Kanaya's plans for Valentine's Day had been full. In part, to cope with the loss of Rose, which had hit her rather hard. But they were among humans, and so she felt it was probably best to understand their customs as best as she could, which meant immersing herself in them. Had she gotten it right? She had no idea. But she had tried.

Still, at the end of the day, it felt nice to come home and spend time with Jade (and the summarily invited Karkat). Just to spend time in another person's company, without it needing to be any kind of huge production. Just movies, popcorn, and painting each other's nails. That sort of thing.

"What do you think about blue?" she asked introspectively, looking at the bottle of bright robin's egg blue polish sitting on the floor.
