self awareness and choice
Who: Gilbert Nightray, Elliot Nightray, the bitties of the Phancyhive house
When: Saturday the 18th, mid afternoon and onward
Where: Phancyhive
Summary: Gilbert is finally regaining his Contract with Raven.
Warnings: Descriptions of blood, injury and probably a lot of needless whining eventually.
[It was just the same as before; nothing has changed, even in this strange world so far removed from his own. An endless sea of darkness. And in here...was that thing. Just as he had been before, and before, and before that.
He's calmer this time. He knows what to expect. Wordlessly, Gilbert raises his hands and waits for the chains to engulf him as the great, large eyes open all around him and stare downwards.
...But the chains don't come. The great Raven rumbles, and the water beneath him trembles and ripples, but the silence engulfs him just as painfully as those chains once had.
It's been a while, he finally says, trying to get the Chain to act.
I see, Raven replies, fluttering the large black wings to surround him in even tighter. Gilbert hardly blinks an eye.
So it's you again. You lost last time, didn't you? You lost awareness of yourself, and in doing so, you lost the power to wield me.
It wasn't my fault--!
Your power will continue to remain hidden if you only make excuses for your weakness.
It's then that the chains shoot out and grab hold of his arms and legs, binding him in place. And just like before, the Chain's great talons reach out and rip his neck and chest open wide enough to spill his blood down his front and leak onto the ground beneath. He gasps in pain, but only holds tighter to the chains that bind his wrists, holding himself up as he continues staring the Chain down.
Your blood tastes the same as it always does. But this time...I wonder if you'll take this power for granted, as you did before.
I won't...
Has your devotion been shaken? You were louder last time.
He takes in a deep breath, levels his gaze and shouts in return.
My devotion...my resolve is the same as it always way! I'm still qualified, and I don't need to hear these lectures again! Nothing has changed! Whether it's here or at home...this is all still for 'his' sake! I won't let myself fail him or break my promises! So form the contract with me, Raven!
His hands grip the chains hard enough to bruise his wrists and cut into the skin, blood seeping into both sleeves as he grits his teeth.
...Very well. Once more, I'll be bound to that left hand. Lose yourself again, and this power that I've given you will continue to be meaningless, no matter who it is that you wield it for. Remember that, Contractor.
Blood drips from the black wings and soaks the mirror around his neck, and all at once the dimension collapses in a dizzying flurry of feathers and stale blood. Once it's over, he's lying there on the ground of the mansion's basement at his brother's feet, one hand clutching his neck where he's been cut, the other wrapped around the bloodseal mirror.
This power to seal, to protect, to kill...
I won't fail again!]
