Who: Jade and Jake
When: Awhile back... Maybe the day after Jade arrived. PRETTY DARN BACKDATED.
Where: Maybe starting at Jake's place and then idk, they'll probably wander or something.
Summary: Jake finally gets to see his grandmother! And they also talk about how confusing their universes are probably.
Warnings: Weird time stuff yo.

[ Jake is nervous, in fact he thinks he can safely say that he has never once been this nervous in his life!! He realizes there was talk of one day meeting Jade, and understood with strange time shenanigans he hadn't fully grasped that one day maybe they'd come face to face, but he hadn't expected it to be so soon... or in such a surprising and different location!

Still, she was amiable to the idea of meeting up with him in person, and he was going to make sure his place was absolutely spiffy before her arrival, which should be-- JUMPING JEHOSAPHAT!! She should be arriving any second now!

Jake is scrambling around his apartment, trying to pick up any item he's managed to leave lying around the place in the past week or so and toss it into the closet. Out of sight, out of mind. ]

[ Jade's a little nervous too, if she's being honest! She'd known that she'd get to meet her grandson one day - if either by timey wimey spacey wacey shenanigans or just eventually settling down and having a child, then a grandchild - but she hadn't been expecting it to happen here or now, under these circumstances. Then again, these circumstances are pretty crazy even for her, and even if the Oracle Clouds had warned her about something like this happening, she probably would've thought she was just seeing things wrong or something! And if she thinks about it, having a grandson means there's even more hope for the future, since - well, that means things must work out somehow.

On top of that, she's getting to meet another friend - two things to be happy about.

And on that note, she knocks on his door with a super exuberant knock if there ever was one. ]

[ Jake drops what he's holding as he hears the knock at the door. Fortunate what he happened to be holding was a couch pillow, so it didn't exactly break anything, but he still quickly snatches it up off the floor and tosses it to the side of the room before scrambling for the door.

He stops right in front of it, trying to calm down his jittery nerves. There's no reason to be this bothered by the situation. They've spoken already over the NVs, they should be able to handle this situation just fine. He can be calm and collected, and--

And tugging the door open so fast you smack yourself in the face is probably not the way to start that off. Ow. Rubbing his nose a little, but grinning despite that horrendous fuck up. ]

Jade! Good to finally see you in the flesh!

[ She giggles before she can quite stop herself, sorry Jake, and smiles broadly so at least there's that. ]

Hehehe, you too!

[ She's never seen him before of course, but she imagines she can see some family resemblance, some of herself and John and old old photographs (yellowed, far from new condition but kept with some care nonetheless) of her grandpa she's looked at a couple of times before. It puts her at ease, dissipates the last of any jitters she might have as she looks - up at him, actually, because she's both younger and smaller than her grandson. It's sort of funny. Also if that open door is an open invitation, she's going to walk in because - ]

Brr, it sure is cold outside!

[ Yes, there certainly is something very strange about having to look down at your own grandmother. Jake somewhat expected this, however, knowing UU's somewhat confusing explanations about other worlds and some vague hints that his ideas about time travel were correct! Of course, being aware of the fact that you're taller than her and actually seeing it in person are two different things completely.

Not that Jake is going to let her know that! There are other more important things to talk about anyways. And of course pleasantries to do away with before any of that.

And even though Jade is already making her way in, Jake will toss out a-- ]

[ As he tries to step out of her way as quickly as possible. ]

[ Whew, it's much warmer inside, and she has one last residual shiver as she walks in and has a look around, even though all Newcomer apartments look pretty similar. This one of course lacks certain personal details, the sorts of things Jade and Kanaya tended to leave around (or not around as it were, Kanaya preferring a cleaner house than Jade's necessarily used to). ]

How are you?

[ All the art of deception of course. Jake doesn't exactly keep a tidy abode. though it does lack his normal posters, having yet to acquire new ones to hang about all over the place.

And once Jade is in he'll shut the door. No point leaving it open now. ]

I've been swell! I'm really starting to get the hang of this place if I don't say so myself.

[ Turning around to face her. WHEW okay the pressure is ON, but this is his grandmother and he wants her to be proud to actually call him her grandson so he is not going to make this awkward! ]

How about you, Jade? Settling in alright?

Yes, I've been staying with Kanaya! I don't think I ever told you about her, but she's a really nice troll who helped out a lot with what we've been doing.

[ Like frog breeding, Hero of Spaceing, Scratch planning, all that good stuff. ]

A friend then? I'm glad you found such agreeable living arrangements for yourself!

[ As he says that he walks past her into the room proper, glancing around awkward. Hrrm... should he offer her a seat or is standing good?
