Who: Roxy Lalonde, Jane Crocker, and later: Dirk Strider and Jake English
When: Backdated to last month!
Where: Starter Apartments
Summary: One scary, stormy night... the Alpha girls crash at the boys' place for some much needed comfort!
Warnings: Probably just language for now!
A loud clap of thunder forces Roxy awake from her early evening slumber. Startled, the teenage girl blearily glances over at the clock on her nightstand. 9:30p.m. Holy shit -- how had she managed to sleep for over three hours?
Usually her alcohol-induced naps last for an hour, at most. Roxy sits up slowly in her bed, wiping at her eyes and wincing a bit as another bang of thunder hits. That storm outside sounds absolutely nasty.
She's positive that at this rate, she won't be able to go back to sleep for a while. No matter, though -- she'll just see what Jane's doing and hang out with her 'til she feels drowsy again. It's great being able to room with her best friend!
She reaches over to turn on the lamp on her nightstand.
Uh-oh.
It isn't turning on. She quickly gets out of bed and walks over to the main switch on the wall, flicking it on and off several times. No response.
The lights are completely out.
Roxy flinches at the third clap of thunder. Rubbing at her arm, she opens the bedroom door and calls into the dark hallway.
"Crocker? Where are you?"

Roxy flinches at the third clap of thunder. Rubbing at her arm, she opens the bedroom door and calls into the dark hallway.

"Anyways-" But the lightening flashes again, cutting Jane off, and she lets out a tiny squeak of surprise. "Dirk probably has some, wouldn't you think?" She looks over at Roxy. "Batteries, I mean."

"Uh, I don't know, but this place is giving me the heebie-jeebies..." She rubs at her arm and frowns, very uncomfortable with the sounds she's hearing. "Hey, I have an idea! We should totally crash at Dirk's for the night."

"I'd been planning to use those sometime."

She shrugs, even though Jane can't see her actions. "Use them when? Aren't those, like, really cheap? It isn't a big deal." She reaches out to grab Jane's closest arm, her hand grazing past her tummy accidentally in the process. "Come on, let's get going!"
The sooner, the better.

She finally locates the doorknob. With a creak, it's open and she's tugging Roxy out into the corridor, where she wrinkles her nose at the musty rain smell.
"Yuck. I bet all these windows leak!"

Even so, she too fans the air around her and frowns.

She grimaces, though, even as she tries to make a positive situation out of this. It's nearly pitch black, with all the power out, and she has to grope around with one arm as she trudges ahead of Roxy. This isn't how she wanted to spend her night, and it shows in her grouchy voice.
"I'm getting all turned around without the lights on! Can you lead the way, Lalonde?"

She pauses for a moment. "Here, I've got a totally stellar and obvious idea." Without warning, she hooks her arm with Jane's and picks up the pace noticeably, feeling the walls and nearby doors as she goes along. It's more the apprehension of being in this situation that motivates her to move faster.
At long last, they reach the stairwell, and Roxy glances over at Jane's direction. "See? That wasn't so bad. Now let's hurry the fuck up... this is the shit scary movies are made of."

Good God these floors are disgusting. It's a good thing Roxy can't see Jane's face right now, because she would definitely make fun of it.

Roxy looks down at her own two feet, and without a pause, asks, "Want my sneakers?"

Her face scrunches up in disgust, but she keeps walking, subtly dropping her slippers back down to the floor as she does so. "No, I'll just wear these. Thanks."
