First Meeting of the Teen Titans!

Who: Red Robin and anyone who received a text message about the Teen Titans.
When: Saturday, March 24th, 9:00 pm.
Where: A warehouse by the docks in Sector 11.
Summary: Red Robin sent out a recruitment message to other teenagers in the city. Anyone who signed up on the OOC post is invited to the meeting. Sign ups are still open! If you'd like your character to be a part of the Teen Titans, respond to the OOC post!
Warnings: Possible language (considering who's coming) and mentions of violence.

The world we live in is in trouble. The companies are the ones in control of a government that doesn’t want to help its people. Kids are getting picked up off the streets and sold into slavery, and that’s not even the worst thing that could happen. There are superheroes here, like Superman, and Batman. But they can’t be everywhere at once, as hard as they try. They need help, but superheroes can’t ask for help.

We can help. We need to take control back of this island. We need to make sure no one else dies out in the darkness. We have the time, the energy, and the know-how to do all of this.

My name is Red Robin. If you’re interested in fighting against injustice and helping people, then come to Sector 11 on the 24th at 9:00 pm. The first meeting of the Teen Titans will take place there, and all questions will be answered.

If you don’t want to join, no problem. This message will delete itself 30 minutes after being opened, no matter what you decide.

That was the text that Tim had sent out to everyone he had considered as a potential applicant for the Teen Titans. He knew that it was going to be difficult to start out; he could remember hearing all about the original Titans and their problems, as well as when Young Justice transformed into the next generation of Titans. But while the city had it's superheroes in Superman and Batman, there were so many people out there who wanted to help, but didn't know how to start.

It had taken Tim some time to plan everything. He had made the deal with the warehouse owner; if they could keep people from stealing anything from them, then the Titans could have their own space. That was easy enough to do, of course. The hard part came after, when he had to start transporting equipment into it. It wasn't going to be close to what they had back home, but it had a nice set of computers. A few couches and places to sit, a TV that they could connect to the computers. A little medical spot that had a lot of First Aid kits. It would work, for now.

But the first meeting was going to be down in the bottom half of the warehouse. Large, empty space with a few boxes around; it made for a good meeting spot. That's where he would explain everything, dressed in his Red Robin costume. No one would know who he really was.

ooc: Some ground rules! If someone is wearing a mask, you cannot know who they are. If your character decides not to join the Titans, that's perfectly all right! But they will not be able to tell anyone else where the place is located, nor who was there and what was said. Leave all sabotage efforts for another day, guys. All electronic devices are disabled as soon as you get within twenty feet of the warehouse. No one will be allowed upstairs for right now.

Action tagging is a go! There will be 4 sections for everyone to reply to, and tagging other people is expected, so have fun making some new CR!

[Oh shit. She hadn't meant to get the question back. She had just been curious, as usual.] Ah, well, aging doesn't really work the same way for soul reapers as it does for humans... [Neatly avoiding the question there.]

So make a guess.

Oh, ah... I don't know my birthday for certain, though there's a day I celebrate it, but... I'm about a hundred and twenty five years old.

[allucinator]

[To his credit, Jack looked shocked for only a moment.]

Well. You're the cutest hundred and twenty-five year old I ever met.

[plum_that_snaps]

[She just looks at him while an incredibly obvious blush rises to her cheeks.] Ah, I'm... uh... thank you... Jack, right? Or should I call you Peregrinus? [That question contains no hint of teasing whatsoever. She's serious.]

[allucinator]

Jack.

[He grins at her, vaguely amused at the blush. It's been a while since he's done that to anyone.]

So, uh, how exactly does that work, if you don't mind me askin'? The whole bein' old but lookin' young thin'. I ask only cuz I'm pretty sure that's my fate too, with this powers an' all.

[plum_that_snaps]

Ah, well, hmmm... [She remembers this from lessons at the Academy. But it's still complicated.] Our bodies aren't made of the same thing humans are... it's a spiritual body, made of spiritual matter. I'm what you would probably call a soul.

But our physical appearance changes... well, I guess what I'm trying to say is that our biology is different, and so what affects how I look is different, too.

Sorry, I don't think that was very clear.

[allucinator]

Nah, I think I got it. A bit o' it, anyway. So you're . . . you're not human at all, are you? Did you choose your appearance?

[plum_that_snaps]

Oh, no! [If she had, she would have much bigger breasts. And about 8 extra inches of height.] It's more that appearance changes much slower. The oldest shinigami live for thousands of years.

But you said you have a power that will make you look young, too?

[allucinator]

More like . . . keep me young. Apparently. So I'm told, anyway. I, uh, I'm immortal. And I'm told either I'll be stuck lookin' like this forever, or maybe I'll just age real real slow. So.

[plum_that_snaps]

So we can grow up slowly together!

[allucinator]

[He smiles-- and then grins, one hand rubbing over his mouth.]

Yeah. Yeah, I guess we can. I, uh . . . anyone ever told you you were a good pick-me-up?

[plum_that_snaps]

Pick-me-up? [Puppy face. Your lingo's a tad lost on her, Jack.]

[allucinator]

Yeah. It means, like, uh, cheerful, you know? Like, if somebody ain't so happy, and you talk to em, you make em happier. You pick up their spirits. Pick me up.

[plum_that_snaps]

Oh! No, no one's ever called me that before... [She likes this word. This is like her mission in life.] Thank you!

So, immortal means... you can't die? At all? Or... [Oh no. Bad thoughts.] You do die, and then have to come back?

[allucinator]

The latter. I can die, yeah, but I just come right back again.

[plum_that_snaps]

Ah... [She frowns. That... was awful. All that pain, and suffering, and then to come back and perhaps have to do it all over again...] You... must heal when you come back, right? [Does it hurt a lot?] I guess, that's good...

[allucinator]

[He glances over at her, looking a bit guilty.]

I heal quick. Ten seconds, tops. It's-- I-- you don't gotta look like that, it's all right.

[plum_that_snaps]

Yeah, I... [She wipes the faintest beginning of a tear from her eye.] No, it's good that you come back.

[She tries to move quickly onto a happier topic.] It'll make you a good hero, right? The bad guys won't ever be able to get rid of you!

[allucinator]

Yeah, exactly. So don't feel bad, all right? Hey, tell me what you can do, sides look pretty while bein' old.

[plum_that_snaps]

What I can do? Oh, you mean... [fighting.] Well, I have a partner when I fight. [She carefully pulls her katana from its sheath, and holds it in front of her, blade dangling towards the floor.] Her name is Tobiume.

[allucinator]

[He whistles softly.]

Would you look at that. How good are you?

Well, I practice a lot... though I haven't since coming here...but I could be a lot better. [Modest Hinamori is modest.]

Everybody could be better at everythin'. If he got in touch with you, I bet you're pretty damn good.
