Who: Diego Armando (
beenwaitinglong) and Alan Wake
bestseller
When: Around 6pm; give or take.
Where: Merlotte's
Summary: A meeting and some drinking.
Warnings: Some language? Drunken conversation? Will update if anything more severe happens.
Alan had made it to the bar around the time Diego had set up the initial meeting. Though it had been his first time arriving to Merlotte's, the place was relatively easy to spot. He wasn't planning on drinking too much -he'd had his share of late night partying in the past- but one or two beers would suffice. And with about an hour and a half before the sun set, Alan for sure wasn't going to go on any binges.
Pushing open the doors, the dim light had obstructed his vision, but closing the doors behind, Alan's eyes adjusted quickly. He headed in the familiar direction of the bar itself and was soon greeted with dozens of glass bottles on the shelves.
He didn't think Diego would be too hard to spot.

"I wrote some pretty popular books," he shrugs, "they made it on the New York Times Bestseller list. Ever hear of a fictional detective named Alex Casey?"

"And I do intend to try one of these days. I've just got to fit it in between all my cases and cups of coffee."

Back when his first book got high praise then yeah, it was a big deal to make it on that list, but being two years- no, four years now- it really wasn't anything to praise about. Especially considering that with the popularity came the fans. And the paparazzi. Those were not fun times.
"I'm sure between those two it'd be really difficult to squeeze in writing a book," he jokes and as the beer finally arrives, takes a sip. It tastes bitter, but it's a flavor he doesn't mind.

"Particularly with the coffee," he chuckled, and raised a new coffee cup as he got his beer.
"So. What have you been up to around here since you arrived?"

It's nice to know that he can enjoy sunlight and only worry about the Darkness at night, but it's still an uncomfortable situation he doesn't want to adjust to. The sooner he leaves the better, but the fact remains that there are people trapped in this town too, and that doesn't sit right with him. "I've been getting myself familiar with this place, meeting new people," he stops and takes a sip of his beer, "trying out the drinks."

"That's just about the best any of us can do," he sighs in response, shaking his head. "It seems bizarre that the best solution to all this is treating it as normal. Getting a job, settling down. Gives a new meaning to 'hurry up and wait' for an answer."

A vacation which should be over real soon. Unfortunately, Alan will have to conform and get work soon; live like any civilian, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop looking for a way out. Last dimension he was in; time moved a lot faster, sadly, time seems to be going at a regular pace here.
