Who: Roxy Lalonde, Jane Crocker, and later: Dirk Strider and Jake English
When: Backdated to last month!
Where: Starter Apartments
Summary: One scary, stormy night... the Alpha girls crash at the boys' place for some much needed comfort!
Warnings: Probably just language for now!

A loud clap of thunder forces Roxy awake from her early evening slumber. Startled, the teenage girl blearily glances over at the clock on her nightstand. 9:30p.m. Holy shit -- how had she managed to sleep for over three hours?

Usually her alcohol-induced naps last for an hour, at most. Roxy sits up slowly in her bed, wiping at her eyes and wincing a bit as another bang of thunder hits. That storm outside sounds absolutely nasty.

She's positive that at this rate, she won't be able to go back to sleep for a while. No matter, though -- she'll just see what Jane's doing and hang out with her 'til she feels drowsy again. It's great being able to room with her best friend!

She reaches over to turn on the lamp on her nightstand.

Uh-oh.

It isn't turning on. She quickly gets out of bed and walks over to the main switch on the wall, flicking it on and off several times. No response.

The lights are completely out.

Roxy flinches at the third clap of thunder. Rubbing at her arm, she opens the bedroom door and calls into the dark hallway.

"Crocker? Where are you?"

Choosing to ignore Roxy's reply, Jane just squares her shoulders and gives the flashlight one more despondent shake.

"Anyways-" But the lightening flashes again, cutting Jane off, and she lets out a tiny squeak of surprise. "Dirk probably has some, wouldn't you think?" She looks over at Roxy. "Batteries, I mean."

"There probably won't be any power over at his place, either." Spoken like a true tightass. But even as she says it, Jane is mentally locating her closest sweater and wondering if she should bring some snacks, just in case. She breaks another candle in the process, and curses softly under her breath.

"I'd been planning to use those sometime."

Jane shakes her arm free, and then hooks one hand firmly around Roxy's elbow, feeling her way towards the door s l o w l y. She doesn't want to risk tripping over anything laying about, right? Besides, this is kind of like an adventure in a detective novel, and she would be lying if she said there wasn't a little bit of excitement in making a midnight excursion to their friends' place. It makes her feel a bit like Nancy Drew in an unbearable nerdy kind of way.

She finally locates the doorknob. With a creak, it's open and she's tugging Roxy out into the corridor, where she wrinkles her nose at the musty rain smell.

"Yuck. I bet all these windows leak!"

"Well, I wouldn't say slums..."

She grimaces, though, even as she tries to make a positive situation out of this. It's nearly pitch black, with all the power out, and she has to grope around with one arm as she trudges ahead of Roxy. This isn't how she wanted to spend her night, and it shows in her grouchy voice.

"I'm getting all turned around without the lights on! Can you lead the way, Lalonde?"

Jane stumbles along after Roxy, tripping over her floppy bedroom slippers. "Jeez, you don't have to pull so hard. I'm coming." But she's in just as much of a hurry to get into the safety of an apartment, and finally just takes off the slippers, making a disgusted face at her bare feet touching the stairwell floor.
mustaches: (you sure about that?)

"I'd rather not fall down all those flights on my face!"

Good God these floors are disgusting. It's a good thing Roxy can't see Jane's face right now, because she would definitely make fun of it.

"Ew, I wasn't even thinking about that, I was thinking about dirt!"
Her face scrunches up in disgust, but she keeps walking, subtly dropping her slippers back down to the floor as she does so. "No, I'll just wear these. Thanks."
