[Chuck gets up after the other speeches, smiling with champagne in hand, and clinks the glass with a fork to get everyone's attention. Once everybody shuts up and Chuck looks around at the sea of faces, his smile falters slightly.]
Wow, there's- there's a lot of people here. Whew.
[Sucking air through his teeth and fumbling slightly.]
God, uh, this was so much easier at the last wedding, when nobody knew who I was, and I was drunk...
Uh! Anyway, um. First, I just want to say mazel tov. Because- wow, right? It's so surreal and awesome to finally be here. You know, uh, they might not be my sons, but I'm just as happy to be at this wedding. I mean, Kurt and Blaine- they've gone through so much here... together and apart.
In a way, I'm glad about that. It sounds bad, but I am. Because when I first met these kids, they really were- kids. And they've faced all that joy and that pain - believe me, I've... seen a lot of pain in my time... [understatement] - and anyway, I saw them overcome those roadblocks, no matter how agonizing or insurmountable they seemed at the time.
So maybe they were kids when I first met them almost two years ago, but now they're men who I'm proud to call my friends.

[He raises his glass with the rest of the room.]
L'chaim.
