The Flowers of Robert Mapplethorpe
Who: Frau and Hattie
When: Valentine's Day, Noon
Where: Frau's Apartment then to the city
Summary: After an annoying day of 'work', Hattie goes to blow off some steam.
Warnings: None yet, if you know what I mean. AND I THINK YOU DO.
Should she call Larry? Not a -bad- idea, but that wouldn't do today.
Keigo? Not him either, that'd be -too- good a deed on her end.
Frau? Yes, he'd be the perfect person to be seen hanging around with on Valentine's Day! And, knowing him, he was at home doing nothing. Terrible.
And so she had the driver head off to his apartment without even calling. Hattie didn't bother to change, so once the car arrives, she's tromping up the stairs, in black slacks and white blouse under her winter coat, then knocks hard on his door.

"The thing about sushi," she then notes, "Is that there is a significant difference in quality between cheap and expensive sushi, at least that I've found. I would say this is about.. Oh.. Mid-budget. So if you go grocery shopping, don't buy too much of the cheaper stuff until you've tried it first."
There's another pause, "Have you ever heard of Vincent Nightray?"
no subject
"No, not that I know of."
no subject
Once the bill arrived she looked it over with a neutral expression. "You know what I heard? Apparently 'newcomers' have a special power. Is yours the zaiphon?"
no subject
He considered her question for a moment, but shook his head.
"I doubt it. I've had zaiphon since I was a kid. If newcomers here have a special power, I'd assume that means they gain it while they're here."
He'd never heard about special powers suddenly being gained, but that didn't mean it wasn't true.
no subject
"Oh. Hmn." Hattie's brows furrowed for a moment in thought, then nodded her head in understanding, "That does make sense. I've never noticed anything different about Ella, though, so maybe it is just a rumor after all."
"Though it'd be fun to have a special power. If you could have one, what would it be?"
no subject
With all of the other weird things that could happen in this place, he wouldn't be the least bit surprised if non-abilitied people somehow wound up with some. He wasn't going to dwell on it much though.
"I already have some."
He didn't particularly want more.
no subject
She then looked taken aback. At first she thought his answer was boring, but then she realized he had more than one! "Really?" she asked, interested, "What else can you do? Do we have to go outside for it?"
no subject
"I meant it would take time to come up, not related to time."
Though that was possible. He didn't get a chance to voice that thought though because Hattie immediately plowed on to what seemed to be more important details to her. Details about him. Great. Instead of sharing specifics, he just went with a vague answer that would allow her to form her own opinions. As usual.
"I'm a fighters. I have a lot of abilities up my sleeve."
Many he would never reveal to her either.
no subject
However, yes, Hattie has moved on already and is once more on the prowl, and is completely unaware of the tactics that he's using. Which is actually a little unusual considering her own (questionable) social skills; perhaps an angel is looking out for him today or something.
She hits a major roadblock there, because she doesn't know beyond the most basic of self-defense. Challenging him to a spar was out of the question. However,
"That sounds useful. Could you teach me? I only know one way."
no subject
"To fight? You're kidding."
Frau couldn't picture Hattie as a fighter at all. In fact, just the thought of it nearly made him laugh. She would probably break and nail and have a complete breakdown.
no subject
Though Frau was so right. After she chipped that nail she'd be traumatized. She'd be much happier making people fight -for- her, but frankly, that just isn't an option right now.
no subject
His eyes were glittering as he told her this. Despite her apparent irritation with his opinion, Frau didn't really care. He was speaking the truth after all. Hattie just wouldn't be cut out for fighting. It was completely opposite her personality.
no subject
Though the 'greater good' in Hattie's case would likely be getting to the last pair of shoes on sale before her opponent.
She then looked to him, almost pouting. Almost, "Well, then what -can- you see me doing then?"
no subject
Frau's version of a time when Hattie might pick up and fight was a lot more than just the "greater good." He might be able to picture her doing something dangerous and strenuous if her life or the life of someone she cared about were threatened to a certain point. Other than that, he doubted it.
He had to think for awhile about her last question. He knew a lot of answers, but she probably wouldn't like any of them. It made it a lot more difficult for him to come up with one.
"I could see you trying to help with the coordination of supplies during a fight."
no subject
On the other hand, why fix a method that isn't broken?
The answer she gets, she isn't entirely sure how to react to, but it starts off as disapproving, "Oh what does -that- have to do with me de-" pause.
Pause. "Actually, that doesn't sound so bad. I like that. I also would have accepted 'cheerleader'."
no subject
"I hadn't thought of that one, but I could certainly see that too."
And he could. She'd probably be really good at it too. Frau could easily picture Hattie screaming her head off to cheer on the people she liked. Like being the key word there. It wouldn't technically be related to sides.
no subject
"Hmn, I should start heading back home," she pondered aloud, though added directly to Frau, "This was a rather interesting trip, we should to it again sometime don't you think?"
no subject
He didn't think Hattie would do well at Purgatory. More importantly, he couldn't see her wandering around alone after sirens. It would likely get her killed.
no subject
She wasn't very interested in Purgatory, mostly because Ella worked there. However she's already come up with a hair-brained scheme to go there and get him to show his powers so chances are she is going to try to get herself killed soon. Have fun with that! "All right, let's take a cab back, shall we? Oh, and by the way, you'll have to buy lunch next time."
no subject
"As long as it isn't somewhere expensive I can probably manage that."
Not expensive being really on the cheap end of things. He was almost broke after needing to buy all of the heating packs during the colder months.
no subject
But she wants it to be a surprise so she doesn't tell him her idea, "Well then I think we have a deal." said with an almost catty smile.
And with that, they were off!
(OOC: And we can just handwave it from here? :o)
