Cooking Mama would give up on Hattie :>
Who: Ella of Frell, Hattie of Ehvenn, and Kevin of ... somewhere else :3
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Ella and Hattie's home / Sector 5
Summary: Kevin offered to teach Hattie a few things about cooking. Ella is praying this won't be a disaster.
Warnings: P for Puppies.
She was able to put it off for a bit, but ... not for long. By 11:30AM Saturday morning, Ella was making her way back to her house, soaking wet. "Go jump in a lake, Ella." Rassin frassin - she'd like to push YOU in a lake, Hattie. Actually it wasn't that bad an idea, if she wasn't terrified Hattie's make good on her threat to have Animal Control take Kyra away. With a sigh, she stepped back into the house, intent to at least change clothes before Kevin arrived. Wet hair is wet hair, she'd live. She also stopped by Hattie's door to let her know someone would be coming to give her some lessons on cooking.

Kevin of GEORGIA
She tripped over her own feet and stopped, staring at them. Kevin just shook his head, carrying his bag. In his bag were several things that he thought he needed for today: a pretty new apron he'd found, a few cooking utensils that weren't standard fare in most kitchens, and Mimsy's food and water dishes.
"C'mon, Mimsy." He said gently. She trundled up the steps to the porch and sat to stare at the door.
Kevin knocked on the door, shifting his bag on his shoulder
Sold!!
After putting on one of her nicer orange dresses and fussing with her hair, she hears the knock on the door and gives a delighted squeal. Would he look like Byakuya? Or maybe like Toushirou? Maybe even Frau? Any would do. So after taking a couple of calm breaths..
The door swings open, Hattie with a bright smile on her face! .. That wavers upon seeing the boy before her. She leaned out the doorway looking first to the left, to the right, then finally has no choice but to aknowledge Kevin, "Hello.. Are you lost?"
She doesn't seem to have registered that Mimsy exists quiet yet.

Kyra wuffed quietly, hearing Hattie greet someone new, and smelling an unfamiliar animal. But before she could dash off, Ella ducked forward and scooped the animal up. "Oh no you don't - behave yourself."
Kyra's tail thumped against Ella's side as she carried the animal to the steps and set her down again. "At my side." She told the pup, who obediently did not charge down the steps like normal, but trotted down along with Ella. Like a good girl.
"Hattie, is that -- oh it is, hi!"
no subject
"No ma'am. I'm here because -"
He broke off as Mimsy tripped over herself and hid behind his legs because OMG ANOTHER DOG. She flattened herself against his ankles, whimpering softly.
"Howdy, Miss Ella." He said, leaving Mimsy alone for the moment. "I ain't late am I?"
no subject
It isn't until the whimpering that she looks down to the other dog, and she almost pales. Almost. With a puzzled look, she kept quiet for the time being, until introductions (and 'splainin) were in order.

"Allow me to present my lady and stepsister, Lady Hattie of Ehvenn." She offered primly. "Lady Hattie, this is Kevin - he has agreed to do the honor of assisting you with a few recipes in the kitchen. I hope I didn't presume too much in this."
no subject
"Yes'm, this is Mimsy." She looked up at him at the sound of her voice and then went back to staring at the other dog.
He smiled. "Miss Hattie, it's right nice t'meet ya." He didn't mind her not liking him. It wasn't that big of a deal to him.
no subject
Well, for Hattie it explained why he was here in the first place. Ella seemed to be bonkers for animals. Well, at least he had manners and that was a good enough start for the blonde.
After a moment of silence, "Really. Stay silent, Ella." she then gave a fluttering laugh to Kevin, "My my, Kevin, so when did you hear about me? Did it happen to be when Ella spoke over the network recently?"
no subject
Still, seeing as she can't speak, she kneels a little to give some attention to Kyra. Good puppy. Turning her attention to Mimsy, she offers a hand to the other puppy. It's okay, they're good people! ...
Well she is anyway.
no subject
Mimsy was sneaking out from behind his legs to sniff at the hand. A soft yip and she sniffed at Ella's hand, still watching Kyra warily.
"Umm, yes'm, that was when." Kevin agreed. "She was askin' 'bout teachin' someone t'cook. I like t'cook, so I volunteered."
no subject
"Well, Kevin, I requested very specific kinds of recipes. If you could confirm the level of difficulty, so that we are all on the same page?" oh Ella. You are dead. You are so so dead if Kevin says what she thinks he is going to say.
no subject
That was horribly untrue of course, but she made a deal and a promise, and she couldn't go back on that, as much as she wanted to. Her smile widened when Mimsy sniffed her hand, giggling silently.
So. Cute.
She straightened again, beaming and glancing towards Kevin and Hattie again. Aha ha ha. That question.
no subject
Kevin blinked a bit surprised. "Um, I was jus' gonna teach ya the recipes I learned on when I was younger." Because that seemed like the best place to start. And he'd been pretty young at the time. "Figured it would be the right place t'start fer us t'start."
no subject
Except, Vincent had taught her not to do things like that anymore for.. Reasons.
Taking that into consideration, Hattie seemed to warm up, or at least give the young man a chance, and she finally gives him a curtsy, "That sounds -perfect-, thank you so much for taking the time to visit. Forgive my rude behavior earlier, it was a grave misunderstanding on my part. Please, come in, come in!"
"I'd bought a new apron so I'll go ahead and get that from upstairs. Thank you, Ella. Could you be a dear and help him settle in for me." Hattie said afterward, fully facing Ella so that he wouldn't see the dirty look she shot at her. 'You can talk now.' she mouthed, then took her temporary leave.
no subject
She turned to Kevin. "I thought we could let the dogs play outside while you help Hattie in the kitchen. At least until it starts to get late - we can bring them in again before sirens." Then to the pooch. "Would you like that Mimsy?"
Kyra certainly seemed to, the puppy's tail wagging slowly. "The kitchen is just in the other room."
no subject
"If'n ya'd lead the way?"
no subject
Oh Kevin, Hattie can always use a new -anything-. She will be ecstatic to know the two dogs are outside instead of running about inside though! She shuffled about in her room, grumbling to herself in annoyance as she put on an orange apron she hadn't used yet.
no subject
"Of course." She walked down the hall to the fenced in yard out back. Kyra, knowing the routine already, scrambled ahead of them to wait anxiously at the door. C'moncomeonyou'resoslowlet'sgolet'sgolet'sGOOOOOOOOOOO.
She was already bouncing on her paws by the time Ella reached the door, and she giggled, opening it to let Kyra out. "Go ahead Mimsy - Kyra's a good girl, she won't hurt you." Even if she was a wolf puppy and had a lot of people thinking bad things about her because of that.
Well Mimsy could always stay on the porch if she didn't trust Kyra. Anyway, once the dogs were situated, Ella went back inside and led the way to the kitchen.
Hnn... if Hattie was occupied in the kitchen with Kevin, maybe she could take the opportunity to steal her necklace... Wait, no, damnit, Hattie was still wearing it.
no subject
"Dunno how long she'll stay out. She don't like bein' away from me fer long." Kevin admitted, following Ella into the kitchen. It was a nice kitchen at least. "Was ya gonna stay an' watch? Wouldn't mind teachin' two if'n ya wanted to learn." Kevin set his bag down on the chair and pulled out a pretty pink and blue apron with lace around the bottom. He laid it across the back of the chair and then pulled out an old, worn red and green apron that looked to have bleach stains on it. Guess which one was his?

How do I look?
[The mirror responded with numerous compliments, causing Hattie to not only grin wide, but her ego to skyrocket. Hattie was now ready for THE WORLD. Suddenly the task ahead of her didn't seem so bad! She'd be back downstairs shortly.]
no subject
It seemed that whenever Ella told her something, she immediately did the opposite. Sigh. "Besides, she doesn't wish to learn from me. I attempted to teach her once already and it ... ended poorly."
I.E. It ended with Hattie breaking a nail and stomping off, leaving Ella to clean up the mess.
... speaking of which, Ella walked over to the counter at a thought, and took out a pair of gloves. To protect her Lady's delicate hands.
no subject
Besides, Kevin had decided that biscuits and chicken soup were really easy things to make. Mighty tasty too.
He slid the apron on, making sure it didn't touch his face and tied it in the back. He also rooted through his bag and pulled something out, clipping it to his ear...
... Just in case.
no subject
Hattie finally walked into the kitchen with a patient smile, "Sorry for the wait! Well then, what shall we be preparing toda- Oh." the very first thing she sees is Kevin's apron. It's a disaster! Her thoughts about it are written all over her face.
"Ah, Kevin, is it?" ... "Would you like to borrow one of our aprons?" And what's with the gloves? Are they going to perform culinary surgery?
no subject
"My lady, your hands should be protected. You don't want to break a nail or get such flawless skin dirty, do you?"
God. She felt sick to her stomach just saying those words. But she said them with an earnest smile. At Hattie's question though, she glances over at the boy, and then back to Hattie.
"Forgive me, my lady, but he already has an apron."
no subject
Sure, it was faded, but it was comfortable, and he liked it. It had been the first thing he'd bought in the Port, and yes, he was just a tiny bit sentimental. Besides, when he wasn't at home, Mimsy curled up in it and slept, because she was lonely.
"Ya ready t'begin?"
