against the grain of dystopic claims
Who: Peter (
askedtobe), Gabriel (
gabriel_gray) and YOU
When: Today, afternoonish
Where: Around sector four, some random park.
Summary: Come give doggy!Sylar cuddles.
Warnings: .... cuddles?
[ It had been nearly a full week since Peter had found out that Sylar could shape-shift into a dog, and admittedly, he knew the dangers of taking him out in public. The dangers namely being whether or not Peter could manage to keep it together if they happened across anyone he knew who might want to give his new dog Gabriel a pat on the head or two. Peter wasn't exactly known for being all grins, and it would be seen as odd if he cracked up every time somebody gave Sylar a hug.
But that was half the point; being seen in public together, a start of something far more. The beginning of not having to lie with every single word he said. Granted, this was just lying in a different sort of way.
However dangerous, Peter gladly took the opportunity to put Gabriel on a leash and head out the door for a walk. But he didn't exactly stay on a leash for long as they headed to a park in sector four, Peter tossing a ball in his hand as they went. It's not like he actually thought Gabriel would run away, but he didn't know how much doggy instinct had been instilled into his transformation. And admittedly, he was kind of curious to see. Which was exactly why as soon as they hit the park, Peter reeled back and gave the ball a gentle, well-practiced throw. Just to see what would happen, if anything at all. ]
[ ooc; two things! one; feel free to run into P&S on the way or in the park.
two: for those that do reply to this log, be aware that being around Peter means he can sponge up your character's ability. for those who don't know, he doesn't steal abilities, he simply mimics them. but if you don't want this to happen, please do let me know and we can work something out, as i'm not in the habit of trying to make peter have everyone's ability. ]

A year or so. Fully grown but still acts like a big puppy.

He snapped it up, and then began to bounce his way back, throwing it up in the air several times on the way and sending the ball flying off several times, having to go after it. He caught it two or three times more, exhuberantly, and then came proudly back to drop it onto Peter's shoe.
And shot Duo another look out the corner of his brown eyes. Why was he beginning to think they didn't know each other? How was that possible? Who cared--ball. He barked. ]

[He watched the dog run off, eyebrows going up when he started tossing the ball up and catching it while bringing it back.]
Geez... talented, too. Can't say I've seen many dogs to that.
[He gets down on one knee again, reaching his empty hand out for Gabriel to sniff]
He okay with pets?
no subject
Not sure actually. Some kind of Shepard. [ Being no dog expert, Peter really has no idea what exact breed Gabriel resembles. So he just shrugs, going with the easiest answer he can think of. ] The pound wasn't sure either, they told me he might be a mutt.
[ Picking up the ball from his shoe and giving it a light toss into the air, he nods. ] Yeah, he's fine. Go ahead.

But then Duo is offering his hand, and he sniffed it and pushed his nose under it, offering his head for patting just like a real dog.
Only half of it was instinct this time. The uncertainty belonged to the animal and to Sylar both, but everything seemed to be going fine so far. ]

He smiled at the head going under his hand, scratching behind one of those pointed ears.]
Pretty, for a mutt. Obviously got some good genes in there.
[He keeps petting, looking up at Peter]
Sorry... sittin' here gabbin' at you like this. Name's Duo Maxwell.
[he'd offer a hand if he wasn't preoccupied, so for now it's just an awkward smile]

Peter had to stop looking wide-eyed from surprise and actually remember to speak, though, giving his head a shake. ]
You're Duo? Should've introduced yourself sooner, I'm Peter. Claire's uncle.
[ Flicking his gaze down to Gabriel, a number of things finally slid into place and he finally understood the initial reluctance from the dog. There wasn't anything much he could do now but act the innocent, just like he'd been doing minutes before he realized who this was.
Reaching down to offer Gabriel's side a bit of scritching, if only for some assurance that everything was okay, Peter offered a smile to Duo. ]
Glad to see you're okay.

He tilts his head a little more into Peter's hand, his eyes rolling back under his eyelids, and it seemed that absolutely nothing of the human words made sense to him. It all whirred together into a blissful sound and feeling of affection and warmth, and everything was good; the world was grass and Peter and scritches.
And his right foot suddenly thumped the ground all on its own, and he couldn't care less, because maybe it was supposed to do that. ]

[He kept scratching around Gabriel's ears, not wanting to disappoint the canine that was obviously enjoying the attention. He some how didn't pick up as the look of surprise actually being one of momentary shock, figuring Peter was just taken back by the weird chance meeting.]
Well uh. Yeah. I'm fine now. No big deal.
[He tactfully doesn't mention the forced haircut. He's getting used to the new style at least.]
Nice t' finally meet you.
no subject
That doesn't stop him from snorting at Gabriel's sudden foot thumping and so he keeps up with the scritches right where they are, looking back to Duo. ]
You, too. Claire wanted to introduce us earlier, but-- didn't find the time.
[ You know, between all the killing and dying and things. He's just not going to say that outright, and instead look a little sheepish. ]
You seen her recently?

He lay down on his side, right there, and listened to the conversation going on above him. He could barely keep up. Wasn't this form supposed to make surveillance easier? He thought he might get lost in it if he so much as tried. ]
no subject
[He straightens finally, rubbing at the back of his neck with a sigh. He really didn't want to think there was a chance she might not come back.]
Helen said she's gone. Her NV was bouncing back messages...
