He'd made appointments with various people. He was going to keep them. But even still, he was looking entirely well. He'd lost a little weight, was tense, and mostly very still. Except his eyes. They never stopped moving.

Emma looks Magneto over thoughtfully.

"Just back from work. I'm clinging to the illusion of normalcy."

She tilts her head. "Should I ask how you're doing, or drop the subject for a couple of weeks and help you cling to the illusion of normalcy?"

"Sometimes that's all we have."

He stepped back, allowing her to step inside. Rather than return to his office he headed towards the other side of the condo, towards the window seat.

"I don't know, honestly."

She sighed. "A comforting perspective is, well, comforting. Even if I'm aware of the extent to which that's all it is."

Emma entered and followed Michael across the condo, walking back and forth within the room once before leaning against the wall with her arms folded. "I don't think I want to quiz you today," she said after a moment, "you look like you've had entirely too many illusions stripped away all at once, and I've never known you to have a surplus of them."

He hopped up on the window seat, sitting with his back against the wall, sit saw for following her with his eyes. "That's one way to put it."

He sighed. Already, he was wanting nothing more than to retreat back to the brother's apartment and not come out for a while. A long while. "Have I missed anything important?"

Emma shrugged. "I've been known to be cynical. If it's any consolation, stripping down to the bone is sometimes a good start to rebuilding."

"Well. Nothing you need to deal with now. If Jubilee hasn't mentioned, the investigation into Crowley's death has been suspended for lack of evidence. I don't know under what circumstances it might be restarted. I mentioned Chuck before. Loki was gone for a day and apparently spent a year or more at home. There will be aerial races this week."

She thinks. "SERO has reworked its health insurance."

He shock his head lightly. "She hadn't. We haven't spoken about it." Chuck and Loki he knew about. "Godot will be happy. no doubt." Drily. Daedalus had his hands full with that one.
