Dubious Purchase

Where: Eric's starter apartment, that Alan is sharing
Summary: Eric has purchased Grell's shoes from William. Whether he's adventureous or just plain bored is hard to tell.

Eric examines the bright red boots with the absurd heels. Clearly, they're made for the sexual gratification of the person wearing them, or the person looking at the person wearing them. They're not for walking.

He thinks for a moment what acts the shoes may have been a part of with it's previous owner and his... roommate. He pushes the thought from his mind.

Curiosity nags at the back of his mind. With a smirk, he takes off his pants and black loafers, and sets them aside. He slides his leg into the shoe. The shoe is a bit long to fit his foot, and it's tight over his calf, but he can wear them reasonably. He slips on the other one, looking down and studying the effect.

He chuckles to himself, and tries to stand.

You know he won't talk unless he really thinks you need to know something. And this is all kind of personal for him. It is mind-boggling enough that one of us or should I say two of us came together like that.

It is hard. I'm certain it is doubly so for William after denying it and himself for so long.

There's something about Sutcliff that's both sexy and terrifying. Playing with fire I guess... Oh well. Spears can have him, that's for sure.

Of course he won't talk, that's why I've taken the boots hostage.

[He turns his head so fast at that that his neck actually hurts. Those brows raise his eyes widen - shock absolute shock. He couldn't have possibly heard that right but he knows he did.]

Give them back.

[Only now he's not playing he wants those things out of the apartment as soon as possible. There's a faint hint of harshness to his words, a side effect of the jealousy that's taken hold even as he slides from the couch.]

Alan? Wait, what's wrong? I'll give them back, I just need Spears to answer some questions...

Nothing, I'm just tired I guess. Fine but I want William to have those back soon. Very soon.

[ochitashinigami]

"It's all right... all right... it tires out everyone living here.

[amongthethorns]

It's not this place.

[It's this dance we seem to keep doing, an endless flow of steps, dips and turns.]

Maybe a nap will help.

[Eric looks worried.]

Are you ill?

[amongthethorns]

[Have a somewhat forced smile.]

It's not the Thorns if that's what you're worried about. I'm fine.

I know it's not. I can tell from your breathing. I just... thought something was wrong. I know you, remember?

Eric, I am fine. Just let it lie - it'll pass.

[Though that comes out bit snappy and he snorts softly at that last bit; it is hard not to.]

[Eric takes a long, slow sigh. He comes to stand in front of Alan, and cups his cheek in his palm.]

Alan... [The tone is gentle, but chiding.] Don't hide. What is it?

[amongthethorns]

[Oh, that's cruel. His eyes close and he turns his head rubbing his cheek into his palm.]

You can't seriously think that he's sexy.

[But it's back that nagging mocking voice from before from the first day; hissing reminding him that Eric doesn't want to look at him that he's revolting, disgusting.]

[ochitashinigami]

[Eric sputters, letting out a laugh. The idea that Alan could be jealous of ANYONE... There's no one, no one that could compare to Alan in Eric's eyes. And SUTCLIFF! That ridiculous mad thing! The very idea that Alan could feel threatened by someone like Grell, well, it's funny.

But the laugh comes out before Eric realizes how it will sound.]

[And everything just kind of shatters right there. That laugh is destroying every shred of calm inside. His eyes narrow and he pulls away, glaring.]

Is it really so funny? I don't see how it could be funny.

[He turns on his heel stalking into the bedroom. He pauses in the doorway glancing at Eric over his shoulder.] If you don't mind sleep on the couch tonight. I'll see about looking into a place of my own in the morning.

[ochitashinigami]

Alan, I...

[This takes Eric completely by surprise.]

Alan don't. Please... I'll sleep on the couch if that's what you want. But...

[amongthethorns]

Not now. Please not now...

[Then there's just a stoney silence for a bit, fingers flexing against the door frame before he sighs softly.]

We'll deal with it in the morning. Come get a pillow and things.

[ochitashinigami]

[Eric still doesn't understand, but he knows that Alan is upset. He'll respect that.]

That's fine. I'll sleep on the couch and leave you alone. Just... don't leave, all right?

[amongthethorns]

[He'll nod stepping into the bedroom.]

You'd only come sleep on the couch at my place if I did.

[He may be angry and his pride destroyed; there might just be a hollow pang of pain in his chest but he knows Eric well enough to know that it'd be just like home.]

[ochitashinigami]

[Eric gives him a sad smile.] You bet I would...

[He follows him in, very contrite, walks over to the bed, and picks up his pillow.]

[amongthethorns]

[He sighs and sits on the bed frowning a bit, drawing the extra blanket into his lap folding it neatly.]

Why must you look at me like that? As if I've hurt you...

[He offers the blanket up to him, biting at the inside of his cheek.]

[Eric shakes his head.]

You didn't do anything. It's my fault. I'm just sorry that I upset you.

[He takes the blanket and touches Alan's cheek.]

Don't do that, you'll get a sore.

[amongthethorns]

Upset is a bit of an understatement.

[He closes his eyes leaning into that touch as mad as he is he wants that touch. He wants Eric close and with him. He releases the bit on the inside of his cheek.]

I'll be fine. I shouldn't have pushed or expected things to change.

[Eric sits down on the bed next to him.]

Alan, I'm sorry. I hurt you and I respect that, but I don't even understand why you're angry. You didn't do anything.

I shouldn't have laughed at you... [He tries.]

[amongthethorns]

[He glances down to his hands that he's folded in his lap, anywhere but at Eric.]

Think about it for a minute. Just.. replay everything in your head for a second and maybe you'll figure it out.

No you really shouldn't have...[He's never any good with things like this, peeling away the mask he wears and exposing weakness - even to Eric; especially to Eric.]
