
"WILL! It's you... Let me go you bloody sadist. How dare you treat me this... wait uh, Will? What are you doing in your pajamas?"
He dangles on the end of the scythe.
no subject
William can feel the darkness closing in around them, and he has no intention of standing here explaining pointless things to Grell. His current thought is not that Grell had returned home and has now been pulled back to Port, memories of being here previously, erased. No, his current assumption is that Grell must have run off to do something he's sure he'll hear complaints about in a few days time. And obviously he must have broken his NV in the process. And now, in the middle of the night, after being gone for nearly a month, he's woken up to come and rescue the idiot, as usual.
Let's just say William is livid right now.
Not waiting around for the monsters to strike, William manifests them back to their flat. He tucks his scythe away, letting Grell fall to the floor with a thud.
"Where the bloody hell have you been?"
no subject
"What are you talking about? You know where I've been. You came and got me! Where did you bring me? What is this place? Is this part of my punishment?"
He still has his scythe in his hand, not willing to let go or even put it back. William took it away before.
His stance is still defensive, as if he could rush any moment.
no subject
Because yes, William's angry, but he's also tired and a bit needy - though he'd never admit that last part aloud.
He turns away from Grell and walks off to the bedroom, assuming Grell will follow along.
no subject
He charges forward, swinging at William's back. He pulls the blow in an intentional miss, but it's close.
"Don't play with me, you bloody... bloody sadist!"
no subject
"If you would rather I be a sadist tonight, fine. You can spend the night on the
couch."
And then he's off to the bedroom, closing the door behind rather loudly.
no subject
Grell is howling at the top of his lungs now, beating at the bedroom door. He's dropped his scythe to one side, and it hits the floor with a crash.
"What are you doing? This isn't your apartment. Where did you bring me? Don't I have to do paperwork?"
no subject
The banging only continues for a few seconds more, because William has opened the door. But before Grell can topple to the floor, he catches him and pushes him up against the wall, getting right in his face.
"I want you to stop yelling and calm down. Understood?"
no subject
But this is wrong. This place is strange and Will just isn't acting like Will.
This closeness effects him, and his cheeks glow pink while he's momentarily shocked out of his tantrum.
"Will, there were monsters out there. And you're acting strange."
no subject
William's brows knit together, but this time it's not in anger at Grell. It's in confusion. All of Grell's protests and questions...
"What is the last thing you remember?"
no subject
no subject
no subject
Is it because you wanted me alone? Will, all you had to do was ask."
And, the old games are the most comfortable. He tries to get enough room to put his arms around William's neck.
no subject
"This is not a hotel, Grell. It is our flat."
no subject
"What?"
no subject
"Honestly. Do you think I would decorate my bedroom in this fashion? Obviously you had a hand in it."
no subject
He looks at the bed, and back at William, and back at the bed again.
He chews his lower lip and his teeth cut it. A little blood runs over his chin.
no subject
"I would think you'd have learned to be careful with those by now."
He wipes the blood from Grell's chin in an uncharacteristically caring manner.
no subject
That's what William does; hits him over the head with his scythe, pulls his hair, throws him into walls... right? He doesn't talk gently while wiping away traces of blood.
The differece seems to confused and upset him.
This is past playing games and flirting and declaring love. Besides, he does those things to get William's attention. And right now will is uncomfortably... present.]
Will, what is this! You stood on my head not five minutes ago and now you're wiping my chin! Is this part of the punishment?
no subject
[ William sighs, tossing the tissue away. If he was smart - or sane - he wouldn't bother with explaining any of this. He'd go back to treating Grell how he always had and everything would be normal again.
But he can't. During their time here together he's realized just how nice it can be to care for someone and have them care in return. Damn emotions. He knew he should have never let them in in the first place. ]
You were here previously, for more than a year. You were sent home, however, and apparently lost your memory upon returning.
no subject
Ok, I think you need a day off. Really. You're not making any sense.

action; Elsewhere in Siren's Port...
Yet she feels that very foreboding sort of tingle up her spine!
Mysterious.
